Amazing hotel. Incredibly comfortable beds with amazing pillow. Stayed here two nights in the off season, and for those Fitbit subscribers, got a 90 and 89 sleep scores. As a reference, my highest ever is a 92. Always extremely polite and helpful at check in. Rooms seem to all.have a small kitchenette, great towels and again wonderful beds. Fitness center is a bit outdated, but has an elliptical, couple of treadmills and some weight equipment. There is a great little restaurant attached to the back of the hotel that you can walk to through the hotel. When in the area, it's a great choice. However, during the prime season it's out of my budget unfortunately. read more

Really exceeded expectations in terms of convenience, beach access, and dining options. Pool is dominated by little kids seemingly all the time so if you're looking for more of a spacious or calmer vibe you likely won't find it. Beach is the real sell here, plus beach bar. Booking experience was poor. Our previous stay at this hotel was fine. We will not be staying at the Spring Lake Icona this Summer which was our plan. The $100.00 cancellation fee is unfair as we cancelled well before 30 days of the reservation and the hotel will re-book our rooms with no problem. read more

Stayed at the Icona Avalon for 6 nights in June for a dance competition. Everything was wonderful. Lobby and pool bathrooms were clean. The pool, jacuzzi, lounge chairs and bar were top notch. We enjoyed the beach and appreciated the chairs and umbrella provided. The room was clean and serviced daily. It was QUIET at night which we appreciated. Honestly, on days where we could relax, it didn't even feel like we were in NJ that;s how nice the Icona was. We hope to return in December for a quick getaway. read more

Well my Icona stay is now complete. I have stayed at All three. Icona Diamond Beach, Icona Cape May. Now Icona Avalon. Which is the biggest beach resort. They also have a restaurant. Outdoor Bar section and a much bigger resort. This one is the most expensive of them all. My first stay was at Diamond Beach. I love the small amenities that they Include such as chapstick, typical soap and lotion. They also now include a small hand sanitizer. They also have slippers that you can have. Robes and towels & anything else missing would be an additional fee. We prepaid for our room in advance and don't get me wrong we wanted the ocean view room and we paid dearly for it. My husband wanted me to have a very special mother's day. My mom was out of town so I couldn't be with her. I definitely enjoyed it. My husband said we had the high ballers room lmbo. That it is! We also ordered enhancements. The fruit Tray and the meat tray was super delicious! Loved the way they arranged the platters. My only disappointment was it wasn't in the room even though I pre-ordered it. So I spoke to the front desk and they got right on it. The bed was nice and comfortable and the room was nice and clean. The view was amazing... we were located on the third floor. I just feel like when you go off season and prepay you should get a discount which we didn't unless you call a few dollars a discount. This resort has ample parking. Definitely not a problem there. If returning I probably would stick to Cape May or Diamond Beach but "Icona" still is one of my favorite place to visit while in the New Jersey area. read more

We are presently in the middle of a stay at the ICONA Avalon. Recommendations from friends about how much they loved their time here and a chance to enjoy the shore after a difficult four months of life in a pandemic made us excited; however, we have been met with disappointment on multiple fronts. Worth mentioning that this facility is doing their part to keep more or less all spaces sanitized. There are hints of lemon disinfectant permeating the halls and hitting you upon entry, signage indicating appropriate COVID guidelines, all staff members in masks at all times, and a clear presence of cleaners. The ICONA IS very beautiful, but our experience has been less so. Times may be unprecedented, but good service isn't. We left our room at 10:45am and returned after 3:45pm to discover our room had yet to be made up for the day. When both of my parents expressed concern over this and requested attention on two different occasions, they were met with indifference and flippant responses. Perhaps they are more than overworked, but this hotel is not at capacity as it's not currently permitted so we are unsure of how this happened. The food is fair; I wouldn't say it's the draw of this place. The wait staff is comprised of nice kids that lack hustle on the work floor. Can't really fault them but can't say it made dining at the ICONA much better. I know it's unprecedented times and I don't want to put pressure on anyone, but with a hotel operating at less than full capacity per state guidelines and the prices they charge, the service has been close to infuriating. If our experience was this poor at less than full capacity, I can only imagine what things will be like when businesses are allowed to open up. Again, this hotel is nice and it has made positive impressions on many, but we are not one of them. read more

