Made for a very warm and very uncomfortable sleep. No decorations on walls I.e. picture frames, etc. The bathroom needs a major renovation. No confortable chairs. TV was on a small table and very low. Impossible to view from the bed.

We were quickly checked in and went to our room, which in this case was directly on the hill with a full and uninterrupted view. Even in the grey weather we could see across the huge breadth of the river, 1.5 miles wide here!!! Magnifique! We had brought some cheese, bread and pate with us, and some wine, so we did not feel like eating in the restaurant. We had food, wine and a room with a view. Romantique! The beds were incredibly comfortable and after reading and browsing online, we soon fell asleep, with the window open to the cool river air. The next morning, eager to get going, we decided to skip the hotel buffet, reasonably priced. In retrospect, we should have tried it, as it looked quite good and was in a nice room. But we had breakfast down the road instead. News item: Apparently they have whale watching tours from here, as these creatures swim in the 170 miles upstream from the ocean. All kinds, from blue whales too a herd of belugas. Who knew? https://www.quebecmaritime.ca/en/blog/riviere-du-loup-a-little-known-whale-watching-area

The first room that I was assigned reeked of cigarette smoke. I requested a different room that reeked of curry. I opted to return to the first room and just open the windows. The major problem I encountered started at night and seemed to be the a/c system from other rooms as I turned off mine. The a/c system is ancient and the noise it made bothered me so much that it made falling asleep difficult and staying asleep also difficult. It drone on in a strange way with the sound traveling through the walls into the bed. The a/c unit in my room was really loud and made strange sounds periodically. I turned it off. The fridge was also make a strange high pitch noise. It was plugged into an extension outlet with other things. I unplugged a few things and that weird sound went away. The breakfast was better than average for a Comfort Inn...It would be worse in the USA. I got a couple of mini crossaints, jam, and butter, banana, and yogurt (better quality that US equivalent). The coffee was really weak...watery but drinkable...The coffee cups were tiny! Because of the noise and smell problems I will not be returning to this property.

The desk has plugs for laptop and phone charging. There's a microwave, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. The bathroom is updated and spotless. We are looking forward to the included continental breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel.

The motel and little cabins are arranged around a central field that's like a private park, with a playground and fire pits, and all of this is on a cliff above the St. Laurence Seaway, so the view is stunning. We took one of the cottages; it was freshly remodeled, immaculate, and had wonderful windows and a front porch with chairs and a table. Families staying there could sit near the playground while the kids ran and played contentedly. People made a fire (free firewood) and sat and chatted until a little after dark. The woman at the desk is completely bilingual, knowledgeable, warm and personable. She recommended a perfect seafood restaurant on the water for a casual dinner. The night was quiet, and in the morning, watching the sun rise over the water while we drank coffee was peaceful and lovely.

Her friendliness and genuine effort to make our stay comfortable was so comforting after a long day on the road. The sweet little cabin we stayed in has a wonderful view of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Our cabin was clean, had a comfortable lay out, and even two chairs on a covered porch. There was also a large outdoor grassy area with swings, comfortable chairs and even a tiny gazebo. The recommendation for a dinner place had some of the best seafood we had tried. All in all this was a wonderful experience and we will be going back.
