(American review) We have an exchange student daughter in this town and she brought us here for dinner. It's an impressive atmosphere with old world wood craftsmanship on the stairway and hand craved railings. A dark pub atmosphere inside is cozy and warm. There are pool tables and shuffle board in the other room. The server/bartender was a good server and was patient with us. They do have an English menu you just have to ask.
OK NOW TO THE FOOD: It was all very well presented on the plate. We ordered the Handvererkeren Burger. It's served on a homemade bun , thick handmade patty with cheddar and bacon. It was a good burger (199 NOK). We also got the ribeye steak with a gravy, mushrooms, onions with a side baked potato with cheese broiled on top. It was also good (259 NOK). We ordered 2 small plates from the "Peckish" menu. The hot dog was more like a spicy sausage topped with coleslaw for 79 NOK. Added fries (they could've been crispier/hotter) for 29 NOK. Also ordered a grilled cheese. It was a decent grilled cheese but nothing all the special. The best thing all night...the panna cotta. It was a mild subtle chocolate flavor served with a rhubarb sorbet ---HOMERUN! It was a really good ending to our meal. We shared amongst 4 people and it was perfect. It was 79 NOK.
We ordered a few drinks and the bartender made me something "sweet"...kind of a surprise me kind of thing. It was really good. Something I would've never ordered but I did like it. Xante Caipirinha: Pear Cognac, Sprite, sour mix, and lime. Smooth drink not too strong, so I enjoyed it.
It was kind of expensive supper but we're in Norway and those prices are typical. $127 for 3 drinks, 2 big meals, 2 smaller plate meals, and one dessert. read more
