I used to go to the Ichibon greenspoint location over 10 years ago. I had always wanted to try the other location and I was so glad I did! This location was very clean and has a very nice interior. I came 45 mins until closing, (mountains of traffic this day) but the staff was sweet and kind to make me feel welcome and not rushed. You can choose regular seating or hibachi style seating. I went with regular this time, my regular order at Ichibon is sake bombs with Ichibon beer. Very good highly recommend and please have a designated driver as the sake is strong. Jalapeño rolls are absolutely amazing lightly fried stuffed with salmon, cream cheese and fried tempura shrimp. Ichibon has a special sauce seems soy sauce based but it's absolutely delicious and also a must try. I love ordering all of the appetizers, if you like eel I recommend it's my favorite here. Overall wonderful experience 10 out of 10 high recommend!

    Beef vermicelli bowl

The vermicelli bowl was absolutely amazing -- so fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced! Everything tasted super clean and delicious. You can tell they use really fresh ingredients. Jonny, the owner, was so friendly and welcoming -- his great service made the meal even better. Definitely coming back soon!

    Beef Fried Rice

Yummy! Food came out quick! The service was great! Waitress was nice! It was nice and quiet in there too. Really chill.

Let's start with the positives, the restaurant itself and ambiance was nice, clean, inviting...lots of staff! Loved that they had a happy hour on a weekend day, we ordered sushi, sake, and crab puff rolls off the happy hour menu and they were all good. I feel like we would come back at some point and just do happy hour. Lots of good choices on the menu. Soup was very good, loved the soup. Salad was good, very tasty dressing. Soup and salad came with hibachi. Our waiter seemed very rushed, nervous, somewhat annoyed. This was our first time here, and first time looking at the menu. It seemed odd that he took our menus after we ordered a few things off the happy hour menu, if he would have left the menus we would have probably ordered more off the menu. We still had over an hour before happy hour was over. Drinks were okay, I ordered iced tea partner ordered sake. It was supposed to be cold, but seemed more lukewarm temp. Now for the Hibachi, I'm going to be honest it seemed like the guy was struggling. There was barely any interaction throughout the whole experience, and as you know that's what Hibachi is all about. I ordered the steak and shrimp, partner ordered the scallops. Everything was cooked with tons of oil, the shrimp and scallops were drenched in oil and there were some pieces that weren't cooked all the way through. Veggies were barely thrown on and taken right off, they were hard and lacked flavor. The whole point of grilled veggies is the slight char, and taste of the grill. He did remake the scallops but we didn't ask him to remake the shrimp or veggies for the chicken fried rice because at the point the medium steak was turning into very well done. The rice was okay, again seemed very rushed...veggies were barely cooked before chopped and grilled with rice. The service seemed very sloppy, rice veggies flung outside of grill, beside some of the customers plates...cleaning the grill to where we shielded our clothes a few times...he seemed very confused with the orders/waiters notes and seemed like he just wanted to be done. He spoke maybe 3 times the whole experience. I'd like to think that we just got a newer cook, the food itself may have been better maybe if we had a different cook experience. I've done several Hibachi experiences and this one was very lackluster, the table as a whole seemed very underwhelmed. The manager stopped by to discuss the scallops, gave feedback regarding the tons of oil, etc. He gave a military discount I believe about $6. Overall I think for a $100+ dining experience I definitely expect more in terms of experience and treatment of the food. Not sure if we'd return, the guy dining next to us suggested Shogun his issue was that the portion sizes were too small. We might do a stop in happy hour quick bite at some point, but not for Hibachi I don't think. There are so many other options to try.

We were initially told the wait would be about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to an hour. Once we were finally seated, ordering through the iPad was simple and convenient. The sashimi and hibachi dishes arrived quickly, while the specialty rolls and fried items took considerably longer because of how busy the restaurant was. To get the most value out of an all-you-can-eat experience, I usually focus on ordering sashimi. My favorites were the salmon, yellowtail, and eel, all of which were fresh and enjoyable. The spicy scallop sushi was the standout of the entire meal and easily my favorite bite of the night. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and that was the one I kept going back to. The steak hibachi was solid, with well-seasoned meat and generous portions. The fried oysters and crab rangoons were both crispy and cooked well without feeling overly greasy. The specialty rolls were good too. While none of them particularly stood out, they were all enjoyable and well made. Overall, there was not a single dish that I disliked. Even with the much longer-than-expected wait, the quality and variety of the food made for a satisfying all-you-can-eat experience. If you plan on visiting during peak dinner hours, I would recommend expecting a wait, but once you're seated, there are plenty of options to make the meal worthwhile.

