Airport Shuttle
Greg K.

Great hotel, this was the only one at MXP that was reasonably priced as I got stranded here for the night! Dinner and breakfast run the 5-10 (AM/PM) and the bar is open until 1AM. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the airport shuttle runs 24 hours just outside of the drop off area at MXP (area 5 right across the Sheraton, which costs 5 Euros per ride and they take card/cash). Super convenient!! The shuttle brings you straight to the hotels entrance. Will most definitely stay here again.

We were only here one night, and it was a last-minute reservation after I started to feel a bit of…read moreanxiety that something would happen with our train from Verona to Milan the morning of our departure, and we'd miss our flight. (Let's be real: it's a valid concern here. As it was, we had to run between tracks at Milano Centrale to catch our regional connection, and just barely made it before the doors closed and it took off.) My chief complaint about this hotel is the lack of clear directions on how one finds the entrance. And look, it may have been sheer exhaustion or our vacation brains leading us to get lost - for several minutes - once we arrived, but I couldn't find anything on the airport's site, Marriott's site, or the map to pinpoint where, exactly, one entered the hotel. (For those curious, if you're taking the train in, make a left before you hit the big glass tunnel, you can't miss the doors and the sign. My husband mis-understood the instructions and led us on a merry (but not really "merry") chase through the car rental area before realizing we'd done a big ole donut and that we'd need help. Americans, amirite?!) The staff was friendly and helpful, which I've come to expect from Marriott employees the world over. The lobby was big and beautiful, and felt calm and welcoming - something I'm absolutely certain was planned because travel can be so stressful. My next observation is about the size of the hotel. It's not a complaint, more of a "whoo, didn't expect *that*!" because our room was up, over, sideways, into, out of, above and under. I kid you not, it took us almost 10 minutes to walk from the elevators to our room. My Bonvoy account is set up to request "room away from elevators" and did they ever deliver on that! It took us so long to get to our room that zero part of me wanted to leave it again until it was time to head to our gate. (But of course, the man needed dinner.) The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and the bed was just as cozy as I'd hoped. We got a good night's sleep, even though we got to bed late and had to wake up early for our flight. Was it an extravagance, booking a different hotel? Probably. Did it make a world of difference in our final day of travel? Absolutely. And I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Very convenient location, just steps from the train and airport. Walking the long hallway to our…read moreroom took longer than entering either of those. Checking in and out was a breeze. Quick and the staff member was friendly. The room was nice, clean, and quiet.

The lobby was inviting and bright, the room felt like a modern take at styling and it worked. Price wise, they were competitive and the restaurant connected to the hotel had a decent variety of food options to choose from. Another benefit was the breakfast is included and I was shocked that the breakfast started at 5:00AM. Great options only 2.3km from the airport. They did not have a free shuttle to the airport but for the equivalent of $15USD, Not bad for a good experience.

There is a free bus that stops about 1000 feet from the hotel. Taxi ride was $20 and shuttle $15 (used due to the rain). The hotel room consists of a comfortable bed, a relaxing chair and a desk. Private bathroom has a shower that is square. The doors slide half open at one corner of the square making access a little narrow. Breakfast is free from 5-10. Consists of many breads, eggs, bacon, cereal, juices and coffee. There is a dinner menu available as few options to eat nearby. Typical Italian foods that are decently prepared. 24 hour bar service. Both the shuttle and taxi remind me of Mr Toad's Wild Ride. The posted 50 kph on the roads are mere suggestions as both drivers went well past 80 on the straight stretches. Roundabouts were the most exciting. The airport is large, especially if traveling to the US. When dropped off check the monitors for the check-in area. Airlines based in US were out of the 20-24 area which, of course, were the far side. Once you get there and check in then back to the B gates. Another hike. With basically zero wait at checkin and security it took an hour from the hotel to the gate. I left extra early (3 hours before departure) and arrived at the gate the same time as the inbound plane.

The hotel is literally right outside Terminal 2, which is the domestic terminal, so if you're reading this in english you're probably flying out of Terminal 1. But dont worry, there is a bus right outside the Moxy that gets you there in like 10 minutes. Getting to MXP can be tricky. There are frequent train strikes, and yeah they usually announce them, but its still very possible you'll be in Milan and suddenly realize getting to MXP is a pain. MXP is not really that close to Milan. So if you have like an 8am flight and dont want to deal with a 30 min uber ride from wherever your staying, just stay at Moxy. I work in South Switzerland / Northern Lombari (think Como area) pretty often, and if your coming from there, you just cant get an early enough train to make an 8am flight. I've stayed at Moxy probably 10 times just for the convenience of waking up at 5:30am instead of something insane earlier, or worse finding out last minute the trains on strike and now you need to scramble for a ride.

