The service and ambiance was excellent. We made reservations, and our table was ready when we arrived. The server was fast and friendly. The restaurant is 132 years old, serving fresh fish from the North Sea. The inside of the restaurant was traditional with many pictures of fishing boats from tye area. We ordered crab soup for an appetiser. Then for the main course, we ordered the captains plate of 3 different fish, and another paste with goose with red kraut. They allow dogs, let you pay with card or cash, and it was very clean. read more

Americans beware. The waiter was so rude and blatantly made fun of us and went in the back laughing at us. They served us soup salad (I am hoping it was a rude joke) Who gets soft salad in a bowl of dressing. It was like the had the slop they were going to throw out and served it to us. He was super fresh and rude and the food is not even good. I hope he owns the place or the owners are wast their money.Go elsewhere.Had the fish platter and it was so so for a huge bill.yuck. Das Hus op´n Diek ist das älteste Fischrestaurant der Stadt Cuxhaven und weit über die Stadt hinaus bekannt. Seit 1933 wird hier frischer Fisch in einem maritimen Ambiente mit freundlichem und kompetenten Service angeboten. Auch Fleischliebhaber und Vegetarier kommen hier auf ihre Kosten. Nach der Geschäftsübernahme erstrahlt nun das Hus op´n Diek in neuem Glanz - und freut sich auf seine Gäste.

History

Established in 1933.

Das ehemalige Lotsenwohnhaus in Cuxhaven Seit nun mehr über 160 Jahren prägt unser Haus mit seiner alten Silhouette das maritime Gesicht Cuxhavens. Das geschützte Gebäude wurde ca.1850 vollständig in Backsteinbauweise errichtet, und diente viele Jahrzehnte als Wohnhaus für die in der Stadt stationierten Lotsen und Kapitäne. In der damaligen Zeit beobachteten die Lotsen von ihrer Station aus die Elbe und die Nordsee und fuhren aufkommenden Schiffen entgegen, um die Fahrt bei schlechter Sicht sicherer zu machen. Das frühere Lotsenhaus der Stadt Cuxhaven wurde 1933 zum Restaurant Hus op'n Diek umgebaut und wird seit mehreren Jahrzehnten von der Familie Vogel geleitet. Das Haus wird im Sinne der alten Gründer geführt und gilt als das älteste Fischrestaurant der Stadt. Es steht für verlässliche Qualität und die Wahrung alter Traditionen. Viele Gäste kommen schon seit Jahrzehnten zum Fisch essen hierher, manche seit über 50 Jahren!
