We stayed one night. Very disappointing. We were warned before arriving that work was ongoing on the window - fair enough. The new blinds were a bonus to keep out the street light and traffic noise. However, the curtains had not been replaced when we arrived and the room was small with very basic facilities and very worn bedding, although clean. The cleaning in the bathroom was sketchy. Nonetheless in the morning we were charged full top rate for the room.
The dinner was implied by the website as being high quality. Although my dish was well cooked and seasoned the hors-d'oevres were very basic, the main course portions were small and we are pretty sure we were overcharged for one of the meals. Breakfast was charged separately and was also somewhat basic (one pain chocolat, cereals, croissants) although we were offered extra items (ham, cheese) if we wanted.
The hotel itself is also curiously bare; the walls carpeted in beige (yes, I do mean the walls) and the general lack of cosiness or crispness are reminiscent of some of the old communist block hotels you still come across in Eastern Europe. The bar area was a lot more welcoming and appealing than the main body of the hotel and we had the impression that if there had been more trade and the outside tables had been set up the entire downstairs atmosphere would have been better.
Service was polite although not exactly friendly; nobody was rude, and we believed the owners were doing their best to serve us. However, we shall not be booking here again. read more
