This was a GREAT hotel. CLEAN, comfortable, friendly staff, quite and affordable. My ONLY complaint was that there was only one person working who had to work the front desk, the bar and the food. We came in late and he greated us. Very friendly. We then wanted to eat and because he was the ONLY person working, it took a while which we expected, but the other customers had to wait as well. I liked that we could get food that late without having to go anywhere. Although it was very expensive, it was good and we expected to pay more. I hightly recommend this hotel to others. read more

Not the best experience I've had with a hotel. When I got to the room, I noticed that the room was kind of warm. After a few hours, we called the front desk and asked for maintenance to come look at our AC. One of the front desk attendants said that maintenance had left for the day and tried to reset the compressor with zero results. We also requested a fan, blankets, and pillows. We were brought one blanket and told that all other pillows had been sourced out. We were also brought a fan but it didn't work. Not what I expected from a Hyatt hotel. read more

Nice building and rooms but wifi is very slow and keeps getting disconnected. Service is kinda weak. They always look like under staff. There is long lines for check in. I've stayed in three different hotels since I arrived in Topeka, and I'm having trouble deciding whether this hotel or the budget one was worse. The pros: Very large room, comfortable bed, large TV, small fridge, safe in room, and lounge area that is also a pullout bed. Staff was friendly and personable on check-in. The cons: -Complete lack of signage showing where to turn for the hotel or which lot(s) belong to the hotel and are okay to park in. -Bathroom design is not well thought out. To provide a private toilet separate from the sinks etc, you have the kind of tiny bathroom you expect from a Super 8 or another budget motel. Maneuvering in there is not easy if you are a full grown adult male. The shower has sliding doors, and it also has a towel rack with EVERY bath towel IN the shower. Who thought this up? Even a shelf high above the toilet would have been a better idea. They try to save energy by using CFL bulbs, but that is the only light in the toilet/shower room. By the time you can see what you are doing at all, you are done. I prefer not to wait for my lights to "warm up" before I use the facilities. -The sleeper sofa may be useful to some people, but I hope it is more comfortable as a bed than it is as a sofa. Cushions provide no support and I could feel the bars through the cushion after only a short time watching TV. - Which brings me to TV and Wifi. I'm on day 3 of a 5-night stay at this point. There was no TV or wifi on Day 2 from the time I got back to the property. According to the desk, water got into the Cox Cable box for the building and Cox was going to come out and fix it in the morning. I'm gone all day on Day 3, get back to the hotel late. Good news, the TV works no; bad news, there is still no internet. A call to the desk and I am informed that "Wifi will be fixed tomorrow morning, or by noon at the latest". Free Wifi is an advertised amenity. It influenced my decision to stay. One day or night when there is a hiccup or glitch is just something that happens. Being told the same thing two days in a row, AND having to ASK what is going on in the first place is BS. If your Wifi is down for any length of time or if you are going to go an entire night without basic things like TV or internet of any type, you should make a point of letting guests know via sign or other notice. I travel for business, and even when I travel on personal trips I'm still trying to stay connected for business. I liked the room rate that was advertised online, but I had a cheaper room with better TV and internet service than this before I moved due to issues with their staff professionalism. Not good Hyatt. We recently stayed at the Hyatt Place Topeka for a family wedding. The service provided to our party was amazing! The staff were friendly and responsive. The rooms were large, clean and had nice amenities. Shout out to two staff in particular were especially helpful, Rasha and Allison. They did everything in the hotel, worked the front desk, made drinks and food orders, and helped with maintenance. For example, in the groomsmen suite, the mini fridge was not working, Within minutes of placing a call downstairs, Rasha (who had a sprained ankle) and Allison were upstairs and replaced our fridge. Those ladies were incredible! First, fantastic front desk staff that were always smiling and seemed genuinely happy to help with anything. Second, the room was huge! Very big flatscreen and sectional sleeper couch in addition to two beds. Third, the cheesecake that we bought at the bar area was surprisingly good for a hotel. Nice, clean hotel. The children enjoyed the pool. The wife enjoyed her drink from the limited bar. We happened to be staying when a girls volleyball tournament was in town and the hotel was very busy. Breakfast in the morning looked like a Kansas tornado had stirred the whole area up but after the large volleyball group left, the hotel staff regrouped and got everything back in order. Considering all things, this is a nice hotel for the price. read more

Stayed here because of advertised bar and restaurant on site...not so fast..bar consisted of 3 stools and about 12 different bottles of liquor... limited beer selection... restaurant was tables scattered around the lobby. Great hotel experience for Topeka, KS. Big rooms with couch/ottoman and 40+ inch flat screens. Solid wi-fi connections throughout hotel. Desk staff is really friendly and the continental breakfast is complimentary. Starbucks coffee brewed fresh. When I am in Topeka for business, this is the only place I plan on staying. read more

