I am a little blown away. And, I honestly thought that hypnotism was hocus pocus (I still don't know if I'm convinced it isn't). But, by this story, you'll be clear that it isn't. I waited for months before I posted this. I was using Dip (Chewing Tobacco), two tins per day (Same amount of nicotine as 4 packs of cig) for 2 years. My 6 year old son asked me to quit. I was skeptical about hypnosis before going in to see Margaret for a weight loss session, but my session was very helpful, emotionally enlightening, and deeply relaxing. We went through an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) session, which involves tapping different areas in your body called "Meridians" and vocalizing things such as forgiving yourself for harm you have done to yourself and letting go of the negative emotions surrounding the subject. You are then advised to tap these areas during any part of the day that you might have negative thoughts (for weight loss, maybe a craving for candy, or something like that). I actually found the session to be very cathartic. Using statements something like "I know that I have been hurting myself by not eating well and exercising, but I forgive myself for that and I know in the future, I can control what and how much I eat", helped me connect my thought process and behavior when it comes to food, with the negative outcome of gaining weight, and also helped me connect emotionally to what I was doing to myself, because I didn't really care up until that point. I would say the session helped me realize that I deserve better and I should start to care, which is very motivating to me (I always want to help others, but I wasn't helping myself). Next, we did the actual hypnosis session. I heard the first few statements that Margaret spoke to me and then didn't hear the rest until I was "brought" back awake. Margaret said that this means I was in the right depth of hypnosis and that my subconscious heard the words. All I can say, is that I felt extremely relaxed and refreshed afterwards, like a weight had been lifted (NOT that I had been asleep!). Now as for the skepticism, I think it revolves around the terminology involved, or some of the explanations given for some phenomena. I think the benefits of EFT can be described using terms like using positive affirmations (I know I can control what I eat), disrupting negative thinking (I forgive myself for having a candy bar), and just behavioral conditioning (if I tap a certain body part when I am tempted to eat something bad for me, it serves to remind of all of those positive affirmations and change my frame of mind to that healthier place). In terms of the hypnosis session, I would describe that as guided meditation, and conditioning as well, and the benefits of meditation are supported well in scientific literature. Overall, I would recommend that if you are having a problem with motivation to lose weight, stop smoking, or stop procrastinating, or you are feeling stress about something, to try a session with Margaret. I think any technique that can help you coordinate your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to be on the same page, is really useful, and Margaret gives you materials to take home as well. At the very least, I felt more relaxed and rejuvenated than I ever have after a nap or after a massage session, and that was a feeling worth a million bucks! read more

Margaret is AWESOME! The BEST! My reason for seeing her was to quit smoking. I wanted to quit smoking for sometime because my kids/family, my health (I have multiple autoimmune diseases as well as psych issues), and the life disruptions for that short "timeout" as I was missing out on so much just to take a smoke break. To be honest I still liked my timeouts and the moment I had to regroup and breath. I know the breath part sounds crazy but you do have to breath consistently (or slow down enough to inhale and exhale) when you smoke and that was what I told myself even though I knew I was being selfish and enough was enough. There are other techniques that I have known and tried but my subconscious mind was still in control. I have been continually treated for psych issues and in counseling for 16 years. I include that part because I have had years of CBT and DBT training skills which has helped for some mental and physical issues and just dealing with people, but never enough to quit smoking. The subconscious mind part can be a tricky enemy. Margaret touches on all your struggles and triggers not only through hypnosis but also teaching you EFT which coincides for ultimate success. The EFT skills are an amazing therapeutic way to break or ease any situation with just a couple seconds (even discrete when in public). I have used it for everything (anxiety, pain, addiction) and it absolutely helps. I use the EFT more than anything else because it is quick and effective. It is a "I need this 'calm down' moment RIGHT NOW but I have to do this and this and this still". I felt very comfortable talking to her about anything and everything without judgement.
