FRENCH ONION SOUP DUMPLINGS = God's gift to the food world. If anyone cares, I am honestly shocked and appalled at myself for never writing a review for Ichiz. I can sum Ichiz up in a statement: Everything is great! Although Ichiz looks small from the outside, it extends into the back and also has a nice outside patio area. I didn't know this for YEARS and I've been there several times. I've sat in the front and have just assumed this was all it was - wrong! I like the feel too, intimate but not too close to other diners. The food is delicious. The menu is great and there's a large variety of small plates. Their french onion soup dumplings are my favorite (if you couldn't tell) and are reminiscent to those at the Stanton Social in NYC, which is an amazing thing, they're delicious. The scrambled egg and shrimp dumplings are also a winner. The sushi is fresh and there's a good selection of cooked sushi items for those who don't dare to dine raw. The hot pots are also on point. They offer an extensive drink menu, the cocktails and dessert martinis are nicely executed and consistent. The wait staff is friendly and always accommodating. Took the girlfriend here for a nice dinner on a Thursday night. We were seated immediately, and the service remained extremely attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal, with out feeling intrusive. The food was incredible, and presented beautifully. The sushi was super fresh, maybe even up to kotobuki standards. Pricing was extremely fair, and because we went during happy hour. Most of our dishes and drinks were either half off or discounted. I really enjoy the whole experience when dining at Ichiz. It's one of my favorite spots in Huntington Village. The dining is small plate style. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service is very good. I love the bartender. He's always happy, smiling and quick with my drink order. The staff are professionally trained and spot on. The menu is very creative so don't be afraid to try something that may seem different. I love the Bim Bim Bat which is served in a hot pot with veggies, fish and a raw egg on top. It comes to the table sizzling. The flavor is amazing! I also love the dumplings. My favorite is the Buffalo dumpling served with a hot sauce and blue cheese dip which is better than any chicken wing. I also love the Tuna Tower. Its raw tuna tartar beautifully seasoned which results in a flavor that I have never really tasted before. I love it. The owner is a trained gourmet pastry chef so be prepared for something great. I've had her homemade pumpkin ice cream, fig mouse, pecan tart and chocolate cake. All Amazing! Be good to yourself and give it a try. Id like to start by saying the water has a strange taste to it. And they gave me just a little bit of wine...they gave us a little bit of jalapeño poppers...3 for ten dollars. The menu is pretty much strictly beverages. The really push the beverages on you . A glass of wine less then a quarter full . I'm really offended by these prices. I don't get it they say its Asian fusion but their menu is strictly alcoholic beverages. Other then. That the sushi we had was really good. With all the choices there are in Huntington we decided to give Ichiz a try. Influenced by the other Yelp reviews along with The NY Times review we had great expectations. We made reservations for 6pm for our Saturday date night but the place had plenty of empty tables when we arrived. Was this a bad sign? Time would tell. We sat alone in the back of the place next to the bar. Our waiter, Jerry, was very attentive and helpful. Taking out time to look over the menu which had many hand written omissions and changes it was clear to see that Ichiz specialized in dumplings. We ordered soups (scallops and cauliflower soup and shrimp wonton soup) and three different dumplings (pulled pork, scallops and bacon, lamb and cilantro) and two items that were reviewed by NY times ( bang bang shrimp and tuna tower). Everything was delicious! There was some back and forth regarding availability of soup (Betty had to change her choice of soups three times) because everything is fresh and made to order. We followed Jerry's recommendations twice and loved his choice of dumplings more than our own. All in all the atmosphere was cozy and quite. Take note of the hand made sketches that adorn the table candles. The food was amazing and the wait staff polite and professional while being personable and attentive. It's well worth a try. Since summer is here, my friend and I are on the look out again for cool spots in town. We saw this a week ago and thought we would stop by on a Thursday night for quick drinks. It was quiet but we totally loved the place! The decor is modern and very chic and the ambiance is very relaxing. Definitely a nice change from the other over-crowded and noisy bars around. There is also a small out-door sitting area with bamboos for the really nice summer nights. The bar tender, Kevin, recommended really good sake for us try and he is super nice and friendly. I already have a feeling we are going to become regulars here. Next time we will certainly come with empty stomachs because the menu looks delicious and unique. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with a few friends. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away. The atmosphere is somewhat upscale for the area, but a welcome change from the usual scene. Between the four of us we ordered the fried calimari, tuna tower, dragon roll, french onion dumplings, bacon strips, oysters, edamame salad and cucumber/avocado rolls. Everything was AMAZING. The cucumber/avocado rolls weren't on the menu, but they had no problem making them for me, and everything was made to perfection. After eating we felt full and satisfied, but not that sick feeling you get when you eat too much. Lastly we had the creme brulee, hot chocolate cake and pecan pie for desert. The deserts were out of this world; small but phenomenal. