A new restaurant in Dungarvan. Actually, two new restaurants within a few doors of each other, both named IASC. One is a sit-down and the second is an excellent takeaway. This is a review of the takeaway only. IASC is Irish for Fish so the hint really is in the name. The restaurants are owned by a local family whose primary business is fishing so all the fish served here is caught by the ultimate owners. Vertical integration at it's very best. They pride themselves on quality and freshness and I cannot argue. We opted for scampi and chips and battered cod and chips and repaired to our nearby lodging. Both were piping hot, there were far too many chips although in my book that's a contradiction in terms. You can never have too many chips especially when they're as chunky and perfectly cooked as these. The scampi was plentiful and delicious as was the cod. The boxes to transport the food was recyclable so even if the food is deliciously unhealthy, I was left with a faint glow of virtue as I could recycle the packaging! It's not cheap but it's great value. Another option added to the growing list of restaurants in the bustling town of Dungarvan. read more
