I was pleasantly surprised to find out this store has everything. Even less politically correct things like spray paint bottles. My inner artist came out to play in this store. I looked at stamps, I looked at pop-up cards. In the end, I just went with my original safe choice and bought a Moleskin Notebook. Next time, I'm back for the stamps.

This is such a shame as it was famous for being individual and it just goes to show the once bohemian air to North London is ever being lost to the bourgeoisie. Ok, well rant over. This is still a great art shop, specializing in fine art materials over two floors. They also have an original choice of cards so if ever I need a card at the last minute I usually dash in here. Some items aren't very good value, but they often have offers on and I've bought a few very good quality sketch pads here before. The staff are very helpful, although sometimes I've found it to be a little difficult to get hold of one when the shops been slightly busier. Now they have an air of melancholy about them as I think the best thing about Art for Art's sake was the shop front! Hopefully they'll be able to find something equally cool, but that will please the residents. Or, maybe not. Beige anyone?

How unfriendly customer service is that? They're good, but so are many others and unless they're on your doorstep, go somewhere else; who needs to feel their business is worthless?

I was almost overwhelmed at the selection and quality. The store also sells beautiful cards, books, mugs and oh yeah pictures. What I like the most about the shop is that they will frame pictures you bring in and when I asked about pricing they seemed to be pretty reasonable. In addition the store does carry some incredible pictures, including one of Audrey Hepburn that I had not seen before and I'm a huge fan! This is a great shop to find a gift for someone who likes interesting and clever gifts.

I wanted to try and combine a few similar themed ones into a framed series. Anyway the guy at the store was very helpful and had great taste and we figured out some combinations and adjustments that seemed to work. He gave me a goodish deal and asked me to come back in two weeks. I was not prepared for how awesome they turned out. Absolutely beautiful! There was a craftsmanship beyond the measurements and settings which you will not get from a standard art store. I think it's worth taking in art works here, and maybe even family pictures, to elevate them beyond the ordinary.

We got a bespoke frame and the staff member who helped us was very knowledgeable, making suggestions about colour and style and able to back up his choices. He talked us through different matting and glass options; we've had our ketubah up on our wall for a few months now and it looks just as beautiful as the day we picked it up. Their main custom comes from London Metropolitan University students as they are in the middle of the Holloway Road campus. Students get a 10% discount which I love. The man who runs the store is very nice, helpful and always up for a good chat. For most of your art and stationary needs, they can provide it at a much cheaper price than some of the Central London shops. If you are unsure about what they may stock, give them a call and they are happy to tell you what they have and what they charge.
