On the 17th floor, the Regency Club is an exclusive lounge you get access to if you book a Regency Club room (higher floors). Your room key is coded for so you can use this lounge area. For us, that means we had to purchase only one meal daily since our room included the breakfast buffet, and we ate dinner at the Regency Club. You pay more, but you get your money's worth, for sure. The breakfast buffet, the food quality, and quantity, are second to none. I don't usually like buffets because the food on them tends to be blah tasting, not here though. There is a lobby bar that's VG with friendly, attentive bartenders. Everyone we came in contact with was extremely helpful, from the doormen, wait staff in restaurant areas, front desk, and the person cleaning our room, #1510. In spite of me knowing almost no Spanish, we found a way to communicate. Most of them spoke some English, and 1 bartender allowed me to practice using my translation app with them. Room 1510 is large with a mini fridge, small safe, and coffee maker. No microwave. Ice machine every other floor, and you are offered plenty of bottled water. You don't need an HDMI cable for the TV. We cast our Netflix account to the room TV using the provided instructions. The pool is on the 3rd deck, small but adequate. It's a few blocks away from Ado bus service. We used Ado to get to Cancun, a significant savings over paid private auto service. Look for their App. read more

Wonderful four night stay that started with a pleasurable check-in experience with Alejandra (see photo). Large, welcoming lobby area with a nice bar, tucked off in the corner and a very accessible restaurant. The best buffet breakfast I have had in 10 or more years. Absolutely phenomenal breakfast, with an egg/omelette bar, 5 to 10 hot dishes, all kinds of fruit, all kinds of meat and cheeses, juice, coffee, a truly amazing set up. Club level and club level benefits were excellent. Basically, you could eat dinner at the club level/membership if desired to do so. And, great service. Good size room with a nice view (although windows need cleaning). Good size bathroom with welcoming shower, good water pressure, products, and hot water. Entire staff very friendly. Well equipped fitness area. Pool area large and nice size pool. No hot tub. Good location. Recommend this hotel! read more

Excellent hotel in Merida that feels and looks new with sparkling clean rooms. The rooms have 2 twins or an enormous king-size bed; very comfortable with soft sheets. Check-in was efficient. The staff is multilingual and very nice and will recognize your Hyatt status if you have it. There is also a small, but very nice pool and a hotel gym. The room's bathroom is great. The hand soap they use has a wonderful and kind of exotic cinnamon scent. The other toiletries are more subtle. They supply a lot of clean and fluffy towels and the maid service is quick and really on point. I really like the large stone shower and the rooms in general are enormous. There's even a couch. I stayed in a Regency Club king bed room, which is on the higher floors. I believe the floors go up to 18. Also, if you use Hyatt points, this hotel is rated a "1" in the Hyatt hotel categories, so a regency club room goes for 7000 points a day (2025). That includes a huge buffet breakfast with fresh omelettes, eggs to order, huevos rancheros, local Yucatan specialties, and all kinds of fresh juices and coffees and breakfast things. Good deal. The hotel has a very nice and large lobby with a small fountain and a bar, an excellent Italian restaurant, and also a coffee shop with a canteen inside where you can buy soft drinks and even local arts and crafts. If you don't book a Regency club room (where you can go yo the 17th floor club at basically almost any time to get coffee, snacks, beer and soft drinks, with a happy hour time at 5pm with more options), you can go across the street where there is a mini market with food, basic supplies and all kinds of sundries. And the large hotel across the street also has a shopping center inside with more artisanal shops. You can catch an Uber to basically anywhere in town and the historic downtown is about 15-20 minutes walk. Currently, Merida is said to be the safest city in Mexico and it's extremely nice to walk around in. read more

My wife and I stayed 8 nights during Christmas and the hotel is boring, we ended up going next door to the Holiday Inn for entertainment and to the Fiesta Americana across the street for the Spa and happy hour. They knew it was our anniversary and did nothing special, the day before we stayed for one night at a Krystal and they decorated the bed with an anniversary message and some wine, and the hotel is a much lower class. They even gave us a room on the 12th floor with an obscene mark carved on their window, I asked and they said they knew but had not been able to erase it. They need to do better. I am glad we rented a car. read more

This is one of the nicer hotels in the area but is also priced as such. Not super expensive but probably a bit more expensive than it should be. The breakfast buffet is quite good. The assortment of fresh juices, especially the green juice, is great. Some items are not good but there are a ton of options. It's also slightly pricey but actually a decent value considering all that you can choose from. There are a ton of local delicacies. The staff is amazing and super helpful. I've had some random issues (air conditioner/wifi/etc) the past few trips and they are usually pretty quick to respond. On my recent trip Debbie was the best! The rooms are nice. Sometimes you get a lot of noise from events in the area, but that's just part of being in the middle of the city center. The one negative that I will say about the rooms is that every single shower leaks. I've been here several times and have never had a room that didn't. The way the shower doors open is awkward and the floor tile is probably not properly sealed. After you step out of the shower, expect to clean up a gallon of water from the floor. A minor inconvenience but still kind of annoying. And lastly, the Regency Club. Make sure that you book on the higher floor that grants you access to the 17th floor club. They serve breakfast in the morning and hold a happy hour (actually a couple of hours) every night with a mini buffet and drinks, all included. The staff here is also amazing! read more

