My family and I went there on a Sunday morning-afternoon and it was great! The hostess was very friendly and seated us as soon as we walked in the door. Our server was Ana and she was very nice and and always attending to us when we needed it. The food was amazing and came out very quickly considering how packed they were. I had the Big Steak omelet and it was huge and delicious. My parents also loved their meals as my dad got the crepes and my mom got the spinach and mushroom omelet. If you have read other reviews that have talked about them not seating people from foreign races, THEY ARE FALSE!!! The restaurant as a whole is very friendly and clean. I'm not from Lake City so this is my first time eating here and from my past experiences at I Hop they are either delicious or terrible and I can tell you that this is a good one so I will be eating here whenever I visit Lake City. We have all heard about southern hospitality, well I guess whomever was issuing it must have run out by the time they reached this iHOP at Lake City, FL. I walked up to the counter to be seated and literally 3 employees and the manager walked up to the counter, looked at me or right through me and did not even greeted me or even acknowledge that I was standing there. Another customer was leaving and a lady asked them if they were ready to check out, at that point I indicated that I must be painted on the wall, because no one sees me. Mind you the other customer was standing behind me. I was then told to sign my name up on a clipboard to be seated. I guess I must have known that this is the procedure at this unfriendly place. I ended up with the second person that ignored me as the waitresses. I made sure that my tip did not exceed 15%. It should have been a 2% tip if at all. Service goes a long ways with me as the overall experience at an establishment like this. They have a long ways to go, but i will not return to check if they improve and recommend others do the same. Skip this place and spend your money elsewhere, avoid the aggravation. I notice that customers that came after me, were receiving the same welcoming - none! Ahh... The beautiful smell of fresh coffee and waffles in the morning. Wether it's breakfast, lunch, or even brunch! IHOP is the go to! The super friendly staff is always inviting with a warm smile! And the atmosphere is very family friendly... When it comes to the food....IT WAS DELICIOUS... Usually I'm not one to write reviews about a chain business. Christmas Day and not much open. IHOP saved the day although on a limited menu; breakfast only or the Christmas Special Dinner. I opted for the eggs benedict. Place was busy but not packed, all staff were very attentive. With all of the new restaurants popping up in this growing City, if they're not willing to invest some money on a makeover, I see this Restaurant closing down soon. We meet here annually on the first day of school. I have continued to call in advanced every year to give a friendly reminder they will be busier than usual. I continue to get the same response, it's first come first serve, and they will do what they can. The extra staff request is never well received and they complain they didn't know they were going to have a large party. The staff today was quite rude. Telling us she is the only one available to assist us (party of 20+) and she can't separate orders so if parties are at different table we will have to pay individually, request for drinks had to be made more than once, no follow up after food delivery, no drink refills, and a very short attitude. We were on a trip for 10 days, and because my daughter is a fanatic, we ate at 3 different IHOPs. This is the ONLY one I would recommend, and I would do it enthusiastically. She had breakfast and I had a sandwich meal. Everything was the perfect temperature. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The server seemed to be the only one on duty at about 5 pm, and she was running the whole time we were there, but everything came out promptly and we got refills as needed. Must have been the servers first day. Super slow she forgot to bring our drinks. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks. No silverware. Kitchen didn't send out the correct number of pancakes. She only brought a half a carafe of coffee we ran out before we were done with our food. The only upside was the food was good. It will be a while before We go back. Best IHOP of 2013? Lol more like worst IHOP ever! After a 10-hour drive and starving and wanting to eat at a nice place, my family and I decided to stop in Lake's City's IHOP for some good food. Unfortunately, we were treated horribly. We were discriminated against and denied food simply for being Hispanic. The manager himself said that he was refusing to serve us and would call the police if we did not leave and eat elsewhere. Before this broke out, the manager had said there were no tables available when clearly there were enough tables to serve our party ten times. I myself, a minor (17 years old), am so disgusted with the racism we received, I will not be coming back. read more

We are leaving full and satisfied! Crystal was an excellent waiter. We never had to ask for a refill and our cups were always full, she came and checked on us often and kept us informed about the wait of our food. The house was packed and it didn't feel like it. A group of about 15 of us from the Columbia Amateur Radio Society met at I-HOP for some food & conversation before our regular meeting. We were able to be all seated together in that little alcove off the the left of the entrance. Our members are not bashful about saying what they think and I did not hear one complaint from any of them. The service and food were both great. We'll be back. read more

