Chicken teriyaki. May look small, but really filling!

When driving through the Renton Highlands and looking for that teriyaki spot, you may find yourself on Northeast Sunset Boulevard, and then you see it. In a well-known local strip mall is 'I LUV Teriyaki'. It is definitely a family run and has been around darn near close to 20 years (way before 2006). Long enough to have great local customers, which include some Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks from 2013. Be advised that it's not the snazziest place, and typically nothing special on the interior. But this place is clean and consistent in their service, and the food they present. It's tasty, and you be happy to come back for more. You can definitely ask for their teriyaki combos, which can include chicken, beef (sliced), salmon, and pork. Rice or yakisoba are definitely available with the right amount of sweet yakisoba seasoning. Don't forget to look on the wall of the photos of their specials to include curry and a very wide selection of sushi rolls. Today, I get my old stand-by, regular chicken teriyaki. This includes flavorful thigh and rib meat, but lean chicken breast is also available and also tasty. All meals come with a salad. And miso soup can be had for a little extra. As for drinks, a nice selection of Coca-Cola products are on display - no fountain drinks at this location. But not to worry, many orders are take-out and they are happy repeat customers. Dining is available, but be advised when it gets busy. Seating can be limited. And there is usually only one person behind the counter, taking orders and serving the customers choosing to dine-in. And that person, either the owner or staff is friendly and efficient as possible. Please be kind. Are there better places in the city? Sure. But this is YOUR neighborhood teriyaki joint. And you will happily come back, not only for the convenience, but because it's tasty and you can really say 'I LUV TERIYAKI' Stop by again!!! I will!!

The friend chicken katsu dish was yummy! I haven't had a katsu fried like that. It had a thinner more airy breading than traditional Japanese katsu and it was slightly sweet. The teriyaki chicken was delicious. Service was no frills and friendly.

OK so I had this lady tell me that this teriyaki was so good and the people are so nice so I decided to go and give it a shot. The lady at the front was very nice. The teriyaki is the worst I've ever had sorry The sauce is very thick and does not really taste like teriyaki sauce and the dressing for the salad was just as thick. I'm sure the family likes thick sauce not my favorite.

Teriyaki sauce is gelatinous and doesn't taste good. No ginger dressing for salad, no vegetables as a side. Lots of teriyaki restaurants around, skip this place.

This is their spicy noodle soup ‍

I ordered a hot spicy noodle soup through GrubHub. What I got appeared to be a package of top ramen cooked with a couple slices of fresh carrot and broccoli. Not worth $10.62 that I got charged. The shrimp fried rice and chicken teriyaki was ok; otherwise, this review might've been 1 star.

    Spicy Tuna Roll

Overall just a hard pass. "Prawns" had a terrible odor. Teriyaki sauce was so unbelievably thick and sweet not edible. Spicy Tuna roll did not come... rolled and hardly any tuna Bibimbap also had almost no meat. Crunch Roll was the only decent dish but even that was below average at best.

I also liked how straightforward everything was. It's mostly self-serve with the kiosk, which makes ordering quick and easy, but the staff are still around and super helpful if you need anything. The food does take a little time to come out, but it's clearly made fresh so it's worth the wait. The environment is clean, organized, and has a chill, no-frills vibe. It's not super fancy, but it's comfortable and perfect for a casual meal. It can get a bit busy and seating is somewhat limited during peak hours, but that just shows how popular it is. Overall, great spot if you want high-quality sushi without spending a ton. Definitely a place I'd come back to.

I ordered online and I wish it was a little clearer but I watched a chirashi bowl , instead I ended up with salmon only bowl with hotate upgrade and ikiro. I also got a couple of toro nigiri and hama rice dish. The fish was pretty good for the price. It was fresh, firm and taste good. The hama was dry and almost burned so I didn't care much. They didn't use sushi rice and just plain rice. I asked that my chirashi bowl comes with no rice but there was rice They were pretty busy when I was there so it's probably better if you order takeout. It was crowded and feels claustrophobic. Service was ok, they had my food ready earlier than expected and that was nice.

From the moment I stepped inside to the decor and service to the taste and quality of food, I was impressed the entire night. Most bbq places are laid back and loud, but this place is refined, sophisticated, and everything you'd want for a date night or celebration. Starting off with service, everyone we spoke with was lovely and inviting. We felt welcomed and our server kept checking on us, but wasn't too invasive, so we were able to catch up. We were greeted with hand towels and 3 options for water. Cutlery and tableware were nicely set up and I'm obsessed with their plates! I was blown away by all of the dishes we ordered but my favorites were definitely the Uni Toast, Wagyu Volcano, and honestly all the meats we ordered to grill. They grill your meats for you, so it is a bit awkward because the person stands there until everything is done, but it's cooked to perfection! Highly recommend for a nice date night or celebration dinner.

We started with a wagyu toast and the meat just melted in your mouth. We also had alaska king crab with A5. Kind of a surf and turf nigiri. The uni toast was a little too much toast but it was a generous amount of uni. The Rubik's cube was a literal cube of meat. They cook it to perfection in front of you. Lots of sauces and sides to try. Everything was very good. It's amazing how different each cut of meat tastes. I loved the silky egg yolk in the volcano. They offer bottle service as well as drinks and their drinks were excellent. Would definitely go back!

We like to try places in the Renton area because it's the halfway point between our homes. This week we went to Mori Sushi in the Renton Landing. Immediately upon walking in I felt the interior to be very comfortable, welcoming and tasteful. Our server was terrific. Very helpful since my friend isn't so familiar with sushi. He ordered a specialty roll, a Hot Dream, which he really enjoyed. I was concerned that there would not be enough food for him but it was the perfect amount. I had the Chirashi bowl--high quality ingredients. We both agreed that this is a restaurant we would return to and that is my highest rating!

Service was great at first, though they didnt check in if we wanted to order more (we had gotten a few small plates to start but when we wanted more we couldnt find anyone and no one checked in). But towards closing they were pretty pushy about us finishing up and leaving (and verbally told us so) which I'm not used to experiencing (we weren't the only ones that were there late and hadnt been there too long).. and I'm not usually at restaurants til close (this was just a long overdue catchup) so it was kind of irritating that they were so pushy about it. We had gotten off work late and made plans but couldn't find many places open late, so we had to make do with the times available (everything pretty much closed by 830 or 9p), so it was a really rushed dinner and felt like that when they rushed us midway to hurry up. Otherwise, other than some rolls seeming a tad expensive, they were pretty good. Some were better than others, we tried about four of them. The fave dish though was the ika geso (fried squid) appetizer, the sauce was bomb. Would come back.
