The restaurant is in a gorgeous old building alongside Place de of Bourse which dates back to 1730. The tables were all outside and it was a beautiful night so that was a great start. The wine selections are mostly from the region (Medoc, Saint Emilion, etc) so you can't go wrong and the prices are fair. We started by splitting a Caesar Salad which was huge and includes the normal anchovies, but it also came with chicken. The salad was not great and the chicken was red/pink in the middle. The main courses were another story and were prefect. My wife had the beef tartare and it was a large portion and as good as she has had. I had the langostino risotto and it was amazing with several large pieces of meat. Another opportunity for Gabriel is the bread offering as it was not tasty. All in all I highly recommend Gabriel for the view, the wine, and the main dishes.

Don't just rock up to any of the most popular restaurants in Bordeaux without a reservation as you'll most assuredly be turned away, at least in August... So, after being turned away elsewhere, we were pleased to find seats here! We found the prices for the Menus Formules very reasonable and the food was very good. Traditional but light, with just the right combination of flavours and textures. I didn't find it memorable but was pleased that we'd found a good meal for the night. But here's the thing. It was 8pm, the sun was still high in the sky, and sitting outside in a quiet, gorgeous, historic courtyard could not have been better. It was absolutely magical. Some of the other restaurant streets are extremely busy and lively. If you'd prefer, like us, something in a quieter corner, this location can't be beat. As we finished our meal, the sunlight on the top of the buildings was going slightly pink.
