This review is in regards to the Zumba class I recently took at Studio 808…read more Studio 808 is located in the heart of Waipahu next to the iconic Leeward Drive-Inn. I've heard of Studio 808's dance programs but have never taken a class until I heard about the Zumba class being offered there. You can take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor and reach the studio on the Leeward Drive-Inn side. Once arriving, there is a front desk area set up in front of the studio where people were manning. You can pay in cash or Venmo (I did the mobile pay option because I didn't have cash). Fortunately, Studio 808 has also catered the Zumba class as a remote class so you can actually sign up for the class and dance from home by watching the instructor. Upon arriving to the class, the room was overall clean and spacious. Because the class is also done virtually, there wasn't many people in the room. The Zumba instructor was Erin and I have nothing but great things to say about him. As someone who isn't a dancer, Erin was kind enough to teach the lessons via virtual cam and in-person. The overall class was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the music better at Studio 808 compared to the Zumba classes I take at 24 Hour Fitness. I would definitely recommend to go with Erin because he's exudes positive energy, always smiles while breaking a sweat and definitely knows what he's doing. I was even watching the participants online (who were older folks) and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the class at home as they would in studio. If you're up for doing a Zumba class in Waipahu (or simply at your own home), I would definitely recommend this class to take. Admission is about $7 per class but the first class is free! Classes are every Tuesday from 6-7pm.

EVERYONE that works there is so freindly, inviting and helpful. I met with a female, can't remeber her name but it was for personal trainging and she was the sweetest. The owner was extremely pleasent and the environment in general was so welcoming and calm. I wish I lived closer so that I could be an actual memeber here and if my location ever changes, I'd be back in a heart beat. A quick Google search led me to Sarah and "Wanna Hula?", and it was an awesome experience from the moment I contacted her, all the way to the end of my lesson. She was very quick with responding to my inquiries and I was able to arrange a private class for my friend and me at Magic Island. Hula on the beach...can there be anything more awesomely Hawaii than that? The meeting location was clearly indicated so it was easy to find and Sarah was even early for our lesson. She was great about offering suggestions on where to hold the class (comfort, view, etc.) and had the lyrics to all three of the songs I had inquired about printed up for us too. For the next hour, my friend and I got a dance tailored to our dancing experience/ability (I have danced on and off since I was 5 yrs old and my friend had NEVER done hula in her life) and I can't believe that we were taught an entire song in only an hour! We got the video recording add-on and Sarah provided a tripod that works with cameras and phones so it was easy to record the dance. The video is going to be so handy to review when I get back home :) I can't recommend this enough, especially since this will be much better souvenir of your vacation than a tiki doll or a pineapple mug :-P

Locals know to give them plenty of space. For the adventurous tourist who may find this beach, make sure to keep a clear distance if you encounter one. They like swimming in the small surf and dozing on the sand.

It's one of the cleanest, quietest beach near kapolei. That is not common to come by! Prior entering to the beach, you do have to drive to Kapalina Beach Homes (beach side apartment rentals) and go through security. Once you let security know you're heading to the beach, they'll grab a pic of your insurance car and license plate. I have had no issues entering this cute village. The beach is so spacious, you'll for sure find an area where you could be far from others. There were chairs and umbrellas that are set up for anyone's use. If you're feeling snacky, the D'lish at the beach is a great bar/grill that is reasonably priced. I've seen family have big patty's in the pavilion. Also have seen people use the multiple grills around the beach entrance. My favorite perk of the beach is that it's dog friendly! What a gem of a place to discover.

Affordability wise, considering the variety of amenities they have including pickleball tournaments and the option for family plans, you get a lot of value much more than you would get with a typical gym membership. We pay roughly $100 a month for a small family and so that's a great value in my opinion!

For laps, I love the Patsy Mink/Veteran's pool in Waipio, but for kids play, this pool is convenient and more than sufficient with its 2 shallow areas and area for diving and jumping, in the deep section of the pool. Suggestion: even if it is salt water, it would be best to have googles as the water burns the eyes quickly. It is the ideal spot for a birthday party with the big park available next to it, but what is inconvenient is that this pool is not consistently open. You have to check. With the government the way it is, I'm just glad it is still open but I check before going. Also, if there are parties at the park, like this weekend, those parties can cause the pool to get pretty full as it is a pretty small pool. No one got hurt though so that works. There is usually an abundance of parking available, even with the parties at the park, and I found that all of the life guards are pretty alert and yet respectful in their approach to correcting dangerous behavior. The showers can be a bit cold, but I have found that overall, the water of the pool is warmer then most. Even on those empty days without all those bodies in the water, distributing their heat and, um, maybe other heating elements. lol I'm not sure but it could be heated. Put on your sunscreen and sunglasses because even though free swim is usually between 3:15 and 5, it can be sunny! Oh, just in case you were wondering, on weekdays there are usually 2 lanes open for lap swim and it usually is empty. I don't believe there is lap swim on weekends. Happy Swimming!

They also have a kiddie pool section which is about 1ft deep. It is great for kids who are not able to swim on their own. The pool hours are from 8am to 10am for adult swim and 10am to 830pm open swim everyday except Tues when they are closed for maintenance and Sundays when it is open swim all day. It is a great place for the families of Hoopili to spend family time. They have the SoHo room which can be reserved in advance for a rental fee but needs to be made in advance and is always booked. They also have three BBQ grills on site which can be utilized and an open lawn outside of the pool fencing where residents can use pop-up tents and where games can be played. We love coming here to swim. It can also be very crowded at times but we always have a great time!
