I recently visited the IHOP in Tallahassee, and I must say, it was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've ever had. Upon arrival, we waited without any interaction for 10-15 minutes for a table, which I could understand if the restaurant were busy. However, there were only a few other customers there! After finally being seated, we sat there for another 15-30 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. The place was far from clean, with sticky tables and dirty floors, which didn't create a welcoming atmosphere. It felt like the waitstaff were completely indifferent to their duties; they seemed more focused on chatting among themselves than attending to the customers. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I won't be returning to this IHOP. I expect better service and cleanliness, especially when the restaurant isn't even busy. Horrible service; never got seated. Was waiting there for around ~15min and it seemed like there was just one employee there (who was trying to ignore ppl needing to be seated). There were other people waiting for any interaction for quite some time, but they gave up and left. So I was waiting there and two different parties that were seated called me over and warned me that I'd be better off leaving since they're so slow. The 1st lady said that's not my job to seat people & briskly walked past us & went outside. When I saw another waitress she ignored my request & walked off in a huff because I asked us to seated. The Owner of this Franchise needs to be on premises more often to train Managers on simple courtesy. We left & went to Waffle House & had a pleasant experience. I have never in all of my 73 years on this earth had such terrible food ( if you can call it that). Service horrible. Over one hour for food and the were not busy. Ordered two pancakes with two pieces of bacon and two scrambled eggs. One of the pancakes was stuck to the plate. Leftovers and microwaves. One piece of bacon, egg not eggs. Everything was wrong with the order and cold. I would have been ashamed to put that on someone's table. My husband's order was just as bad. I ordered a Pancake Family Feast, 2 burger 2 chicken sandwich family feast, and a chicken tender platter. The chicken tenders were rock hard and old, as well as the fries. The pancake family feast was okay. The burger family feast was just put together out of laziness. There was absolutely no one there, so I'm not sure why they couldn't have made the food like they normally should be. My lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and pickles were all placed separately from the soggy burgers. There was no one at the stand to greet customers when I went in. But the lady was polite when she was there. Ambiance inside was dark, as I had a takeout order I didn't stick around. Also this is important, the parking lot has MASSIVE potholes. The only reason why I ended up at IHOP was because the local eateries all had wait times and IHOP did not. To all my gluten intolerance peeps....THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE PANCAKES!! A bit loss for words on all the one star reviews, but it was my first visit to IHOP on Monroe St. First off. I feel sorry for the serving staff, you know they count on tips. You got that big sign , use it, turn the light on!!! I know your 24/7, but help bring in those customer's on those off times. We both wanted blueberry pancakes with no compote, and I ordered some bacon. I noted more Togo orders were going out than people eating in. We soon got our food. HOT. Yes the way you like your pancakes. You know, it melts the butter. Bacon was great. They offered maple and blueberry syrup. Tatiana checked on us and kept me filled on that fresh made coffee. The service was absolutely awful, we were seated and then ignored about. Nobody came to take our order for drinks or food, and we waited a long while. The ambiance was unfriendly and the waitresses completely ignored us despite making eye contact and walking by multiple times. I believe race was a factor, as we were ignored when other customers of the same race as the staff were treated completely differently and served immediately. It is sad to see racism affecting my family's ability to receive a meal. Not sure why this place has such a bad rating. This was probably the best IHOP I've ever been to! It is clean and the food was hot and fast and it was obvious their cook(a) really care(s). The hash browns are perfection!!! I have not seen hash browns that perfect outside of 5-star hotels. Staci was polite and efficient. Manager came through to make sure everyone was happy. I'll start with the positive. The food was good (for IHOP). The waitress did well, having to work by herself. The manager did not help her one bit. Th manager just walked around talking about how short they were, it did nothing to help the staff. Now.... When the check came, I was charged for an item that I never ordered or received. I was also charged for diced ham for a ham and cheese omelette. I asked the waitress about the ham, and she said the manager tells them to ring it up that way. So, I asked what is included with the price of a ham and cheese omelette. She looks at me completely confused at this point. I asked her if there is a up-charge for diced ham, does the meal itself come with a slab of ham? Then I asked why there isn't a up-charge for the shredded cheese, verse having a block of cheese thrown on the eggs. The waitress lets out a huge sigh and walks off. The manager comes over, and I explain the same thing above. He has the nerve to tell me "if I continue to harass the staff, he's calling the police!" At this point, now I'm game...so I tell him to call the police of diced ham and cheese. I'm sure corporate would love to see this video I'm about to take and blast on social media. I guess the staff are use to dealing with drunks on midnight shift, or college kids with daddies credit card and don't care about their bill. So I went to ihop around 11am the restuarant was packed with the weekend and church crowd. Ihop is generally not an auspicious occasion, the food is still the same basic ihop food but I actually left impressed today. I haven't been to this location in a few months but clearly they are trying to step up service and efficiency. I dined with a few friends and we were seated where we could hear the kitchen. First of all, I don't know who the lady is calling out orders but she is hilarious! You can tell she takes her job seriously but also has fun at the same time. I really appreciated seeing all members of the restaurant working and managing the crowd. My server Juan was attentive and friendly. My table ordered a few different combos since they all come with all you can eat pancakes right now. Everyone was satisfied with their food. Honestly, I ate too many pancakes! Side note: I wish Ihop would allow an option for real maple syrup. I'd pay an upharge for it. I'd say you may want to give this location a 2nd chance if you havent been in a while! read more