Beautiful property, great amenities, friendly staff. Definitely had the resort feeling. Silly but the ease of getting back from the beach to the hotel was very unpleasant. They need to make a different path that doesn't force you through the restaurant/bar. So crowded, inconsiderate/rude people. Getting from the hotel to the Brew Pub was a bit weird as well. These two things aren't deal breakers by all means. The reason for the 3 stars was the mattress. For the price you pay per night and the upscale presentation they give, the mattress should match. It was awful! My hips/back were in terrible pain plus a stiff neck. Thank goodness it was only a 2 night stay. Not even kidding but if it were longer I would have demanded a new mattress or a topper. read more

Well folks, I need to revise an earlier review. Due to terminology; we were not where we thought we would be, we were placed in a street side room. the discrepancy evolved around "east side" and "east wing". The General Manger (who is a nice guy) said he thought I had what I wanted, and even sent me my email which did state East Side (pool side). He actually made my point for me. The street view was noisy at best and very disappointing. The second issue was the chairs they provide at the beach. This is the second time I was told they did not have enough to accommodate. I requested three chaise and was told "they are running out". After an awkward silence, he grabbed three for the three of us. The next day I thought I would be a team player and asked for two chaise and one chair. The chair manager said " we do not have any chairs" and gave me three chaise. While this sounds petty, at $800.00 a night, one would think they would have enough chairs for all. While the GM did answer my email, the owner did not care enough to reply. Bottom line; elsewhere next year. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Icona Avalon for Easter weekend. Everything from start to finish was excellent! They called to verify the reservation, and we were able to add an additional night at a low cost without switching rooms. The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. We ate at the on site Pub restaurant all three nights, and it was easy to make a reservation on my phone. The room was clean and sparkly, and very roomy (we had a King Suite with a peek of the ocean). It was quiet at night, in spite of being full of families who were there for the Easter brunch. The lobby is spacious and elegant. A plus was that you could even buy a bottle of wine in the hotel shop! The first night my wife realized she had forgotten her charger for her iPhone 15. I went down to the desk and the staff member found one in the shop, in a basket high on a shelf. He tried it on his own iPhone 15 to make sure it was the right size and it worked. FANTASTIC of him to do this, and it made my wife's trip! The bed was extremely comfortable. A very roomy shower! It is so nice being so close to the beach too. The balcony was a nice place to catch a breeze and hear the ocean. I can't say enough good things about this hotel! read more

Absolutely beautiful! This is my fourth time staying here and it's an absolute must stay at the southern new Jersey shore points. It's redone and it has the feel of a small boutique hotel. Very clean, nicely decorated, and always friendly people working. It's right on the beach for a nice walk and in the summer they have an outdoor pool and bar right on the beach. When we arrived this time Justin checked us in and we were celebrating my best friends birthday and he sent up a bottle of bubbly for us to celebrate. What a nice touch :) read more

ICONA Avalon - Pool setup - Hotels Near Me - Avalon, New Jersey

My young adult daughter and I stayed at the ICONA Avalon for 3 weekdays in August 2024. We arrived at the hotel at 1 pm and our room was ready, even though the check in time was 3 or 4 pm. Our room was located in the first floor, west wing. The room and bathroom were very clean, with many towels in the bathroom. The bed linen, pillows and comforters on the 2 queen size beds were amazingly soft and comfortable. The room has plenty of storage, including a closet with hangers and several shelves for clothing. There is another bureau with more space. A nice sized balcony is accessed through sliding glass doors ( with a view of the parking lot, in our case). The lobby has fresh iced lemon water available all the time. There are a couple of dining options, including the ICONA Windrift, which is literally right next to the ICONA Avalon. The pool is a little small, but clean and heated. There are plenty of umbrellas and chairs. There is a large hot tub, which is closed to children after 5 pm. We went to the beach shortly after our arrival. Included in the price are umbrellas, lounge chairs and beach chairs, as well as towels for the beach and pool. Two employees asked us where we wanted to sit and they set up everything, which is very convenient. The only issue we ran into was the noise coming from the room right next to ours. The guests in that room were a young couple with 3 young children. We didn't mind the sounds of the kids before 10 pm-this is a family resort. However, the kids continued to scream and cry into the late evening. It sounded as though the parents may have left a 12 year old to babysit, and the younger kids would not settle down. My daughter ended up calling the front desk around 11:30 pm to see if someone could possibly find the parents. This was promptly done and that was the end of the loud voices and crying. We did read that the ICONA offered a "complimentary Continental breakfast." However, this turned out to be not true. There was a very nice gentleman at the snack/drink bar in the lobby, who told us that there was never any complementary Continental breakfast but he offered to toast a bagel and pour some coffee for us at the price listed on a menu. We thanked him and instead ordered 2 bagels to go from the outdoor restaurant and used the in room Keurig for coffee. I brought cream and sugar from home because I do not like powdered cream or artificial sweeteners. All in all, it was a nice little get away. I will say that the room was REALLY expensive-even more than I thought at first, once all the extra costs were added. I do understand that high hotel prices are normal during the summer season at any beach town. read more