Rooms are large with a HD flat screen TV,sink, small fridge, and extra long sofa lounger! The expanded continental breakfast is better than most hotel chains. Coin operated washing machine and dryer are available too. One down side, the fitness center is the size of a closet. Staff are very helpful and friendly too! Hotel offers free WiFi. Lobby furniture is bit worn down but should not deter you from selecting this hotel for a warm comfortable stay in Topeka. This place really surprised us. The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast was excellent. There were two downfalls, one was the pool is outdoors and was still closed for winter, Second was the king rooms do not have bathtubs, but stand up showers only. It worked out though, we gave our 1 yr old her first shower. Would Definately stay again. read more

I am visiting from Long Beach, CA and selected this property for 1 night stay to give my grand daughter the opportunity to have a party at her house. I have to say that this hotel is a really nice property. We were greeted friendly by Hunter upon check in. The room (508) was nice and very spacious with a separate area with a nice sectional/pull out sofa and ottoman, desk and chair and bar with sink. Lots of storage and a nice large TV. The bathroom was spotless and the separate large vanity/sink area with large mirrors was a plus. The beds with white linen was comfortable. I realized that some reviews were negative, however our stay was perfect. Only thing was that there were 2 carpet stains, however that did not bother us at all, since we always bring slippers. Breakfast was grab and go (juices, coffee, muffins, cold cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, granola bars, hot cereal cups and fruit) and was served by a very nice lady named Adrianna. Overall, we had a nice stay and will be back again. Thank you. read more

This was a great hotel - well furnished, spacious room, cool lobby with bar and good breakfast spread (great biscuits and gravy). I'd give it a much higher rating but my wife and I got fleas from our stay there. We woke up with many flea bites and I still itch a week later. Thankfully I called and was quickly given a full refund. We liked the hotel but hate to itch so we are conflicted on whether we will try this Hyatt Place again. read more

Only stayed here one night but thought it was a nice, clean hotel with a very friendly staff. The free breakfast was nice and a notch up from the standard fair. The room was large and having a fridge is always a plus for us when we are on a road trip with a cooler of items we want to keep cold. Unfortunately our room had a toilet that ran every ten minutes or so, and it made it very difficult to sleep. We didn't notice until we were tucked in for the night, or we would have alerted the staff. They seemed so friendly and accommodating I am fairly sure they would have changed our room or fixed the problem had we let them know. read more

I'm so impressed with this hotel. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are modern and updated. The room we stayed in had a wonderful couch/entertaining area so the bed was almost separate. Large TV and wet bar area as well. The free breakfast was a nice spread (great biscuits and gravy). My husband drills in Topeka once a month and this is definitely the nicest hotel we have stayed in by a long shot. The only bad thing I have to say is the bed is a little firm for my liking. Was really excited to stay here on my cross country road trip after reading the reviews. However when I called they said they had a non-refundable $75 pet fee. I've booked 7 hotels for this coast to coast trip, and the range for dogs is $10-$25 and I'll be staying at MUCH nicer hotels than this. Outrageous! The cost for the dog is almost equivalent to the cost of the room. I'll pass! read more

I was here for three nights while teaching a workshop for a near by business, and it was a great place to return to after teaching all day to rest and relax. The staff was amazing. The room I was in was comfortable and up to date. I did have a few issues with the internet kicking me out when it was idle for a few minutes, but was able to get back on easily. It was not a big deal, and it was great to have this place as a base to work from. read more

Great place!! Came here last minute while driving across country. Definitely a good choice!! Nice employees, clean, good free breakfast and homey. Only thing I can think of that is negative is the bathroom door closes too close to the toilet. Have to maneuver yourself in bathroom to get in. This is an excellent hotel choice. The staff is friendly and caring. The amenities were excellent. The rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and excellently decorated. Huge plus that they serve Starbucks coffee & tea in their lobby. After staying at another hotel in town, leaving a rather negative review, and having to deal with an employee who tracked me down to ask me to remove my review, I felt the pang of longing for a great hotel experience. In Topeka, The Hyatt Place is by far, the best hotel in town, in my opinion. My girls and I were guests there a year ago. The room was immaculate, comfortable, and spacious. The staff were amazing...always had a smile...always had a kind word....not a threatening one in the bunch. The hotel even made an impression on my 7 year old...she wants to come back! I will be bringing my family in a month (we visit the city often) and I will never stay at the other place again, if I can help it. I like the location...close to restaurants, shopping, and the Interstate. A++ Hyatt Place! Of course with all of these positive reviews, HP has a high bar to keep balanced.