We mainly liked how close it was to the airport and the free shuttle that ran every 15 minutes that was just across the street from the hotel. The family room had two twins and a queen bed. The beds were fine. The bathroom was huge, but the stand up shower was a bit awkward. There were no walls, just a curtain so it was easy to flood the bathroom floor if you weren't mindful. Breakfast that morning was fine. It had plenty of options though. You just give your breakfast card to the front desk. Do know that becauses you are near an airport it can get a bit loud. Thankfully if you have the air on in your room you are able to sorta mute the sound. The windows are pretty thick though. I am a light sleeper so thankfully with the air and how tired I was, we were able to sleep. I would pick this place for convenience!

Hotel Cervo offers a shuttle service to and from the airport up to 11pm at night for €3.00 per person. When you arrive in through the gates of the hotel the main hotel building housing the reception is immediately to your right with a second block of rooms facing you. Also on the ground floor is the dining room/bar. Our room was in the second block with our door opening onto the courtyard area. This block reminds me of a two-storey motel style building. As you walked in the decent sized bathroom with shower, toilet and sink was to the right and the bedroom itself came next. It's the same as hotels all over really. Bed, bedside tables, cabinet with TV on top, wardrobe. It was clean and a very generous size. Only downside was the bed which had pillows like sheets of paper they were so thin, and the bed was twin beds zipped together. I realise this means they can use it as a double or a twin room, but it's not the most comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was extra, I think €7.00 for a continental breakfast buffet; yoghurt, cheese, meats, fruit, pastries, cake, etc. It was nice but not terribly memorable. Then it was off in the shuttle for the trip into Milan. How much for all of this? €50.00 for the room. Not too shabby at all.

We were initially assigned Room 216, on the second floor, but in the outdoor wing and it was colder inside the room than outside. The gentleman at the front desk (who, by the way, was also the driver of the shuttle van) explained about how the heat cannot be turned on after April 15th and that it would automatically come on by the evening time, based on the outside temperature. Thank goodness he did change our room, to Room 210, in the inside building, because the heat did not come on until 11 PM. The room is basically furnished, nothing too fancy, but it was large enough and quite clean, as was the bathroom, the bed was comfortable, we watched TV for the first time on our 12 day trip and there were over 100 channels (99 of which were in Italian), there is a mini-bar, but you need to go to the front desk for the key (we did not), and there was good enough space for our bags. One thing to note, not sure if all showers were as small as ours, but I weigh 130 pounds and am 5'6", and it was a struggle to get into it. It is square and the two sliding half doors meet at a corner, so it's a REALLY narrow opening. Breakfast, at 5 Euros per person was nowhere near as fresh as other, more expensive hotels offer, and you can get only one cup of coffee or tea, but it was more than adequate, especially at $44 USD per night. We had reserved the shuttle to take us to the airport at 8 AM, and it was ready on time. Arrivederci, Italia!

I was hoping for an upgrade due to my Hilton Diamond status but we were assigned a regular room and that's okay. We actually got a single king bed as opposed to the double beds that I requested in the reservation. Thankfully, they were able to get housekeeping to prepare the proper room immediately and also provided a coupon for two free drinks while we waited. The prosecco went down quite nicely, thank you. Finally, a fully-enclosed shower. After hotels in Verona, Florence and Turin that all had the weird European half-enclosed shower, this was an unexpected plus. And despite the hotel being quite busy with a football/soccer team and at least two flight crews, the room was quiet and we got a good night's sleep. Dinner in the evening in the hotel bar was good. My traveling buddy had a cheeseburger that he enjoyed and I was too tired for all of that and just had a bowl of fries with mayo. Very European. In the morning, a full breakfast buffet with American, English and European style offerings. All well prepared and the staff were constantly clearing tables and resetting. Note: This hotel is near the Malpensa airport which is 30 miles from Milan city center and either an hour drive or an hour train to Milano Porta Garibaldi https://www.yelp.com/biz/milano-porta-garibaldi-milano-3. I checked out my map and no places to eat in close proximity or shopping for that matter. There was no way in hell I was going to get the car out of the parking garage again until I left for good. We ended up eating lunch at the hotel and was quite excited when I saw a burger on the menu. I wasn't excited anymore after eating that burger. It was terrible. Both the food and the service were bad. Again, we were given a discount for being Hilton Honors members with status. The hotel filled the need for a bed, a shower and WiFi.
