September 2012 (24 hours in Paris)
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It is walking distance to the Rodin Museum, Champ-de-Mars, the Eiffel Tower, Invalides, the Louvre, Trocadero, etc. The very cool Rue Cler street (pedestrian market) is located around the corner. (restaurants, fruit/vegetable stands, cafes, bakeries). You can walk across the street to a convenience store to purchase tickets for the bus if you choose to do so (bus pick-up is a few blocks down the street). The Metro stop is a few minutes away. (line 8 that connects to metro line 1). Down the street is a Carrefour market where you can buy bottled water and snacks.
The staff is excellent ! Our front desk associate/concierge (Vanessa) was awesome/super friendly/professional/extremely helpful !!!! We were only able to speak a few words in French and Vanessa was very patient. She happen to speak fluent English.
The hotel room is small by American standards but typical of many European hotels. (kind of reminds me of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in TriBeCa, NYC as far as size). The room was quaint. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked great (though, we turned it off, we didn't need it). We had a strong Wi-Fi signal (free). My only complaint was the shower/bathtub. It had a 1/2 door that does not cover the entire length of the tub. So, while taking a shower, water gets splashed onto the floor. (our hotel room in London had the same type of half door thingy....... what is up with that?)
The Eiffel Tower is about a 12 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. Close enough to walk but far enough away so you are not overwhelmed by tourists. The neighborhoods felt safe. We really enjoyed eating and people watching on Rue Cler street. http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-rue-cler-paris
We would recommend this hotel. We especially liked the staff and the location. (was perfect for our must cram a lot of things in 24 hour stay). read more