This is my family's go-to restaurant for Chinese food in the Clear Lake area but not sushi (due to lack of specials). Any Chinese dish at Akashi will be excellent. They use high quality meats and seafood compared to pretty much any of their competition in the area. The fried rice is great and the egg rolls are honestly among the best I've ever had. The food and service is very consistent. I wrote a review a few years ago which was only 3 stars and that was because my wife and I ordered sushi and the servers could not answer any of our questions. I think that is because the restaurant was brand new. We haven't experienced any of those issues since then. The sushi here is good, but there is no sushi happy hour, so we typically eat elsewhere if we are going to binge on sushi. Pro tip: Order the Singapore Noodle. I've tried everything here and it is my favorite dish. I married into a Chinese/Vietnamese family and we all agree on this.

The broth was flavorful but not overly salty, which worked perfectly for cooking the meats and vegetables. The beef slices were thin and fresh, cooking quickly in the broth and staying tender. One thing I liked was the sauce bar--there were several options like ponzu, sesame sauce, garlic, and chili so you could customize the flavor exactly how you want. Service was friendly and attentive. The staff explained how to cook the ingredients properly, which is helpful if you're new to shabu-shabu. The only small downside was that it can get a bit busy during peak dinner hours, so you might have to wait for a table. Came in with a group of friends for a late dinner and wanted to order a lot of meats. We ended up ordering 12 meats to start off for the three of us at one of the tables but only ever got 7 of our meats. Wasn't the biggest issue, and I was still fine at this point. For the next ~20min after we finished our meats, I see our waiter walking around, helping out one table at a time and then just dip, not seeing them for a long period of time. Eventually, the lady working at the front desk helps us order our meats, and our waiter comes out 5 minutes later to ask us if we need anything. I don't really know what happened here, everything still tasted great, but waiting this long to eat more really just kind of ruined the vibes of this meal. Hope my next experience is better.

When we walked in we were treated by Athena, who really made the whole experience! As time went on it stared to fill up quick! Athena has great hospitality! I had high expectations as an amateur food critic and picky sushi lover. Koyo exceeded my expectations and gained a new fan! We got the 5 hand roll, Tuna Crudo, YellowTail truffle crudo, cucumber salad, and an extra scallop hand roll (because it was tooooo good). We started with the Salmon hand roll. I'm very picky about salmon, it's usually too fishy. This salmon was fresh, cold, and fantastic. I actually preferred it over the fatty tuna hand roll, which was our second. We then got the blue crab roll, this was more of a blue crab salad. It was mixed with a very light sauce I believe. Almost chicken salady texture. A little fishy but now overwhelming. Then came our favorites, the spicy scallop roll and truffle yellowtail. The spicy scallop roll isn't actually spicy, but packed with plump diced scallops tossed lightly in a bright cliantro cream sauce before wrapped in the seaweed. It was so good we ordered another! The truffle yellow tail was also bright and melted in your mouth. Get the four sauces to try! The chili crunch was our favorite!!! Side note: compared to other hand roll bars. This place did not smell bad like a fish market. The seaweed was CRISPY and mellow and not overpowering. The decor was light and the little crab chopstick holders were a cute touch. I was truly truly impressed and can't wait to visit again. Shout out to Athena for making the experience fantastic.

They don't have dessert but they are near dessert spots. I actually really enjoyed their rolls the seaweed wrap was crunchy and the inside was warm and you could taste each individual flavors inside the roll. I tried the 5 roll set Salmon Fatty tuna melts in your mouth with the right amount of flavors Crab thick and meaty Spicy scallop loved that you could get that hint of spicy from the seasoning Yellowtail I tried the yellowtail crudo in ponzu sauce Salmon crudo in mayo based sauce and tuna crudo in chili oil. The yellowtail crudo was my favorite. The ponzu sauce really brightened the dish with a hint of lemon zest. The salmon crudo was my least favorite only because it was a thicker sauce and heavier so it overpowered the salmons flavor. The tuna crudo was pretty good though I wonder if they could blend the ponzu sauce with the chili oil and it would've kicked it up a notch. I also tried the lobster roll which was not the typical one from the menu I tried the butter lobster. That one was my second favorite.. you could taste the quality of the lobster. They drizzle the butter on top and wrap it up. Rating: 5 stars Service was great the manager was there and she was very attentive.
