I've wanted to try this place for so long and finally stopped in on a weekend. Super cute, lively cafe! Service was superb, very friendly. I came here on a random Friday morning for some breakfast/brunch. It's currently stuck behind some scaffolding, but there are signs stating it's close by and around the corner. I ordered a loaded avocado toast & a cold brew. All in all, it comes out to over $20, so keep that in mind as this is not your standard breakfast rate food. There are a few seats inside and a few outside, but the inside gets packed pretty quickly. I sat outside looking out on Grove St. The cold brew was pretty good. The loaded avocado toast was indeed loaded. Very filling. It did have a bit too much sriracha, so it became tough to eat after a little while. However, the food was fresh and good. Love this cafe!! Stumbled upon this place when I was staying in Jersey City and ended up coming back the next day. This place is a gem! Lovely, homey atmosphere with a "locals flavor". I got a "Honeycomb Latte". Looked beautiful and in a perfect rustic cup. Very nice spot in a quiet location. I had a delicious iced oat milk latte and sat outside to work for a bit. They also had some nice food options that I'd love to try. Went here because I was craving waffles and the reviews were great and the food looked great. It was not. My food was horrible. No taste or flavor. I ate it because they already didn't seem accommodating when I asked to switch my drink. Worst than the taste or lack there of, the food was cold! I hate cold food. Even poor tasting food will go a long was if it is hot and fresh. Why was the food cold?!? No clue. They're making the food 2ft way from you. And it didn't take long to come out. I had a waffle and the loaded avocado toast. The toast was ok, certainly not the best I've had, and the waffle was worst than the freezer waffles you get from the grocery store for the kids! Not crispy, not hot, slightly soft/soggy texture, I did not like it at all. Ordered the iced hibiscus wild berry tea. It tasted like water. I understand it is sugar free, however, is it also hibiscus free? Because I didn't taste that either. I asked the owner/manager to switch it, this place has no soda, no protein other than lox salmon, and a house made juice he said would cost extra to switch. I said fine, then he offered apple juice instead. Jersey has several amazing coffee shops. If your palate is anything like mines, you will not like it. And it ain't cheap. Awful waffle and avocado toast with sugar free tea is going to run you $36. Hard pass. read more

Location: Located off of Grove Street, Hybrid is a located a short distance away from the busiest streets in Jersey City. However, it is still very easy to find. Plus it's quiet, so if you want a relaxing experience, this is the place. Coffee: I ordered a cafe latte, honeycomb coffee and an iced decaf coffee, along with several pastries. The coffee was nice, and I particularly liked the blueberry donut pastry. Service: The owner of the store brought a dog treat for our dog who really appreciated the attention. I love the location - just a few minutes walk from the downtown PATH station. They also have some outdoor & indoor seating set up. The inside is super clean & has a fun vibe to it. I ordered the loaded avocado toast w/ no feta & an iced americano. From the pictures already posted, I was worried the bread they use would be too much but I couldn't be more wrong. It is so so soft & tastes great. I just wish the avocado had a little more kick outside the sriracha? Maybe more salt/pepper, I'm not sure. But I did still enjoy it! And I really really enjoyed the americano as well! I decided to stay also for a bit to do some work & it seemed like this was such a welcoming neighborhood spot! Evan (the owner? Coffeeshops have become frequent in the Grove st. vernacular and it's amazing but also confusing to find a place that's not too much scene with a lovely quiet balance of co-working and people enjoying the fare. Also, there's video games in the corner for those Ms. pacman admirerers still at .25 cents! My millennial ass was nostalgic in a caffeine delight. The donuts are cake donuts with robust flavors and coffee was not overly sweet with excellent espresso and composure. I had a lovely really afternoon with my snack and coffee, writing on my lil journal in the dystopian apocalypse. For a moment, I remembered the tenderness of Pre-covid times, the sheer ease of privilege to enjoy a treat without panic. A sweet respite.
