Ikea is an excellent furniture shop and everyone knows that but this review is about the food aspect more. The salmon was just plain and had no seasoning. The chips were cooked to the perfect degree and the carrots were just carrots. The apple pie is why this review is only 3 stars, it was like a solid block of cold apple with a glue consistency and didn't taste like a fresh apple pie. The food was fairly priced. If you don't like the sound of kids being loud I definitely would not recommend going to the Ikea restaurant around lunch time! This review is only for the food I ate. read more

I know I know, its flat packed, its an almighty chain of superstores and cor blimey its so BLUE, but I have a soft spot for the store because they do get a few things right. Aside from the giant-sized furniture, this store is a great spot for finding unusual fabrics which are on the roll and a reasonable price. I also use this for buying cups and plates for parties that you wouldn't mind breaking. I like to come here late or first thing in the week (wouldn't bother with weekends, far too busy) and go in with the serene attitude of the Little Book of Calm. I have actually seen someone have a panic attack in here so not for those who have a fear of mazes and the feeling of perhaps never seeing daylight again. I sadly have got to the stage where I know all the shortcuts ... You pay extra for using a credit card in here so bring a debit card or cash. There is a cash machine on the car park basement level to the right of the entrance door which is very handy for the whole of the Eastville business park. read more

This Ikea fed me for about two weeks! A strange claim to make about a Swedish furniture shop, but when I was a student they gave out vouchers at my university's Fresher's Fair that offered hot dinners like spaghetti & meatballs every night for something like 99p. Luckily this Ikea was on my way home from University so it seemed rude not to. So have a look out for the coupons as the food here is very edible and great if you're watching the pennies. Apparently they do more than food...no, I think everybody who has been a student (or just needed cheap furniture) owes this Ikea. If you are just moving to the city and doing one of those mum assisted shopping trips, check out the pre-boxed sets of kitchen equipment. Seriously mothers love them, they are hassle free and reasonably priced, and although you'll probably only use about two of the objects inside the box it gives them peace of mind. Priceless. This Ikea gets very busy, your best bet is to go first thing in the morning and avoid rush hour at all costs. read more

It's an IKEA. It works. The restaurant has meatballs (and on that day a pretty nice salmon lasagna), and the shop has the herring and Kalles Kaviar. Some people are almost obsessive about their cut-price furnishings (I have friends from Cardiff who would drive here just to go to Ikea before they got one of their own), though as someone who isn't particularly keen on DIY or shopping, I'm slightly ambivalent about the place. On the negative side, it's busy (busy, busy!), a bit low rent, and built on the spiritual home of Bristol Rovers (sniff), though on the plus side it's convenient, easy and cheap. They've probably got the busiest cafe in Bristol on a Saturday Morning. It feels like everyone with a car boot big enough to fit a flatpack in comes here. Getting a parking space can be a nightmare. Things don't get much better once you're in either. Throngs of people meandering around (although, like other Ikea's you do have to follow the route that takes you past every single thing on sale), getting in your way. It's not that bad actually and only really on the weekend. I'm a bit of a sucker for Ikea really. It's a great place for finding junk you don't really need but might as well get, seeing as it's so cheap. Yes, I know I don't need ice cube moulds shaped like stars, but at £1.50 who can say no? The cafe is my favourite thing about it. Go and get Swedish meat balls and chips. The nice Bristolian lady will dole out your allotted 10, 15 or 20, and you can feeling efficient and Swedish as you clean up after yourself (it's the Ikea way). I have such a huge love, hate relationship with Ikea. I hate the ridiculous layout & the aisle system to collect BUT I love how cheap things can be and how they have pretty much everything you could ever need all under one roof. The store itself it's HUGE and I get lost in their nearly everytime I go. Their different sections with fitted kitchens, bedrooms etc are handy to see items in a particular room & all items are made up for you to see before you buy, which is always good when buying furniture. My favourite section is the children's, they have loads of lovely wooden toys which are all very reasonably priced and actually last. They also have a big selection of mini tables and chairs which are perfect for children. They have a restaurant downstairs and a small food court selling a selection of Swedish foods. I don't really know why I dislike coming here so much, but I really do try to avoid at all cost. It's so handy though and they have everything you could ever need so I will continue to torture myself with the odd visit. read more

