    More snuggly goats
    Siaolan A.

Will someone buy me a therapy goat?! Most amazing experience! Definitely a day I will never forget. Came here for a beginners goat yoga class on a Sunday morning. Tickets were easy to purchase through Eventbrite online and the directions to the farm were easy to follow. Our yoga instructor was standing outside the farm waving us down to ensure guests didn't miss the farm on their drive in. The entire Hux Family was gracious from start to finish, you can tell they really care about the animals on their farm and the guests that join them. Check-in was quick and easy. We had some time to play and feed the goats in their fenced in area before yoga started. The goats at the farm are actual therapy goats so they were very gentle and loving. When it came time for yoga, we went into a separate fenced in area, the Hux Family Farm provides yoga mats for you (bring a towel to have on top of the mat if you want). Everyone in class had enough space around them. The goats came running in, quick to pick out their humans to snuggle with. It was truly adorable!! Throughout the yoga class, Matthew (one of the Hux Family) came around to make sure goats were hanging out with every person. They really make sure you have enough interactions with the goats. One ended up asleep in my lap for about 40 minutes of the class which was EVERYTHING I WANTED. It was the cutest little goat!!! I had such a blast. You can do as much or as little yoga as you want during the class. There is additional time after class to take pictures with goats, have them hop on your back...etc. The family also has some homemade goat cheese/ desserts to sell. I had the blackberry mouse it was delicious!! So sad I don't live in NC because I would honestly be here every weekend. I cannot wait to come back during my next visit down south. Totally worth the $20 spent for the event. 2 hours of playtime with adorable, cuddly therapy goats! They also have a number of other goat related events like a dinner/ holiday pictures...etc. Check out their website! This place is AWESOME.

I came here for the first time last weekend for goat yoga. Yes, GOAT YOGA. The farm is a bit of a drive from downtown Durham but totally worth it. The goats are adorable (they are so cute and will come sit in your lap or let you pick them up) and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They said that they are planning on offering regular yoga and meditation classes starting in spring of 2017 so be sure to get on their mailing list because it was a fantastic experience. They also have other events throughout the year such as goat Sundays when you can come and just play with the goats. Definitely check out their website and Facebook to keep up with the events they have going on-- and check out goat yoga because I guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face after an hour of relaxing yoga in the sun while petting baby goats.

I was just beginning my third trimester when I attended a prenatal class, and it was really challenging for me. Some of the poses we were in were pretty much impossible for me because of how swollen my legs were or how heavy my stomach felt. I had to do a lot of modifications. The instructor did come over a few times and assisted with providing alternative poses/stretches, but I felt pretty discouraged since I seemed to be the only one in the room unable to do a lot. I do want to note that I was one of the furthest along in this class, and many of the others were still in various stages of their first and second trimesters. One thing I did find different about this yoga class was that there was no background music, and it was hard for me to drown out the other class going on in the room next door and the traffic on the street outside. Yoga classes I have taken at other places had some very light, soothing background music. I had purchased the deal for new student special for unlimited classes for 21 days, but unfortunately did not return because it just seemed to be too much for my body. I think this may have been different if I was a person that regularly attended yoga classes...

I've been taking Paul Sobin's Continuing Basics series for about 6 months, and this review is…read morepurely about this series. I'm very new to yoga. There are free classes at my school, but I feel like you need a certain level of understanding of the poses before going to those classes. I'm the kind of person that would feel VERY uncomfortable mimicking the poses in class without learning the ABCs first, just for the sake of feeling sore afterwards. I'm also uncomfortable when the teachers talk way too much about their spiritual journey. I respect other people's spirituality, but when it's hovering over the ENTIRE CLASS, it can be very distracting. Paul Sobin solves both of my problem. In the class we would move from pose to pose, but he'd always mention the mistakes easily made. So when I'm doing the pose, even when he's not nearby to correct me, I could still keep in mind what to avoid. He offers a sweet mix of the physical and spiritual practice. For example when we start the slow breathing at the beginning of class, he'd mention how life is always busy and stressful, and it's good to take just a couple minutes to breathe slow and deep to give yourself a bit peace of mind. I really appreciate this. The series are pretty flexible - if you can't make it to the class you signed up for, you can do a make-up with any other series class Paul/ Sommer teach. Whatever leftover classes you haven't used in this series can be carried over to the next one. Students get a discount, which comes to $10 per class. This is quite an investment compared to the free gym, but I'd be happy to skip a weekend drink for this. People seem very nice, chill, and friendly as well. They also offer a week of classes free before the start of the series. The only con I can think of so far: The class can be crowded, to the point that the distance between you and the next mat is half a mat's width. Come 10 mins early to secure a good spot.

I arrived to the appointment 10 minutes early and Chris was there with an intake form waiting for me and a cup of water. I filled out the form and Chris looked it over and asked me pertinent questions relating to my health and body history. We chatted about my goals for receiving bodywork. I'm an avid cyclist, runner and soccer player, which Chris was able to relate to and he was very familiar with the areas that I requested the session focus on. It was a cold, rainy day, so the heated massage table and heated packs he placed on my body were a welcomed added bonus. Chris let me know that he tends to be quiet when he works, but feel feel free to ask questions anytime. The massage was transcending. Chris truly has a passion and level of care that I haven't experienced with other practitioners. I lost track of all time and left the Vigor + Vim ready to relax the day away. Chris recommended that I take 12 hours away from exercise and to drink lots of fluids. He even showed me a couple new stretches afterward in the foyer that would help work some of my problem areas. I'm definitely looking forward to my next session and wholeheartedly recommend Chris Grohs and Vigor + Vim. His studio is in a great historic house converted into multiple offices and professional practices. Easy to find. Central location downtown and plenty of parking.
