I enjoyed roaming around this store having a look at all the interesting things it had. The products it carries, you can tell are mainly geared towards what the locals tend to buy so they didn't have very much in the way speciality stuff which we're use to being able to get but it was just such a huge and beautiful store that it was very enjoyable to wander through. The only downside I saw was the distance from where we were staying which was definitely not their fault!

I wish they stock more varieties of Asian products as well, especially Chinese.

Though, I should mention that this does happen to be Drouin, so I guess that there is a bit of the cafe culture permeating here. My grandmother and I ate lunch here a few days ago. We were looking for a cafe to eat at and…read moredecided to try Spiders Cafe after seeing a number of other people eating there. It felt like many other cafes in country towns: it was staffed by friendly people; the lunch menu featured items such as sandwiches, burgers, and baked potatoes; and there were a number of "homey" cakes and pastries for sale. The Italian focaccia that I ate was okay but certainly not exciting. It contained salami, sun-dried tomato, capsicum, onion, cheese, and mushroom. Improvements I'd suggest include the use of a quality focaccia, quality salami, fresh olives (they tasted canned), caramelised instead of raw onion, and fried/sautéed instead of raw mushrooms. Although I've given it a poor rating, the food satisfied my appetite and mostly met my expectations. Unfortunately I can't rate it higher when I compare it to the restaurants I'd choose to eat at in Melbourne and abroad.

The flat white was surprisingly good. The staff was very friendly, providing information about the area and even showing pictures. There's plenty of parking. There's a very small playground across the street, so it could be a good road trip stop to et some food, take a rest, hang out in the playground which is easily visible from the indoor seating and the outdoor enclosed patio, as well as from a stone bench out in front of the cafe. It's right by the highway so it's loud, but you're not trying to sleep here.