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars was because of the service. It seemed as though there was only one waiter working for the whole restaurant, which caused the service to be extremely slow. We didn't mind too much, but at some points it was like he just disappeared. Also, the order the food came out was very strange, no real method to it. Not a big deal, but definitely strange. Really interesting place! Of course, the rage now is tapas of all kinds. Very rarely do I do what's trendy or in at the time, but I love the small plate concept. Ichiz is Asian tapas, not sure if that's a thing but here it works. Wonderful choices in dumplings. My wife and I shared about 4 different varieties. Our favorites were the mushroom risotto and French onion soup dumplings. Yes you can taste the soup inside the dumpling!!! Really savory. Their sushi selection is small but the roll we chose was excellent. Great service, courteous, attentive, offered suggestions. Never felt rushed despite the place filling up around us. Wasn't thrilled with the wine offerings, but settled in with some vodka and sodas. My wife did enjoy her wine selection. We loved the laid back vibe but modern layout of the place. Back for the sixth time and still love the food. The service seems ok while some have criticized it in the past. The bartender is friendly and helpful in ordering, maybe some new waiters due to turnover but our food came out all right. Came here based on yelp expecting a choice of fusion tapas. Not quite what we had expected...it was a mishmash of Asian cuisine that did not reflect the flavors or the quality of any one cuisine. What was good: there was enough water to wash down all the sodium. There was also a cute candle with a pencil sketch that was cute. Here's the rest: Beef short rib in sizzling pot: tldr - wannabe bibimbap that failed at being a knockoff. Nothing was sizzling. Nothing like the sizzling pot bibimbap, but was a sad inferior version. Limp lettuce at the bottom, some soggy onions, with rice swimming in sauce and water from the lettuce. Red sauce was too salty and overpowering. Egg was ok, but the raw yolk probably wouldn't have cooked in the pot since it wasn't hot enough. Pork belly ramen: what the hell was this? I have never been more disappointed in ramen...soggy, limp noodles. 1 slice of mediocre pork belly in a sad broth. Shrimp and scallion dumplings: more like sauce with dumplings. Some orange mayo sauce was slathered on top and overpowered the flavors of the dumpling! SO SALTY. There were 5 dumplings for 15 bucks! Wtf, going to my local Chinese takeout store, or go to flushing for good dumplings. read more

Went here the other day with a group of four and really enjoyed it. The place is very nice and they have an awesome array of dumplings. We really enjoyed the food and the service was phenomenal. Our waiter was super helpful in suggesting favorites from the menu and everyone who worked there was great as well. They as have a bunch of nice cocktails to go with dinner. 2.5 stars I wanted to try a new restaurant in the village and wanted to go to a "chic" place. Bam! found ichiz. Three stars for the staff and the owner! Amazing and friendly service. Nice modern decoration and nice plating! We got the salmon carpaccio, volcano roll, sliders, and the calamari. The calamari wasn't as crunchy as I liked it but the sweet chili like sauce was pretty good although a bit much. The volcano roll was wayyyyyyy too sauceddd.. Just too overwhelming, the rice part of the sushi was also a bit too sticky. I probably won't order this again...the sliders were nothing special. Just normal sliders. However, I loved the salmon!! Fresh and full of flavor. In general, the sauces kind of overpowered the food itself. Bahhhh I reallyrealllyyy wanted to like this place!! Huge disappointment as of late. I've been here many times with family and friends, ordering lots of food and drinks. Food is great, although some a bit overpriced like the steamed edamame, which depending on the day will come out right away or I've waited almost 1/2 hr one time for steamed soybeans, come on! Service and attitude from the bar tender is my main gripe. Be ware you will be totally "nickle and dimed" for everything...seltzer (no free refills like everywhere else I've ever been), and most recently I asked to "try a little" of their pumpkin beer on tap to see if I liked it only to discover at the end that I was charged $4 for a taste of beer!! Unexpected cool in Huntington. My wife and I wanted a night out - sans kids - in a place that was cool, not too over the top crowded - and delicious. This place scored on all fronts. I drove 45 minutes to eat at this restaurant, we sat down and our server, Kevin was so rude and frantic right off the bat. He made it very clear we were annoying him because it was "busy" for him when there was only 3 tables in total there both of 2 people each. He repeatedly talked under his breath about us and another table right in front of us. We had asked 2 questions and he seemed flustered, threw his hands up, and said "UGH i guess i can find out" "i am just the bartender they always do this to me". There was only 2 of us and we waited an hour and a half for the food so we asked to check on our order then we found out he never put the food order in and then lied to us that the food was almost done when we saw and heard him say to the chef that the kitchen didn't have the order at all. Such a horrible experience, Kevin made us feel so uncomfortable and then left us starving and had to leave since the food never came out. Would not recommend this place at all. read more