When we walked in there was no one there to greet us. We waited a few minutes before one of the servers acknowledged us. She asked how many and we said 2. She says about a 10 minute wait please have a seat over there. Over there is in a waiting room off to the side. We sat next to another party of two waiting. A few minutes later a family of four came in and a different server saw them and seated them right away. I was shocked! The next couple that came in were also seated right away. We got up to leave when the first server saw us and said nothing as we walked out. This place was hardly full and while they had not many servers working the one seemed overwhelmed and was just plain grumpy. Additionally there was a guy who appeared to be somewhat in charge however he was wearing lounge clothes and looked a bit disheveled. If he is a manager that is a poor representation. While we were waiting to be seated he came over to the first group and handed them menus and OJs. He never said anything to us. This was the worst experience we've had at an iHop. The service is horrible and the server who greeted us didn't seem to want to be there. read more

Iyana, who seems to be unprofessional at the very least, has either left the phone ringing or simply answered and said hello repeatedly until she felt the need to hang up. It was clear as day that she was being playful on the phone because she'd said hello and waited until we'd made a 4 second statement to then continue saying hello and pretending she wasn't able to hear. Furthermore, upon arrival to the restaurant, we'd been greeted at the door by a homeless individual and also happened to overhear Iyana on the phone with friends, which would explain the lack of motivation to answer the phone. Lastly, she was courteous enough to bring us our food to our car, and also held the door open for me after forgetting the meal's drink inside. Overall, she doesn't seem like a bad person, but the establishment doesn't offer the inviting and family oriented essence that iHops across the country once had. I'd recommend to management to look into possible security or security training for cooks and waiters as well as Iyana to simply put a little more effort into providing basic customer service. read more

Unfortunately I have to give this IHOP location in Tallahassee, FL a 1 star because it was a horrid visit, but the food was edible even though it was not enjoyable. We started our visit with quite a few people waiting to be sat. We were quoted a 25 minute wait time and the wait time was a little longer at 35 minutes. That wasn't a problem as we expected a wait due to the amount of people, but we did see multiple families leave before us because they were tired of waiting and that likely boosted our wait time otherwise it may have been 45 minutes or longer. Once we were sat and ordered, our server was either new or needs to be trained better because quite a few things were not done well at all in our section and we even witnessed the table next to us raise holy hell and the manager came and gave them a significant discount on their check. Their complaints were the food was cold, they had to wait over an hour for their food and this was the worst experience at an IHOP they have ever had. (I agree with that statement by the way.) Also right after that a couple just received their omelets and after tasting them got up and left. (So they were not happy either.) The manager then went to the kitchen where we and others heard her get onto the kitchen. So after witnessing that and after we placed our food order it took over 45 minutes to get our food and both my wife and my omelet was made incorrectly. I don't eat vegetables so they had to go back and make mine again, but my wife isn't as picky so she dealt with the mistake on hers and ate it anyways. The server left to take my plate back to the kitchen and guess what; she never brought our table silverware, salt, pepper, or syrup. So my two kids and wife sat and looked at their food between 5 to 10 minutes until our server decided to show up again to tell her about these missing things. So about 15 minutes later they brought my "fixed" omelet, but it still wasn't very warm. Then it was about 5 minutes after that when they finally brought my wife her side of pancakes. We chose not to make a scene, ate the cold to lukewarm food, paid our bill and left. We will not return and do not recommend this IHOP at this time. I believe most of our issues were with our server as other areas seem to be doing fine and being taken care of better. My son even said, "they should call this place IHOPAWAY", which I found funny. I'll wager that the breakfast would have been just fine, but I'll double down that we would have waited a LONG time, judging by the apparent front-of-the-house confusion. We walked out, the four-person behind us, as well as the two two-people behind them. Before leaving, though, I noticed the wrapped silverware by the hostess stand, and thought it was odd that some of the kids in a party also waiting to be seated were playing with them. If I could give this place negative stars I would to make sure people don't waste their time. I'm not a huge ihop fan but were visiting and it was close so said why not, how bad can you screw up breakfast food? Apparently A LOT! The food, after waiting forever just to get it, was awful! The food is on par with other IHOP locations, and for that, I will not add or deduct stars. You know what you're getting into when you go to IHOP. Get breakfast, avoid non-breakfast foods. You can't go wrong with breakfast. However, what stands out at this location was the service that I received. I was in a group of about 9 people, and our waitress was extremely patient with us. I wish I could remember her name, but she was working late in the evening (around 9pm) when we went in for "breakfast for dinner."
