Who ever said that a Cathedral was a dump? yea nobody. Almost pointless to review it cause anyone…read morewould just say "stunning". which it is. Some selected nights you can pay to go up to the roof. And it's awesome up there. You can enter the Cathedral's ground floor for 5 euros. I live here so I never pay, I sneak in during a bank holiday when it's open to the public. But what is great about this Cathedral.. is that it is unfinished. And had it been finished, America may not have existed. From Wikipedia: The south tower remains unfinished. A plaque at the base of the tower states that funds raised by the parish to finish it were used instead to help those British colonies which became the United States to gain their independence from Great Britain. So they used the money that was set aside to finish the Cathedral and gave it to help America fight the British. And it's still unfinished today.

So much beauty and history. Still an active church, you can still go to service. The neighboring church next door, almost as beautiful, has almost as much history, but NO wait and free, lol. Ambiance - Again, another huge beautiful church with so much history. Even the outside architecture is historic and beautiful. Service - Self service. Price - 5-15 Euros; $6 to $17 US; depending on which experience you want. See website. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1487.

The spectacular main entrance was popular both in the day and night for photos. The entrance to see the Royal Chapel where the King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabel were buried was to the right while the cathedral tour entrance went to the left. A discounted admission was only available online if you chose two or more sites to visit (out of five if I recall). The Royal Chapel itself had its own admission fee and no photos were allowed inside. A helpful app could be downloaded to listen to while one walked through the chapel at your own pace. Security was diligent in enforcing the no photos policy. Inside the cathedral, photos were allowed and it just dwarfed us we walked around. I couldn't get the app to reliably work as we wandered around so just reviewed any posted signs. The cathedral was built on top of a mosque unlike the Mezquita in Cordoba so it was grand Catholic Cathedral with Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque designs. It was befitting of a church for Kings and Queens with gold and intricate details.

Compared to cathedrals across Spain, this one is large in scale but not as ornate as others. The light and brightness of this cathedral is quite exquisite, but it otherwise is quite simple. The Cathedral ticket also comes with an audioguide app which is very informative and more or less can guide you through the space in a set order.