The Hyatt Regency in Merida is a stunning hotel. It's located in North Merida and very close to many new stores and shopping centers. The staff which includes María José are experts in customer service. Each staff member speaks English and Spanish and I was able to converse in both languages without issue. We were staying at the Hyatt Regency for a wedding and the staff who oversaw the wedding did a tremendous job. Our room on the 17th was spectacular. While we had access to the Regency perks we didn't have a chance to use them. The following morning we did eat breaker at Peregrine's and the service was top notch and the food was crafted with variety and passion. I would recommend staying at the Hyatt Regency. The average nightly price is about USD 130 and while that's on the high side for Mexico it's the same price as the Hampton Inn in medium cities like Boise, Idaho making it a great deal. read more

Grand lobby space with water wall and flavored water to drink. Nice staff was quite helpful. Large room with wood looking floors and large flat screen TV. Small bath with plenty of counter space and a nice walk in shower, but low water pressure. The seat on my commode was plastic and moved around easily, which was bad. Comfy bed and nice lighting. Nice pool with surprisingly cold water considering how hot it was outside. There was no hot tub, which was disappointing. I was also surprised to see that the pool closes as early as 8 p.m. The workout room was medium sized with a variety of machines and Cardio.  The breakfast buffet was one of the more impressive Hotel buffets I have ever seen. It had quite a selection of Hispanic Foods as well as typical us breakfast items such as eggs and bacon. There were several kinds of pork eggs with sausage, tortillas, many kinds of Salsa's, lots of bread, some cereal, juices, chocolate milk, fresh honey, and chilaquiles. The hotel is in a great location near to lots of shopping, many restaurants and a convenience store is across the street. Be sure to get a day trip to Uxmal to see the pyramids and ruins there. Talk your tour guide into stopping at the chocolate museum for the best museum on chocolates I have ever been to, complete with animals such as monkeys, crocodiles, dear, and leopards. There was a fantastic ritual to chocolate that was performed as well. The tour can be arranged from the concierge desk and was under $40 including lunch. read more

Incredibly nice and attentive staff, including an early check in after a red-eye flight. Restaurant is ok. Some further attention to detail needed (better quality tortillas, using different knives to cut up fruit and onion) , but the lechon was very tasty. The room is ok overall, but curtains were not long enough to over entire window leaving gaps at both ends. The noise is very noticeable-- all of the room doors on my floor (7th) were just very loud to close. Very difficult to rest with the noise from the floor and the A/C. Now, the most important elements of a stay in Merida: 1) bed 2) A/C and 3) bathroom 1) bed: too hard and pillows very uncomfortable. After a day of sightseeing, comfortable rest is most important. This bed was hard and getting a good night's sleep was not possible. 2) A/C: Merida is hot and humid, so A/C is a #1 priority for best rest. The A/C is ok when it comes to cooling, but it is SO loud that it's twice as loud as being on an airplane. Every time it kick on, it will wake you up. So much so, you will turn the thermostat up to keep it from turning on as often as you'd really like. Plus, there is no vent in the bathroom. 3) bathroom: the lay out is not the best and the mold is ridiculous. There is mold along all the edges and just horrible. Pictures attached. Worst Hyatt I have ever experienced there was loud construction which nobody told us about. the rooms are outdated the tub looked like no one had cleaned it in months the carpet is torn the drawers were falling apart the odor in the hallways was of septic tank! I should have stayed at fiesta Americana across the street! When I complained about the noise they asked me what construction was I talking about! Like really you can not hear it?? An absolute poop show of a hotel and management. These people act like they have never worked at a hotel before. Lost reservations. Lost room service orders, in hotel restaurant a cluster f. Best of luck with your stay here and hope you don't have to deal with the front desk or GM. You'd get better results from talking to a houseplant. Windows don't open either so if the electricity goes out, prepare to sweat. Can't believe Hyatt corporate doesn't enforce better standards. Might as well stay at super 8/ocho. Don't stay here. If I could give them a zero I would. Zero competent people and looks like they hire anyone breathing regardless of their mental capacity. Bathrooms are disgusting too. read more

Easily the best Hyatt I've stayed at especially compared to the properties in the States. Don't know what the snowflakes are complaining about. Better quality tortillas?? Are you kidding? Mold in the shower? Seriously? Some folks just don't know good stuff when they have it. Too many folks are too comfortable with the over processed food in the States. Not only did this hotel have awesome, homemade style food, the entire city of Merida seems to be overflowing with quality restaurants, walk-ups and food carts. The hotel was super clean, cool when you needed it, quiet, quality staff who were genuinely happy to talk to you, outstanding location walking distance to many sites and shopping/sightseeing areas. I would stay here again with no reservations. read more