We came early morning & saw very few other diners. I ordered the hearty ham & cheese omelet. $9.99 stuffed with diced ham, a rich cheese sauce and jack and cheddar cheeses (with a coffee $1.99 & a side of bacon 2 slices $??) & my partner ordered the Big Steak Omelette$10.99 tender strips of steak, hash browns, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheddar cheese with salsa. Plus a drink $2.49. I asked the waitress if she could omit/leave out the jack cheese (spicy cheese) & just keep the cheddar cheese. But still have/keep the rich cheese sauce on it. She said sure especially since the cheese sauce is what makes the omelet! So not to much longer maybe 8-12 minutes later we receive our food & I notice my omelet looks over done (browning on the sides) & looks dry. I take a bite & it is super dry. I also notice no sauce on it. (not its so little you can barely notice it, or a sprinkling a cheese. But Zero sauce on or in it.) So I asked the waitress (since she had collected the menus) if my omelet was supposed to come with a cheese sauce. To which she replies, "Oh yes it is. Oh you know what? I bet our cook messed up that order & instead of not adding jack cheese, just plain ole didn't add any cheese sauce! He's known for that." My reply was "oh wow, just a dry ham & egg omelet then. Instead of one with any cheese or cheese sauce." She kind of of shrugged it off, apparently not noticing my sarcasm & went on to say about how the cook will learn one day & walked off. No offer of having another one made. This time correctly. (Since half of the ingredients were left out & the omelet was over cooked. Which I would of over looked (maybe) with the cheese) or ask if I would like the cheese & cheese sauce brought out to me, or have mine taken back to have any added on to it. Or maybe a discount, since I'm being charged for something I did not receive. But I was bothered by other things that morning. My husband on the other hand loved his omelet & it was over stuffed with the correct ingredients. His has much more flavor (obviously) than mine, though it still tasted like it was lacking seasonings even with salt & pepper put on it on the table. Our bill ended up being around $30 before tip. (ha tip, For having some one else walk 20 feet into a kitchen & grab our order? & bring his tea & a cup of coffee & it's pot? Either taking the order incorrectly, not communicating with the cook or just not verifying the correct order. aka doing their job. Will not be coming back. Oh & the tables were sticky & dirty & ours had to be cleaned by our waitress while we were sitting at it. Was like 4 other tables being used in this 20 something table restaurant & we couldn't get sat at a clean one? Or were all of the empty tables dirty also? They weren't busy, so why the laziness? Maybe it was due to everyone being at the front counter or in the kitchen talking to one another, just not about the customers orders. ~ha. Yesterday we were traveling from Naples Florida with 2 of our Grandchildren a very hyper 2 year old little girl and a 4 year old boy. Weather had been rainy also. When I walked in the waitress could tell I was a little frazzled. 2 of the waitresses were great they entertained 2 very active Grandkids so we could eat in peace for a little bit. First off, my family and I generally visit the Lake City, FL location quite often since we live in the area and are usually pleased, but there are a few times that some of the wait staff isn't so friendly or great at serving, and we try to allow that things aren't always going to be perfect. Anyway, honestly, we have discovered that there are only about three of the wait staff that is really good....two of the female staff members, one is a lady with a little gray and black hair that keeps all of it braided in a ponytail and the other lady, blonde, from another country, sorry can't recall their names at this time, but they are usually quite friendly, accurate and stays right on top of everything we need or ask for. The main server is a gentleman named Doug (Frank) and he is OUTSTANDING!!!! The BEST server you have (had) there, hands down. Very friendly, accurate, checks on us frequently, stays on top of our refills (needs and requests). He typically remembers what we usually drink and even what our usual order is. He's quite good with the children (has my grand-daughter wrapped around his finger, lol.). He usually greets us as we're walking in the door (in fact he see us pull up and he's ready for us before we get in) even if he's busy. He always makes us feel welcome and takes great care of us along with the rest of the customers....he's a wonderful human being and knows how to make you feel like your important and not just any ole customer and when he's there, our visits are always very, very pleasant. :) Now, this is part of the reason why I'm giving this location a 3 star rating at this time....the last 2, 3 times or so that we've been in, we noticed that Doug (Frank) wasn't there and it truly saddens us to find out that he isn't with the company any longer. We also have become aware (through Facebook) of an incident that recently occurred involving Doug (Frank) and was in total SHOCK!!! Honestly, we know we wasn't there during this episode, so we've only heard the other persons "so called" side of the story and we understand the company looking out for the customer. But, we find it very unbelievable that Doug was as rude as this person stated, not too mention some of the negative comments some of your staff's family members made about him. As I said before, we generally visit this location QUITE OFTEN and have NEVER EVER witnessed any bad, rude or ugliness from Doug (Frank) toward us, other customers, staff or anyone!!! He always goes over and beyond with customers. And the staff always looks and acts like they thoroughly enjoy working beside him. Trust me, I personally have witnessed hostile work environments many, many times before and I've never noticed any situation or tension between him and other employees during our visits. If he had said anything out of the way to this person (customer), fine reprimand him! But, giving into this person over what they're ranting about and allowing him/her to ruin a persons career is totally unfair and we find it really ridiculous, think about it....you've gotten rid of an outstandingly, warm, friendly, hard working employee over complete nonsense!!! And despite the good service that we've experienced in the past, we've never complained too much about this location, but, we have found that your restrooms are totally too small, not too mention completely undated...the hand air machine does a crappy job and with no paper towels to dry your hands with, you walk out feeling like your hands aren't very clean. And yes, a lot of your other servers have a very crappy and ugly attitude and they do not clean the tables very well, nor do they keep them stocked properly. They give crappy service and they screw up on the bill or they can't do the figures right or even give correct change. Also, one of your servers tends to charge adult prices for a child's (7-8 year old) meal. We're not trying to be ugly or immature about this, but as customers we find it unfair and appalling that this company is giving into a ridiculous behaving customer demanding their rights over nonsense and y'all forget about the rights of all your other good customers. I'm not going to say that we will not ever go back to this location (we're sure none of these things I've commented about probably wont be resolved), but employees and human beings like Doug (Frank) don't come along very often and since he is no longer there and a good bid of your employees aren't that great, I can honestly say that WE WILL NOT be visiting this location very often at all.
