We went to Val D'Isere over the New Year. It was very busy. We took the precaution of booking 48 hours ahead for every evening, but somehow failed to do so for 1st Jan. We went into the town centre and became increasingly anxious until we found Auberge St Hubert.
Inevitably in ski resorts the food is at best average. The lack of competition, the captive market, the lack of energy on the part of punters to seek out a good deal means that we're sitting ducks for uninspired food and service. Having said this, St. Hubert was pretty good. The food was good and generous, the service attentive and prompt. Possibly the best place we visited in the resort. If we ever go back there again we'll put it on our shortlist. read more
