It's the little things like this that make this a standout store. Unfortunately, I've heard the centre's Woolworths checks Metro's prices each morning and undercuts them. It concerns me that great locally owned stores like this one may soon go out of business due to this practice. Let's hope people choose quality and service rather than just price.

Not for Mother's day but because I often buy her flowers, and often fro metropolitan. I bought delphiniums which looked lovely and she was pleased. By Sunday morning, the majority of the leaves had wilted and half of the petals had fallen off! Because it was Mother's Day and we had family and friends visiting I did not have time to go back with them. By Monday morning they had to be binned. I returned on Wednesday, the first opportunity I had to report this. I spoke with the unnamed "manager" who advised they were aware that growers had been cutting flowers in some cases a couple of weeks early in order to get enough into store. I pointed out that I did not pay for 2 week old flowers and there was no sign saying they were reduced in any. Effectively he admitted they were selling produce not of merchantable quality. I was just met with a shrug and told if I had the flowers and a receipt he might be able to do something. Who keeps a receipt for a $20 bunch of flowers, and who keeps a dead bunch for days?The so called manager obviously had no idea of consumer laws, or even customer service. It wouldn't have been so bad as I wasn't looking for a refund, just to let them know. An apology would have been plenty.

Contrary to the common opinion, note Aldi products are Australian made and are usually just as local as alternatives in other supermarket chains. The environment of the interior of Aldi Blackwood is very comfortable. With wide isles and displays spread around rather than clustered, Aldi is a nice place to be. Aldi is a better alternative also because it provides more jobs to locals. Unlike the local Coles and Woolworths, Aldi has no self serve operated systems so you get the attention you need when shopping. I highly recommend Aldi above all other local supermarkets.

They have fantastic pre packaged meat off cuts really cheap and the dogs LOVE them. Like the ends of the hams and deli type meats, so good quality meat still. You can just as easily cut them into pieces and use them in salads or on pizza's. I have also bought really cheap, still in date, school snacks here. They have a huge range of lollies, chips and soft drinks but I try and avoid that section. Toiletries and deodorants are cheap here too. And I always buy my plastic BBQ plates here. They have the oval ones, which are heaps better size, for only $2 for a pack. Bit of everything here really so worth dropping in at least one a month to see what you can pick up cheap. This week it may be ice cream, next week it may be yiros meat, the week after..............

Customer service is more often good, but i guess anyone staff member can have a bad day. The way the store is set out is logical - something other competitor stores painfully lack. The car park layout is average (not their fault). Only issues that stop me giving this 5 stars is: (1) only re-supply of stock once every 24 hours...so in the afternoons the meat supplies can be scarce, and (2) the freshness of their fruit and vegetables are not top notch - "moderate" quality. Maybe now that they have expanded and upgraded - these issues might get sorted? It appears that they are now getting more customers. Oh and one more thing - apparently asking for 'cash-out' at the start of morning is an unlikely task. Apparently they don't keep cash in the tills in the mornings - until they receive them from customers throughout the day?
