The main reason i like this station is for broadcasting the Ghoul for most of the late 90's to early 2000's. The show that single-handedly made me want to live here my whole life and be a weirdo. It is the only local late night show that mattered. More hip than Big Chump and Little Toilet. Usually on anywhere from Friday night at midnight to Sunday morning at 3(they kept changing the time so they could show more infomercials). This was during prime partying hours. Full of Cleveland lore like Dorothy, Ghoulardi, Baskerville Hounds tunes and featuring the acting talents of Uncle Scratch drummer, Brother Ed. Monster movies of the lowest caliber accentuated with sound effects, and segments where the Ghoul blew up pumpkins, turkeys and his nemesis, Froggy. Norton furniture ads first ran during this show. They are now a local legend themselves. I miss this show so very very badly. MST3K is a close second, but doesn't have that local flavor. This place would get a five if t was still on the air. I enjoyed seeing the layout of the spaces and the friendliness of each staff member, and I truly enjoyed the Latin music playing as we met. I was especially impressed with how volunteers and donations run this whole station!!! I highly suggest learning about your local college radio station. It's a genuinely enlightening and memorable experience.

That's a quote from a WCSB DJ during a midday shift. WCSB is somewhat like a guide to me when I make my annual visits to Cleveland each summer. It's something that my radio dial never wavers from in the car, except, maybe, when the high school kids take over and play Adam Levine, or the Indian trance music just becomes too much. But most of the time, the music on WCSB is a beautiful, eclectic but unknown mix of older and contemporary music, flanked by awkward PSAs and often college-aged DJ banter. More often than not, they're playing a gritty variety of obscure 60's/70's music, punk or garage rock that could not suit my drives through the city better. Anything from The Cramps to the original Spanish version of "Be My Baby." Something to compliment the rows of idle brick factories, abandoned apartment complexes, potholed streets, and forlorn, shirtless old men wandering the streets. I cherish these drives through Cleveland's gritty neighborhoods, and being able to stream this station while elsewhere only helps to remind me of what I really like about the city and why I continue to come back.
