I'll admit the business is small and the given selection is modest, but Kevin has been a skilled craftsmen in his trade his whole life. Patience is a virtue, and having witnessed a few customers in the store while I shop needlessly creating difficulties for staff, it makes me feel that no-one who leaves 1 stars have ever worked retail. Kevin and his staff have only offered me respect and welcomed my business with warmth and understanding.

The guy you come to for custom work, the guy who you recommend your friends to. This aint Zales or Robbins Brothers. He almost guarantees the craftsmanship of his work. Security is tight and as it should be. It's comforting to have that around sometimes. No parking, street only. The owner may not remember you or your story, but talk to him about the piece he made and he'll instantly remember the details. That type of custom work is hard to come by. Most places unless you buy some crazy sized rock they won't remember your 1K I'm sorry necklace. Gemstones, plenty of materials from white, titanium, rose, and all the usual suspects. He does a lot of work with personally trusted vendors and carries brands he stands behind which I appreciate.

Do not recommend this place unless you want your jewelry ruined. Had to take it elsewhere to get sized correctly. They told me they have seen other hack jobs from this same place. Terrible.

NEWMARKET STORE: My…read morediamond was set incorrectly -- crooked and loose. I also paid to have the ring resized and they didn't do that either. For fear of losing the expensive stone, I was without my engagement ring on my wedding day. Staff promised to "call right back" but never did. Emails went unanswered. I just wanted to wear my wedding ring and I wasn't getting anywhere with Howards, so I finally took the ring to another jeweller to get it fixed at MY OWN expense (and b/c I didn't trust Howards to do it properly). Howards apologized to me, but won't offer any compensation. I'm sure this doesn't happen in all cases at the the Newmarket store, but for me, once was one time too many!