Ikea is absolutely brilliant in every way, especially for anyone who loves getting things for a good reasonable price! They offer the most amazing range of home-ware, you could literally kit out your whole house from here for a small price in comparison to many other places. I have run this place dry during my three house moves at university, I went each year to get new stuff to kit out my house and spent next to nothing. The one thing I would say is that all of the units that Ikea sells are flat packed, and you are expected to put things together by yourself when you take it home with you! Their instructions are also not brilliant, and occasionally they are missing things so you might have to pop back - but they are always happy to sort the problem for you. However, this fact is what helps make their products so cheap, so to be honest you can hardly complain - I bought a bedside table here for £8 and a shelving unit for £10 which hardly breaks the bank! Definitely give Ikea a visit if you haven't been before, and what ever you might need for the home you can almost guarantee that they will have this available in the store! read more

I love Ikea, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. One of those stores that never fails to polarise opinion, it is pretty scary how in a matter of - what, a decade? - Ikea has succeeded in all but world domination. Its recipe for success lies in the fact that it is just so damn cheap, and unlike so many other purveyors of cheap goods (Wilkinsons and Argos, I'm looking at you), it's also kind of great. The furniture and various household tat doesn't try to do anything more than cheap furniture and household tat should do - i.e. serve a purpose in a range of exuberant but functional designs. The BUSIEST shop I have EVER seen. I made the mistake of going on a Saturday morning, a mistake I'll never repeat. The access to the store by car is quite complicated and totally unable to cope with the number of people that drive there each weekend- the traffic backs up out of the car park, joins the Tesco traffic, jams up the roundabout and starts to tail back up the motorway! Thinking of going at the weekend? You'd be better off taking a day off work and going during the week. Once you're there it's a big straightforward Ikea store. The canteen sells super-cheap but bland food. In typical Ikea fashion you have to walk around following one prescribed path so if you're hoping to go straight to what you're looking for, or you've forgotten something and want to go back, I hope you have a good sense of direction. If you buy flat pack furniture make sure you spend the time putting it together, if you move it around problems. I know a few people who have had problems with this hahah. Whether you want to like it, or want to hate it, everybody needs Ikea at some point, whether it's to furnish your room like a carbon copy of page 48 of the catalogue or just to pick up a cheap mirror, it's definitely a handy store to have on my doorstep. It takes a little bit of getting used to, walking round the store in one direction like a herd of sheep and writing down a code to collect your items at the end, rather than just grabbing it from the display. However, you get used to itand at these prices, you can't really go wrong. They stock everything from larger items such as beds, wardrobes (all flat packed and self assembly remember) to smaller items such as childrens toys, towels, clocks and candles. If it's for the home, and you need it, it's probably sold hereat a cheap price. Only downside.about three of your friends probably own the same thing too. When you enter Ikea you are forced to do so from underneath, working your way up into the belly of the beast. Once inside you find yourself disorientated and lost, you try and keep your loved ones close as you negotiate your way through the pulsating mass of people wandering endlessly through the complex maze the Swedes have concocted for us. I've been an Ikea convert for over 10 years now, and especially recommend the storage systems like bookcases for good quality and nice looking solutions. This branch of Ikea is easy to get to, but, unless you go in the evenings and not during school holidays, parking can be interesting. Plus, the backup at that exit of the M32 on weekends is mainly due to Ikea, so be prepared. My husband HATES going, so we tend to go at quieter times and with a shopping list in hand. But, even with a list, you can come across interesting items to add to your basket, and can end up spending more than you planned. I rarely have a problem with items purchased and find that flat pack items can be easily assembled, though it can take a bit of patience (and following of directions). Best advice: learn the shortcuts, look online or in a catalog first to note what you want and plot your journey ahead of time. And, check out the food section past the tills for interesting Swedish delacies and if hungry, get a cheap hot dog or ice cream. read more