We came here in 2017 and it was nice. There was a very small crowd. They put roses in our room. We enjoyed. However, we went the same time this year 2021 and it was horrible. We have paid more than $600 for a room and it was the same size as an average room with and mini kitchen area. There was an overwhelming amount of people during this stay. None of them looked like me. Thats ok. Whats not ok are the looks, and rudeness. We went to the pool and everyone looked at us the entire time. It was as if my kind was not welcomed. The hotel lobby staff was very unprofessional. This was not the folks we had our first visit. The lady never even made eye contact with us. Long story short this place is not luxurious, overpriced, with racist unprofessional workers especially at the bar. Forget about the Avalon Pub, and most local places. I love it. I stayed at the Resort for the Girls weekend Shopaholic getaway through March 13-15, 2020. I would definitely recommend this Resort to my friends and family. Icona was nice I went to a wedding Expo. The vendors were amazing bartender Adrianne was the best bartender she was a whole vibe dancing and making the drinks the best, the second time she already knew our drink. Also starsheildent was great vendors very humble and great energy they payed for everyone's drinks for 10 minutes and played amazing music as well as took so many pictures with their picture booth. Do you miss when your mother would smack your little hands away from the thermostat on a hot summer night? Do you like a smoke detector the size of a small alien space craft? With bright green led lights surrounding it and flashing every 10 seconds on the wall at the end of your bed? (It's actually very helpful when insomnia strikes. I spent the last hour trying to snap my fingers just before the flash and almost nailed it twice!) If you answered yes to either of these questions, than have I got the place for you! Seriously though, it may just be my problem with authority but when I go to adjust the thermostat in my overpriced hotel room and the temp won't drop. I think to myself.. maybe it's me, I've never been any good with these goldarn fangled contraptions and certainly I've never stayed in a hotel (especially a "4star" one @ 400$ night) which dictates the temperature at which I try to sleep while enjoying my smoke detectors soothing intermittent glow. So it must be that I'm hitting that down arrow incorrectly again. I'll just go down to the reception desk and ask an adult if I'm going about this all wrong.... The adult proceeds to explain that they control the thermostats below and above the set parameters. So all you serial killers out there who need a dry cool place to ensure the bodies stay fresh. Or keep little old Mrs Johnson from reporting strange smells emanating from room 256. Then I'm afraid you'll have to find another place to stay. The night reception was kind enough to reduce the temperature by 2 degrees when I asked very nicely :) But stated "I'm not authorized to go more than that" The thermostat now looms in the distance but now taunts me like the yard stick on a hook behind sister Magdalens desk.Residing just below the diminutive space craft that is slowly stealing all my dreams; like some mysterious psychological weapon of war. I'm sure if u were to ask "hey what gives with the thermostat" you'd be given a diatribe about green initiatives and they're just trying to do their part. I'm inclined to think the only green they're concerned with is the kind in their margins. I understand a business must be profitable to keep the doors open, but there has got to be a better way than controlling the climate of your guest. Especially when the guest pay dearly to stay in your establishment. I could've stayed at motel 6 for 1/4 the price, all u can eat wings at the hooters next door. Ice cold ac and they always leave the light on for ya. I'm giving 3 stars as the staff is nice and outdoor facilities are great. The rooms are definitely dated. Water pressure in shower is extremely poor. Location is great as it's right on the beach. Definitely would not stay here again as there are many other 4 star hotels at this high price point that also have great beach front, staff and facilities. In this part of the marketplace it's about details and I feel they've failed to meet the standards expected. Absolutely STUNNING!!!! My sisters and I arrived for a bachelorette weekend on July 29th to the 31st. To start we were met with a young man named Will, who catered to our every need. The room was probably one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. Cleanliness is probably my biggest concern when traveling. I typically look into the bathrooms first when arriving at a travel destination. The bathrooms were immaculate!!! The grout was pure white and the tub shining. All the furnishings appeared brand new and the decor was lovely! Our suite had two queen beds, a kitchenette, two bathrooms, a separate king bed room and a pull out sofa. It was phenomenal. Our room was small and we needed a cot for one of the kids, we called the front desk to request one and they said we had to call an outside company to rent one. They wouldn't even make the call and arrange it for us. When it arrived it was awful, I mean plastic and just terrible. No room service, no mini fridge, no waters in the room. Stayed here two nights over the weekend during the summer for a wedding. The hotel is really classy. Super nice, super clean modern and is literally ten feet from the beach. It is definitely very pricey, but then again ... its the summer/ beach season in July and on the weekend so I'm sure the prices are high everywhere because its peak season. Overall this hotel is very nice. Clean quiet relaxing rooms with a small nice kitchen area and bathrooms with marble floors. I would stay here again... in a heartbeat. There is also a small breakfast cafe in lobby, and some nice outdoor seating with a bar and restaurant as well. If you're feeling fancy and don't mind spending that cash money, The Icona is worth it. read more

