Meat pattie, mozzarella slice, pizza sauce. Also loved the onion rings. Crispy and freshly fried. Our son loved his double bacon cheeseburger. My husband opted for classic chicken tenders with housemade pickle chips. We also had a chocolate malt and vanilla shake which were super thick and rich. I do a lot of traveling to the lesser known parts of Missouri and Illinois for work, and always look forward to finding the best food spots to nosh on along the way. I was so excited when I found Hunt's on Yelp. Unpretentious food, hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, ease of service were all amazing. My mouth watered as the inner fat kid looked over their menu of deep fried and hamburgered foods. I ended up getting the pizza burger, a side of fried pickles, and whatever their blended root beer/ice cream drink is called. Everything was pretty meh. The highlight of the meal was the drink, but it also wasn't anything exceptional or even incredibly unique-tasting, it just tasted like a great combination of simple ingredients. The burger was a bit of a turn off. I waffled between trying a standard burger before jumping into the specialties, but figured I'd at least get the gist of their meat quality while trying something new. The meat was paltry, lacked flavor, and was missing that smashed burger oomph that I usually crave (I actually prefer smaller patties because of this!). The pizza sauce and mozzarella actually took away from the experience instead of adding to it. They each tasted generic and cheaply made, kind of like the elementary school cafeteria/Sysco branded version of each. The fried pickles were an improvement over the burger, but were still a bit oversalted. They needed a sauce, and I bought one to go with it, but didn't feel like it alleviated the problem much. Three stars instead of two because I would *maybe* if starving and in that area again go back to see if I just got my order completely wrong the first time, but I'm not rushing to head back to Hunt's anytime soon (pandemic or no) read more

When someone tells you, "They don't make things like they used to," send that person to Hunt's and prove him wrong. The burgers, root beer freezes, fries, and everything else taste as good today as they did when I went to grade school half a block away 30+ years ago. The prices haven't changed much since then, either. After leaving Farmington, I've lived in five states and tried hundreds of different burgers. Denver alone has endless choices--hipster burgers with "innovative" toppings, grease bomb, "gourmet," meatless, grass-fed/all natural, etc. None makes me smile like the simple, earnest quality and flavor of a Hunt's burger--no bells, no whistles, just great taste. This place is a must-visit every time I'm in town. My huge double western cheeseburger cost $3.70, fries less than $2. This quality at that price is unheard of in modern America. I'll also vouch for the ice cream (Root Beer Freeze!) and I order a Pepsi just to enjoy the perfectly crushed ice after my drink is done. In a town that's been overrun by chain restaurant sameness, Hunt's abides. It's a must-stop for local, genuine taste, quality, and value. Tips--Call your order in unless you want to eat in the car. A regular visit for us whenever, and I mean WHENEVER we come to Farmington. Lost are the days of the carhop dairy bar experience (...not talking about you, SONIC!). This particular restaurant has been a mainstay in this community for generations. This has been a hangout spot for folks since the late 1950's. People would meet at Hunt's and then head out for a night of excitement. It's great to see that that tradition continues! Our visits to Farmington would not be complete without double western burgers, french fries, fried cauliflower, fried mushrooms, and fried cheese balls. Of course, we wash all that down with pineapple Dr. Peppers. This is the only place I've ever been where they actually put a ring of real pineapple in your Dr. Pepper. If you haven't had this, you've gotta try it! All this food and drink is usually followed with a stomach ache, a bit of shameful guilt, and a little "...did we just destroy all that?" But it is SO worth it. The food is great every time, and the service is exactly what you'd expect from a carhop experience. It's a first come-first serve setup, and if you don't have the patience to chill in your car while the staff at Hunt's are preparing your food, then you can feel free to move yourself down to the nearest McDarnall's for that. The point is, you're in Farmington...not St. Louis, not Kansas City, or some other large city. Things don't move as fast in Farmington as they do in larger cities, and that's what the experience is all about. If you want big city experience, feel free to head north for about an hour and a half. You'll find what you're looking for. If you want a solid local experience, get yourself over to Hunt's. "Hunts" has been a staple and go to since I was a kid. Its always been a hang out space for locals and still is. The draw...Simple food prepared awesomely, friendly carhop service and a great sense of community. Not to be missed is their hand made to order custom shakes and malts. Their cheeseburgers are made from fresh ground local beef from the same source since they opened decades ago. This is the secret to their tasty burgers and consistent quality. If this place doesn't show up on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives we need to make it a project to get them featured. They are that good and deserve the recognition. read more

This place is a drive in that you pull in and put your lights on and a waiter will come to your car and take your order. I have been eating food from this place my whole life. The Western cheeseburger is awesome. They also have good sides and ice cream treats. Not a healthy choice but you have to indulge in good old fashioned American drive in food every once in a while and when you do, I would recommend HUNT'S. read more

Stopped in for lunch today, just to check the place out. I ordered a double bacon western burger and cheese fries. It was all very good. The cheese fries seemed to be simply melted sliced American type cheese over the top of the fries. Good nonetheless. The burger though, was very well cooked, generously sized, flavored nicely and had all the fixins' on top. The waitress was friendly, the food was good, the prices were great! I enjoyed the meal, and decided to top it off with an Oreo shake. I definitely recommend giving this little joint a go around. read more

Went here for lunch today, Love this place! Had the western bacon cheese burger, sweet potato fries and an ice tea. Burger was awesome, cooked to perfection, and the bun and toppings were fresh. Sweet potato fries were hot, with just a hint of salt. Also came with a side of marshmallow sauce. Ice tea was fresh and cold. Service was great, especially since it was on a Friday. A casual neighborhood mom & pop drive-in boasting a big snack bar menu with all the regular players (they claim to have invented the "western" burger, which is just a bigger version of the regular burger), and some out of the ordinary items, like pizza burgers (mozz. cheese and marinara), kraut burgers (you guessed it), fried potato chips the works [sic] (w/ nacho sauce, sour cream, and chopped bacon), and nacho ravioli (not sure what those are). The ice cream section has the normal mix of cones, cups w/ toppings, and shakes with a dozen house special flavors (like Grasshopper - comes with a thin mint and cookie crumble garnish).