love this place!!!!!!!!!!!! as everyone will undoubtedly know this is a massive swedish furniture and home goods store bang in the middle of bristol. The restaurant is fab with a good value and varied menu and a little play area for the children. Also there is a creche with a ball pool so if you want to shop in peace you can dump the monkeys and really get on with it in peace. Ikea - I think most of our furniture is from there now. We tend to go in the evening - get our tea and then have a wander. Can't beat feeding the whole family at these prices and we all love meatballs!! Having just done a major refurb of some of our rooms I think I have spent most of the last six months driving back and forth. The biggest issue I have at the moment is stock not being available - it's a long way to go and not find what you want - so really worth checking out the stock on the web first - it's pretty straight forward. Unfortunately for us the item that we really wanted never seems to come back into stock so we had to decide on something else. Don't leave before having an ice cream either - so cheap! read more

What bugged me was the layout of this store, once you get in you have to literally walk what feels like miles, past almost every item they have on sale, before the path eventually leads back to the exit. If you buy something large you have to pick it yourself and delivery is extra. I didn't like the fact I was kept waiting for almost 45 mins in the collection area - normally I'd have walked out but as they were swift to take payment before sending me to the collection area, this wasn't possible. Nor did they allow a refund. I don't like IKEA and only visited this once to see what all the fuss was about. I don't understand why there was a stampede at the opening of a new store, it seems like some kind of cult religion for some! Just got back from shopping at Ikea in Bristol. My what a chore! It takes ages to actually escape the place! Once you are inside you will need to go all around the store to finally reach the carpark! this is mega annoying if you want to pop in as I did to take a look. I used to come all the way up from Bournemouth to this Ikea. It's like a two hour trip but until Ikea opened up in Southampton the other option was the hellish journey up to the Ikea in Croydon, on the outskirts of London. Now I live in Bristol, I go quite regularly but I still never fail to get lost. It is a complete warehouse maze. As much as I love all the cheap modern identikit furniture, my favourite bit of this Ikea is without a doubt the little food hall bit at the end. Not only have they been selling the lush Koppaberg pear cider for years (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) but they have Swedish treats such as chocolate and biscuits. The cafe is pretty good too, serving cheap tasty meals to fuel your shopping spree further. Very occasionally Ikea plays host to flash mob events so keep your eyes peeled. read more

When I bought my own place a few years ago this place was a God send. Half decent looking furniture for half decent looking prices. Exactly what you want when you've virtually got nothing to your name. The only down side to this is the quality of what you're buying. It looks good, but it certainly isn't high end craftsmanship. The blinds I bought from them a few years ago are starting to warp, the chest of drawers regularly falls apart and the light bulbs in the lights don't last longer than a few weeks at time. The other problem is the layout of the store, they've cleverly (or frustratingly depending on how you look at it) configured it so you have to go through virtually every single section before you finally get to the tills somewhere in the basement. read more

I have to warn you I am a bit of an IKEA fan. BUt I think there is reason to be so! This IKEA has recently been refurbsihed so its looking quite good at the moment. The restaurant has also been extended so there's a bit more room there now and its easier to find a table. I try and go here either during the weekday or better still in the evenin(after 7pm) its then really quiet and you can park near to the store. If you actually have something you need to buy (shelves, table, lighting) I'd suggest having a good loook on line or in the brochure before you go otherwise you will just be wandering around aimlessly for ages. I'd also suggest you check online or by phone whether the item you want is in stock. I know from experience that it is very annoying to make the trip there, walk all the way round the huge store just to find what you want is out of stock. Restaurant is great though! Obviously not high class food, but really good value and great if you have lots of little mouths to feed. I suggest you pick up one oftheir free family cards as that intitles you to a free drink everytime you visit monday - friday. read more

