We both had driver's licences but hadn't driven in a few years, so were quite nervous thinking about our first few trips in the brand spanking new hatchback. I got the hang of it pretty quickly, despite one terrifying evening of driving round north Belfast with the interior light on and the headlights off, wondering why the hell people were blaring their horns and shaking their fists at me. After a while, my extremely tentative wife asked me to take her out for a driving lesson. She made me promise not to shout. But, after swinging on to Sandyknowes roundabout at forty miles an hour in front of a bin lorry (which just missed us), one screaming fit (me) and a prolonged bout of crying (her), we decided not to pursue this obviously insane course of action any further, and to book a few driving lessons instead. We found a company in the local listings , and a guy called Manuel took my wife out for a few lessons. I wasn't there, obviously, but by all accounts he was calm, instructive and had the patience of a saint. All the qualities I lack, essentially. I still do the lion's share of the driving as the Sandyknowes incident has psychologically scarred me for life, but my wife has no bother now in jumping into the car for the school runs or whatever. Thanks folks, don't know how you did it!

This is a great little country school which has went from strength to strength year after year…read moresince i attended many years ago. The school has a very strong community spirit and has a real family atmosphere. The teachers are all lovely to deal with and a first class education is provided to all students. The location of the school is quite rural making it hard for anyone without transport to send their kids here but it still have a very active intake and is expanding every year. The school has had many closure threats over the years but have been able to survive these.

As parents we find Creavery a fantastic primary school for our daughter. We can't speak highly…read moreenough of it. The staff are all very friendly, approachable and experienced. One teacher got an award for being one of the best primary science teachers in the U.K! There are only two specialist science primary schools in Northern Ireland and Creavery is one of them! There are plenty of excellent after schools activities and each child is definitely valued and respected. There are parents meetings regularly for each class to keep parents up to date with what is going on in the classroom which are very informative. It is a very busy school with brilliant staff who ensure that the pupils aren't disadvantaged in any way because the school is 'smaller'. There is also a great community spirit with plenty for parents to get involved in eg craft & craic, bumps & buggies and lots more. The intake has been increasing every year and that is no surprise. Most importantly our daughter loves going to school and is very happy there. We highly recommend Creavery Primary School.

I didn't want a large group class and I didn't ant to pay over £100 a month either. Basically I wanted to have the best of both worlds. And, insistent little blighter that I am, I got it! My kids now go once a week to the Robin Gordon swimming school which runs in the pool at Campbell College. The coaches are excellent - I think they are from the sixth form swimming team at Campbell so not only are they excellent swimmers who know their stuff, but they're also still young enough to know how to relate really well to the kids. My little swim stars have improved dramatically since they started these lessons a few months ago and I am more than happy with the coaching standards. The kids really look forward to their lessons which is a good sign and in fact one of them insisted on going straight after he had a tooth out at the dentist. There is always a little bit of play time at the start and end of the lesson so everyone's happy. I will definitely sign up next term. Oh yes, the cost. £5 a week each which is excellent as the class sizes are small.

My work put me through forklift training six years ago and a refresher course last year for a…read morecounterbalance forklift. The training consisted of watching a health and safety dvd and a short multiple choice test and the practical test on the third day and practical experience was on a three days. The practical test involved lifting and stacking pallets and going through a course made of pallets standing on their sides to form a right and left turn, the object was to drive through with pallets on the forks set them down and reverse back through then drive through and bring them back on the forks. Two people I work with failed and the examiner tried his hardest to help them but they both hadn't driven anything before not even a car and I think nerves got the better of them, in fairness to the examiner he made the right decision as you need to be safe above anything else. The forklift license covers you anywhere you work though my work being sneaky claimed it doesn't, as they paid for it they won't give me it. My advice is pay for any training you get for any job and keep hold of whatever license or qualifications you gain. The training was carried out at my work and we were unloading lorries during training which is a good thing as you'd be unloading lorries when you'd have your license, at least your getting advice as your learning.
