TREES! Something that the other parks don't have in this area to beat that summer heat! Great place to stay!

It's a well-maintained, age 55+ property, so there were never any kids yelling or loud music blaring. It is also gated at night, and as a single female, I felt very safe there. The park is out in the country, so it is very quiet - the only sound being a rooster occasionally crowing, which was quaint. The property managers, Greg and Amy, were amazing. When I had issues, they were always available to help, even when they were off duty. The on-site shower/restroom, laundry room, and community room are always clean and inviting. The neighbors are all very friendly, and there is a large dog park your fur babies. When I moved out, they refunded my deposits promptly and in full. If you're looking for a great RV park, and you're age 55+, Central RV Park at Parkside is the park for you! I would still be living there if it weren't for my job.

#WhereAreLoveyAndMillieHowlNow #sunoutdoorslaketravis…read more We are on a year long trip throughout the continental United States in an RV and thought it might be helpful if we added reviews of places we've gone or stayed from a dogs perspective. So here we go The humans booked us right outside of Austin, Tx at the Sun Outdoors Lake Travis RV park and we have to say we give this place 's from a dog perspective one of the things we loved the most were the 3 dog parks, so space for all of us regardless of personalities. Each dog park has a few big trees for shade, picnic bench for the humans to sit & bags and trash close by. While there are no jungle gyms for us to play on, we are ok with that as that gives us more room to run off the crazies. Also no water bowls @ 2 of the parks, but the largest did have a water bowl along with a doggie wash station The park had nice wide roads throughout so the humans can walk us and if there are any other dogs, each can pick a side of the road if needed! Also a nice off road walking path. RV site - nice and enough room between RVs so you don't feel on top of your neighbor. Usually a tree or two per site, picnic table, and grass at our site. Only downside, no fire pit but it was warm out so we didn't really miss it. Humans are happy tho, 50amp service, great water pressure, and sewer available at each site AND daily trash pick up RV park - nice wide roads, no low overhanging branches, gravel site but level enough and enough room for a 42' trailer + truck Took about 20-40 mins to get to downtown Austin depending on traffic. Pool and jacuzzi for the humans, along with a airstream cafe at the pool! also a gym and a clubhouse, again for humans We would definitely stay here again, everyone was nice and the park was kept in great condition #bringfido

Someone else did the right thing and called the cops to put it out of its misery. When these honorable men arrived the female owner with a buzz cut lost it. The police ended the does struggle and then it all went downhill. This woman proceeded to holler at the top of her lungs all sorts of obscenities and curses at these people. Absolutely disrespectful and angering to watch. The man who I assume is either her husband or brother, silently watched in approval and glared at the policemen. That's the kind of place this seems to be. To be honest this is pretty typical of the owners. On another occasion I went to them to ask for a piece of information. It was the morning and the two were sitting on a log and had thrown a watermelon on the lawn for the deer. The whole occasion was a bit uncomfortable now that I think of it. The woman was dressed in a robe and held a dog. The man was dressed but both were staring me down as I approached them. Perhaps it was too early in the morning for them to deal with customers, but I figured since we were in the public area it would be cool. Not at all. The man straight up ignored me after I asked my question and I walked away with the converse just hanging. That's the kind of people the owners are presenting themselves as. This place is right next to a hippie dippie CBD/smoke shop and an industrial storage yard. They have semis, a bulldozer and random pieces of industrial trash just laying around. If you can deal with this, then hey, maybe this place is for you. The place right down the road, closer to pace bend park, seems like a better bet though.

Emma Long Metropolitan Park is located on Lake Austin, thus, you have spectacular views from the park. The hubs and I were not here for walking today but have a table picnic. The park has a portfolio of activities to choose from...a sandy beach style swim area, big shady picnic areas, camping sites, and incredible Hill Country views. When we visit, we normally spend a few hours, however, you could easily spend a lot more. You might ask, "Who is Emma Long?" Emma Long was a pioneering Austin civic leader, journalist, and politician best known as the first woman elected to the Austin City Council and a major advocate for civil rights, public parks, and working class citizens. The large lakeside park on Lake Austin, Emma Long MetropolitanPark, was named in her honor. The swimming area has a gradient entry into the lake with plenty of room to relax. There are also boat ramps, fishing areas, volleyball nets, and open space that's wonderful for just chilling. For hikers, the Turkey Creek Trail nearby is a park bonus and does not require paying the park entry fee. Yes, there's a park car fee of $XX . If you family members, business groups or couples, this is a great park to satisfy diverse tastes.

I couldn't even get a campsite reservation because it was so popular a few years ago. It is truly past its prime now, and not just with the lack of cliff jumping. The campsites seem to be at about 50% capacity. We drove past so many camping areas that were closed. They're not using their usual online reservation system, and instead you have to reserve by emailing them and requesting specific sites. This is very inefficient as I saw quite a few vacant sites in person that were supposedly taken according to the website. We stayed at Kate's and Johnson campground, which is a primitive car camping site with pit toilets. There were no sinks, but there was hand sanitizer, and the bathrooms were quite clean for pit toilets. The campsites each had a grill and fire pit, but there was a burn ban so we couldn't have a ground fire. There was also a picnic table at each site. They limit each site to two cars, and they told me I couldn't park elsewhere in the park or pay for just the parking for an additional car. I would have had to pay for another site just to add one car. There's a lot of land in this park and not a lot of people with plenty of empty campsites even on a weekend, so I thought this was a little unreasonable. We went hiking on the blue trail per the recommendation of the lady at the lady who checked us in at the entrance. She told us it has the best views of the park. We certainly reached the highest point of the park, but there were no views. It was all rocks and trees. The trails are all pretty short. We went up the blue trail and down the yellow from the southeast trailhead, and it was a total of 3.6 miles. I liked the hike for a bit of exercise, but there wasn't really anything to see, so we felt deceived. My friend went swimming in the lake, and he seemed to enjoy it except for the sharp rocks at the bottom. I didn't go swimming, but I'm sure it would be enjoyable on a hot day.