I normally know what I am going for, but it still takes me 1/2 day as I get side tracked by all the nice things. Oh, and I always stop for some swedish Meatballs, too! Yammy! A good place for furniture and home decorations on a budget. A big store, but frustratingly slow to get round when busy. Best to go at a quieter time of day like the evening which are usually quiet. Good range of furniture and other home items that are mainly well priced. Some furniture is shoddy quality but most is well made. Car parking can be a problem when busy. Have been there twice now and its top of my list for the worst store in Bristol and surronding area First visit was just after they opened and I was on my own - the whole place was like a giant maze but staff did help me find the way out 2nd visit was today with a wheelchair user - and it was a total nightmare. Trying to find things by asking staff was a dead loss. They just pointed us in any direction and carried on their conversations amongst themselves. One assistant did manage to put some heavy boxes (to fit in a cupboard we were hoping to buy) in a bag and promptly put it on the wheelchair users lap for him to carry!!!! No help offered at all. We were obviously interrupting their conversations amongst themselves. We asked about buying the cupboard and a man wrote down the numbers for us from the computer gave us a paper with it on and pointed us towards another area. Shame he didnt look it up properly as IT WAS OUT OF STOCK! It took us one and a half hours to find the check out and after being pointed in another direction by yet another group of 3 staff who were enjoying a chat I finally told them that they had the most unhelpful and worst staff team I had ever come across and they were lucky that we were not mystery shoppers!! We left after finding our cupboard was out of stock. All I can say is staff are poorly motivated to sell or help customers which is down to total management failiure. HAPPY NOT TO HELP could be written for this store and the management need sacking and replacing FAST Its credit crunch and staff should be doing everything they can to help and assist customers, not making them feel as if they are in the way and an interuption to their day They all stand in groups of 3 and chat - you see it everywhere you look. This shop is for divorced people only as the products look as though they would only last a fortnight This shop is situated in the Bermuda Triangle of Bristol,Its in an area where cars go in and don,t appear for hours due to the traffice chaos present in the area. I love Ikea in Bristol. I like their furniture. I bought some years ago when Ikea first came to the UK and I still have it and it still looks as good as ever. Their stuff is well tested too, to make sure that it stands the test of time. If you have chilren, there is a supervised play area where your children will have the time of their lives whilst you shop. There is a cafe where you can buy cheap food such as hot dogs and drinks and Swedish biscuits to take home. The only negative is that it gets so busy that sometimes it is difficult to find a parking space. read more

Very average place, most people go on about IKEA being cheap, well thats just not true. Why? Because nothing here is build to last. The only thing I have bought in IKEA that has lasted more than a year is a box for drawing pins. My sofa has broke twice, my table has broke once and other odd little bits have been poorly made. However it does still have a few little gems inside. And if your starting up a new place or are a little strapped for cash then I would recommend IKEA. read more

We love Ikea, it's so cheap and cheerful. The furniture they sell is of such good quality unlike the old school MFI stuff that once built it can never be dismantled. Ikea Bristols customer service has to beyond a doubt the worst experience I have ever had. When asking for directions to products, sure enough they tell you where it is but A) The instructions are not that clear B) They don't seem to ever smile. C) They seem to rather chat to their friends than actually help customers! I was prepared to spend 1500 pounds in the store, I spent 1300 but as the sales person was less than helpful with the besta range of storage I decided against purchasing any more. If I were in Waitrose or Tescos their store assistants lead you personally to their products...ikea bristol have no clue! Also their product knowledge is terrible.. I felt I went in knowing more! As for their displays, on a whole they are respectable and nice to look at... but there were a number of items that were either damaged, frayed, off their runners, not clean or dusty. The plus side there was one girl on a ladder that was helpful and showed me the product. But seriously out of 6 people this is less than helpful! Their range is extensive and have good stock. to sum this up. Ikea is great if you know what you want, but don't expect any real service. read more

I totally enjoy getting lost in a dream world of what my house could be as I walk through all the different room styles.
