Father Jude is visiting from Nigeria and brings a fresh new homily to the mass. Today he really did well in explaining how God is present in our lives. He really demonstrated how Jesus' message is relevant today. We are not alone in our journey and all the hard lessons that He teaches us, we never experience without Him in our life. I really felt at peace today.

I am currently attending another church, but is considering on coming back to SGV. This church indeed is on the right track. We'll see. The beauty of this church is the ample amount of open space it has for the church goers in terms of parking, the beautiful sanctuary, the nice basketball courts, and most importantly... feeling God's presence there as it feels like a retreat. The sermons here always strikes a chord as it is Biblically oriented. Pastor Cory's pastoral staff is amazing. Every pastor's sermon is mostly effective and also inspires the congregation. It always serves as a reminder on who God is. The worship team here is genuinely spiritual and not as flashy compared to other churches I have been to. They are all about leading the congregation through song and worship as we move forward in our Spiritual Journeys. The Sunday Church Service here is casual. There is no need to dress up when coming. Feel free to wear shorts, t-shirts, or whatever your heart desires. Just dress appropriately. They have two services. The first service is 8:00 a.m. and the second service is at 11:00. Depending on which Sunday or if it's a holiday, the congregation seems more packed. Yes, every church or any organization have cliques... in response to one of the other reviews I read. And there is no such thing as a perfect church. I love Evergreen!

Although this church treated me with open arms, at some point there was too much politics and stress between members at this generational church. There are Chinese, English, and Spanish services. English and Spanish services are upstairs. When I attended, they had a huge conflict between the English and Chinese congregations. There were a lot of politics at this church. Although I have since left the church, my faith and spiritual well-being took a hard hit from all those issues. Just know that this church predominantly Chinese speaking. Most people that attend the English services are high school - college age. I think most of them are children of the Chinese speaking congregants. The Spanish congregation is a separate congregation that rents out the church building. Just a quick note for those seeking an LGBTQ affirming church: This church is not affirming of LGBTQ relationships and was actively involved in the Proposition 8 campaign.

I came here after Mass to spend a few minutes in prayer. I had my small dog with me because I was…read morenot going to leave her in a scorching hot car. Mass had already ended, and there was hardly anyone there. While I was praying, with my dog quietly in my arms, a priest interrupted me to tell me that dogs were not allowed. I immediately said, "Okay, I understand, I'm leaving." However, he repeated it again as if I hadn't heard him the first time. I understand that churches may have policies regarding pets, and I would have respected that. What upset me was being interrupted while I was in the middle of praying. A simple reminder on my way out would have been appreciated. Instead, the interaction felt rude and disrespectful. I came seeking a few moments of peace and prayer and left feeling unwelcome. It was especially disappointing because I have always believed that God's house should be a place where people are treated with kindness and compassion. Anyway never coming here again.