Review is for outside beachside restaurant only. Atmosphere is great and it's an easy walk from the beach to grab a drink or bite to eat. We were staying in Stone Harbor for the week and decided to try something different. We were seated quickly and the hostess/waitress could not have been nicer. Other than that we were not impressed. Drinks were average at best. My margarita was made with pre made sour mix which always tastes awful. The $19 dollar lobster roll was more of a celery roll with a bit of lobster. My wife's salad was 1/2 the size you'd get at Wawa for 3x the price. I understand controlling food costs, but this seems a little extreme. The next day, I Ordered a lobster roll at Ugly Mug in cape May. It was less expensive and filled with delicious lobster. read more

We've been coming every year for the past 4-5 years.. such an enjoyable vacation and we love staying here, even though rooms are on the pricey side. This year, however, we've noticed that the pool lounge chairs badly need to be replaced...the fabric is stained and stretched and you're sitting on the support cross bars - extremely uncomfortable and isn't consistent with the quality of the hotel. Wish I had brought my own lounge chairs. We mentioned it to a couple of staff members and they've said they've heard it before... time to upgrade your pool chairs! read more

Having never been in Avalon before I didn't know what to expect. The town and the hotel are beautiful. We went for a mid-week getaway. Being in a shore town in the winter gives you a real chance to explore and see the area with absolutely no traffic or people. We did go to the beach for a few minutes,but March is really not the time to go. I'm sure in summer it's spectacular. Got carried away,back to the ICONA the hotel is really furnished beautifully all in white giving the whole place a beachfront feel. With a fireplace and morning papers. The room was all white, clean and very comfortable. The staff could not have been friendlier. We had a great experience and will definitely return. read more

Sand bar is the perfect dinner getaway, nestled between the hotel and the sand dunes. The outside tables were spaced comfortably during this pandemic. Kudos to the Hostess with the Mostess for encouraging facial coverings when walking thru or towards your table. Wait staff was up beat and hustled the food and drink orders thru the deep sand. Food was average..a bit dry were the fish tacos. Atmosphere was tranquil with the seagulls overhead & the live music and the splash of the distant hidden pool. Last year we visited Avalon and wanted to return! So we booked a week at Avalon from 6/27/19-8/3/19. We expected a luxurious stay because we paid $500 a night. Avalon comes off as a high priced luxurious resort and it is the polar opposite. It is poorly run and when I was leaving the resort a young man asked me how my stay was and I said I would not be returning because --- The pool was extremely crowded with people who were not all guests. The resort was flooded with kids and drunk parents attending soccer and lacrosse tournaments. (Is this a Holiday inn???) The room was not clean. Flies were everywhere. Someone on the 3rd floor decided to take buckets of water to clean off their balcony full of cereal.. where did that water and cereal go.. onto the floors below... For $500 a night, we were expecting a relaxing, beautiful, and peaceful vacation and it was not!! All the young man at the front desk said was 'I'm sorry that you feel that way' Don't stay here if you want a peaceful vacation. 7/20/19 - update! A manager from the Avalon called and apologized for the stay we had in late June. We felt he listened to us and has taken our suggestions. Avalon, Thank you!!! read more

Labor Day weekend visit so we expected there to be an abundance of preschool kids ( there was) and a lack of some help due to college kids gone back to school ( there was). The rooms were lovely and comfortable. We had two adjoining rooms. The iron was inoperable in one and the shower door didn't close in the other causing a flood with every use. Tried to call the desk but no luck. Tried to stop by the desk but there was always a really long line. Oh well we survived. Most amazing and horrible was the virtual lack of WiFi access. How's that possible in 2019. The beach accommodations were excellent. Pool was crowded. Never got near the hot tub ( my favorite thing) as it was always packed with kids. Made me yearn for the olden days when the whistle would blow for a ten minute adult swim. There were three weddings on the three days we were there. Since the venue is off the main lobby it felt like an imposition to elbow our way through the fancy crowd with our sandy oily selves. Next time we'll try the windrift. read more
