It was incredibly serene here. We loved taking a stroll around and enjoying the beautiful view, landscaping, and sculptures. A few couples were taking their wedding photos and looked lovely. We lucked out on the weather and ended up taking a nap on the benches for a while. It was the most peaceful experience during our time in Bellagio (as it was hectic and packed especially at the train station leaving town). It's 10 euros to enter as of 2026. read more

This is absolute paradise! In the village of Bellagio, nestled at the tip of an unnamed peninsula in the middle of Lake Como, the jewel of the entire town is the Melzi Gardens along its western shore. Named after Francesco Melzi d'Eril who built the mansion on the grounds in the early 1800s, the gardens feature countless species of plant life. Some of the trees are towering above you reminding visitors just how old they are and their rich history! The entrance pathway runs right along the lake in the most picturesque setting. This is certainly the best point of interest in Bellagio! read more

A short walk from the downtown area, for an 8eu entry, the garden stroll was well worth it. Every plant is marked or can be located on the map so it's easy to know the name of each plant by which you walk. There are many winding paths so it's not hard to find a bench to sit and rest and enjoy the views without feeling like you are in a crowd. Do go into the building with the 'antiques'. There are some beautiful statues and pottery that are quite old. Very interesting. There are lots of opportunities to take pics of beautiful plants or use the plants as a front drop to views of the lake. I enjoyed this stroll very much. read more

Beautiful, clean-cut Italian gardens and path along the lake in Bellagio. While you may not enter the actual Villa as it's privately owned, these views were spectacular! I highly recommend this area. We paid a small free to enter and walked throughout on our way to dinner (Darsene di Loppia, also 5-stars). read more

The gardens of the Melzi Villa are huge pretty, and actually pretty basic. The number of trees and unique plants is fun, but you're not going to see any elaborate floral arrangements or planting patterns. For example, the Japanese section is an unexpected treat, but the water inside the pond was was very dirty and unwelcoming. I'm not sure €8 is worth the entry price, at least not in August (maybe other months have different plants in season). It takes twenty minutes to walk from the ferry port to the front gate so budget that time into your day. You'll spend maybe a hour in the gardens. read more

What a beautiful garden here in Bellagio. Our water taxi driver highly recommended we visit and we took his advice. The walk from one end to the other is easy and a very relaxing stroll through the garden. We took our time and overall was about 40 minutes and the cost was 16 euros for two to enter. The walkway leads straight to the village of Bellagio and makes for a perfect start to the day. The grounds are well kept, we didn't see any restrooms and it's only pedestrian traffic that we noticed. The pathway is gorgeous and lined with cypress trees that canopy. I would definitely visit again for the gorgeous scenery, the views of Lake Como and the peace and quiet of the garden. Enjoy! read more

Quand nous y sommes allés il n'y avait pas trop de fleurs, surtout des beaux arbres et arbustes qui étaient très appréciés en cette journée caniculaire. On longe le bord de l'eau mais il n'y a pas possibilité de se baigner. Certaines pelouses sont interdites pour marcher alors que d'autres fournissent un cadre parfait, à l'ombre, pour une petite sieste de vacanciers. read more

Let's begin with a little background about this fabulous garden, a must see when visiting Lake Como. Francesco Melzi d'Eril, Vice president of the First Italian Republic in the time of Napoleon, decided to build a summer residence at Bellagio. The villa was built between 1808 and 1810. The fabulous gardens extend upward from the lake to a high point above the villa. Under the trees, along the shore and at the intersections of the many winding paths, are Egyptian sculptures and Roman statues. There is also a beautiful Japanese pond with water lilies, surrounded by Japanese maple trees and cedar trees. You could easily spend a few hours here, casually strolling around all the walkways, and admiring the sculpture, artifacts and frescoes. The panoramic views and manicured gardens are stunning, and diverse, from a neo-classical chapel to a Japanese Koi pond replete with a usable bridge and weeping willows. It's easy to get to the Villa Melzi, just a short walk from the Bellagio ferry, but we certainly found it difficult to leave such a beautiful venue. read more

This is an absolute must when in Bellagio. Beautifully laid out gardens, promenade, and pond. Hill top views of the lake. Shady spots high on the hill to sit and enjoy the lake breezes and views. Staircases throughout to explore. It's easy to imagine ladies in the 1800's strolling through the gardens. The property includes a chapel, a small water front folly, and tiki hut, The fish pond area is a beautiful oasis with bridge and grotto surrounded by lush plantings. The tree lined promenade along the water front also contains a number of benches to sit in the shade and enjoy the lake views. The hillside is covered in rhododendrons and azaleas which would be beautiful to see in the Spring. During our visit the hydrangea and water lilies were in bloom. In any season this park would be a delight to wander. read more

Need to get away from the swarms of tourists? This is an awesome, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon. As you walk along the water, you'll see a lot of different sights. A cave. Some statues. A peaceful, tiny bridge over a tiny pond. A giant mansion you can't enter. A tiny chapel you can enter. Paths winding up and down the hills. I found it the perfect place to relax and reflect. read more

These gardens are really lovely and we were wowed by how alive and thriving everything still was in October! The day we went, we found it wonderfully unbusy, so we basically wandered around by ourselves in perfect peace. The villa is really beautiful and has the most breathtaking view of the lake just right out front. Even if you aren't into trees and flowers, this is a lovely stroll. read more

A gorgeous house and garden right on the lake. Very few places have the view or the peaceful surrounding of this garden. It costs €6.50 to get in and that may be why ;-)) Beautifully maintained gardens and immaculately manicured this is probably the biggest garden in the area. The view is amazing and like many waterfront places in Italy, the water view is restricted as so many private properties are taking up the view. It's not amazing but worth a visit in Bellagio. read more

This is my favorite attraction in Bellagio. It's a stunning property that runs along the lake just outside the town of Bellagio. It's incredible to walk the grounds and imagine the people who used to live there and the parties they probably had. It is mostly a gravel path. It's very peaceful and is a lovely place to sit and read a book or to stroll hand in hand with a loved one. Cash only. read more

Beautiful garden on the lakefront. Cash only (€6.50 per person). You are not able to see inside the villa at all. A beverage would have been delightful to sip and stroll, but nothing is available for purchase. I expected more flower displays, however, everything is well groomed and maintained. Not the most stunning garden, but worth visiting. read more
