Apparently it's a super known place, old and appreciated in Valencia. They won some award and they are also famous for creating some original flavors like paella, gazpacho, salmon.... Well I'm not so adventurous and as I said I wanted something sweet so I choose something more basic : blueberry ans mango. My enthusiasm ended pretty soon, at the first bite actually, this is just not tasting good...you can barely recognize the flavor because of a strong taste of cream and sugar. I should have guess that seeing the colors ot it, too pale to taste like the real fruit. So, this is more that disappointing...I was really speechless looking at all those people enjoying their ice-cream and I was thinking to myself "Am I too demanding?", it may be because I lived in Italy and had the best ice-cream there...then I try this one another time annnnddd nope! This is just not good at all, I coudn't finish it and it ended in the trash... Conclusion : make yourself your own opinion, and don't trust the crowd, some people just has no taste :)

It's a tiny shop right next to the church in the center of the square. There was a little bit of a line but it moved quickly. We both got two flavors with pistachio being one and we both loved it. I had chocolate with mine and my friends was a fruit flavor that I don't recall the name of. We sat outside on a stone wall and people watched while enjoying the beautiful afternoon in Valencia before heading back to our airbnb.

There is no seating area; just a stand along the street where one can order from about 15 flavors of ice cream or purchase an inexpensive soda or bottle of water. I'm very honest when I say that this is my favorite heladeria. I could be on the outskirts of town, but I will trek to the center of town (working up quite a sweat!) and stop for a cone. The flavors are very typical of what you may find in Spain - turrón, nata, trufa, Rocher. I love the intensity of the flavors and how smooth and creamy the ice cream is. It makes even the richest of ice creams in the United States seem as though they were made with skim milk. My favorite combination is one scoop turrón (the best I've had and I've eaten A LOT of turrón ice cream - it tastes like biting into a piece of Jijona turrón) and one scoop trufa (a vanilla-based ice cream that has an abundance of chocolate shavings; you cannot even see the vanilla base. The shavings look as though they were made with a pencil sharpener!) Although there is no seating, there are plenty of benches near Plaza de La Reina (a short walk away).

Tucked away in a quiet plaza behind the Lonja is this little gem of a cafe. Actually, it is less a…read morecafe than a hot chocolate, hortchata, and buñuelos establishment. Buñuelos are super delicious deep-fried lumps of soft dough rolled in sugar that are traditionally available only during Fallas time in March. Hortchateria El Collado is one of a handful of places in Valencia where you can get them year-round. They deep-fry them in a big vat right out in front of the cafe, and they do an amazingly good job of it too. I also quite liked their thick hot chocolate. I think it is better than the hot chocolate they serve at those tourist favorites El Siglo and Hortchateria Santa Catalina near Plaza de la Reina; the prices are better too. Don't expect anything fancy though; the decor is pretty basic and functional.

It wasn't even a hot day but I knew I had to try what Amorino had to offer and I wasn't disappointed. I'm no connoisseur; I just enjoy gelato as much as the next guy. But the gelato that Amorino makes has the selection of flavors I have come to expect and, of equal import, the texture. The real thing that make this place special is the care with which they dip up the cones. Instead of simply slapping gelato onto the crown, the gelatistas carefully craft gelato flowers, layering "petals" in and around the cone. It's really something to behold!

The value for money is aweful, for 3,60€ i got two small scoops of ice cream (which filled only half the cone). 1/5 not reccomended!
