Granted, all of the food in France is in a league above the rest of the world so a 5-star meal to us may be a 3-star in French terms. Only thing annoying here was that the service was slow even though we were the only ones in the restaurant and they were definitely open on their signage, but the server found us as an inconvenience. My husband chose a menu - herring and potato with salad for entree, followed by tuna with rice and salad for mains - and this was quite good. I chose the moules in creme fraiche with parsley, garlic and onion - the sauce was really great but I thought the moules very small and disappointing. (Although to be fair all the moules that we have seen for sale in French fish markets look very small in comparison to the ones we can buy in Australia and New Zealand). We went to this restaurant last Friday and had a truly awful experience. Whilst we received a table…read morewith a beautiful view over the harbour, the evening quickly took a turn for the worse when we were effectively ignored by the waiting staff for 15-20 minutes until they finally brought us a menu to read, let alone any bread to nibble on. This pattern of lack of attention continued throughout the meal, with, despite multiple requests to be served quicker, our first course arriving over an hour and a quarter after we had first sat down. Our two younger children, who to their own credit were extremely patient, had to wait even longer. We were about to leave when our main courses arrived, and felt obliged to eat them, although by this stage we had really had enough. The food itself was also poor. The salad we had ordered was extremely salty and the quality of the entrecôte steak low. The other dishes were passable although nothing to write home about. The wine was also average, although when it finally came, we were happy to have some light relief. All in all, it seems this place is profiting simply from its great location, and the food and in particular the service are no reason to go there, more reasons to avoid the place.
