Well I know for one fact that IKEA do not allow photos to be taken in less you ask the Human Resources department! Typical or what?! That's the first place that I have told not take pictures of within a long time. I know this because I was told off by the till area for not being able to take pictures without permission, but that was after I had been taking pictures already inside and plenty of staff where around who could have also told me off. Mind you the guy at the entrance did look a bit shifty towards me as I had my camera around my neck, but he did not say anything to me still. It is a very useful and massive shop, based around the Cardiff Bay and it is free to enter. They have several sections of products such as; lights, bed duvets, candles, pictures frames, cloth hangers, plenty of storage items, mirrors, a cafe, a car park, a low deals offer, large lifts, escalators, and a Swedish food market area. Entry is free; the staff do seem a little picky about certain things, but it is a very useful shop and our house and Caravan in Pembrokeshire are both full of IKEA items and products. I would still recommend it as a shop for everyone to attend and buy house items from. read more

We all know Ikea is a must for furniture hunters on a budget - not just in Cardiff but world wide - did you know that Ikea is the biggest furniture seller in the world? But this review isn't about the furniture - ohhhhh controversial!!!!! I hear you say. This review is about the food. All I want to say is consider Ikea not just as a furniture store but a quite good cheap restaurant too. Its great value for money. You can get a cooked breakfast for 99p! Where else in the developed world can you get that? Ok the meatballs and the fish and chips are not as cheap but they are as cheap as a chip shop and you have all the sauce you could wish for and a table and chair to sit down and eat it at too! One word of advice I wouldn't take a first date here - I did once and it didn't last long after we left the store - pity really she looked quite nice all dressed up. read more

There's something about Ikea that turns me into a child and makes me want to misbehave. Maybe because all the toys are out to play with or maybe because my mental is age is closer to my foot size. Since I'v moved, I've spent a fair bit of time in here replicating 500 days of summer and trying to make my house look a little nicer. I am a candle fiend and have spent far too much money in here on them. I've also acquired the biggest tea mugs known to man, a small child can bathe in them. Oh I have to give a special mention to the chair I bought and built in a man like fashion. Sorry, back to the review. I don't think I've ever seen a staff member that wasn't a cashier so I would bother asking for help. Prices are great here and is a great way to modernise your room with a budget. Finally, if you want to treat a loved one to dinner, come here. The food here is so cheap, but actually quite nice so is worth a trip if you've spent 7 hours in the shop. read more

Yeah Ikea sells everything you could ever need for you home.... Blah Blah Blah. They offer a delivery service..... Blah Blah Blah.... and now they even offer an assembling service Blah Blah Blah! BUT I am reviewing something that over shadows all of the above......... the MEATBALLS! I love Ikea meatballs! You can get three sizes of meatball portions and I always opt for the large! They are served wth fries and have a side portion of Ligonberrie sauce! Mmm Mmm Mmmmmmm! The other thing worth mentioning on the menu is Ikea's Daim cake!! This is truely scrumptious! If after too many meatballs you cant fit anything else in... Panic not.... Get a Daim cake to take away! The food here, like the furniture is cheap and of a fantastic quality! We hardlu ever go shopping here.... we just take advantage of their great cafe! P.S Get a Ikea family card to enjoy free tea and coffee! read more

Most are familiar with IKEA across Britain, with it's well known low prices on furnishings and practical house hold items. This particular store is of course no exception in terms of the products it sells, but I do however find it quite different to some of the others i've been to across England. A very odd, uniquely constructed building, It looks almost as if a large blue shoe box has landed on top of some stilts. This massive blue construction sits above the large car park, where although places are fairly limited, customers can usually find a space to park. Inside, customers must travel up escalators to reach the second floor, where the cafe and snack bar are situated. The prices of the hot dogs, ice cream cones and chips are staggeringly low, even in comparison to fast food chains, which is a real attraction to some. The cafe also provides cheap prices, notably on its full english breakfasts. Personally I find the food from the cafe to be pretty grim. Aside from the food, the shop is very well staffed and stocked as you'd expect. read more

As a student this Ikea was an absolute lifesaver! Some of the furniture in my student digs was beyond unsuitable, I could literally only fit around five pairs of jeans and five jackets in the wardrobe that was provided. Luckily I had some space left, so I ended up buying this clothes and shoe rack thingy, which nearly all of my clothes fitted in (I won't mention the piles I left at home) for only £20. And this is what's great about Ikea, the good value! No matter how full my trolley gets I never get that sick feeling when the cashier tells me how much I have to pay. Low value often means ugly products, not so with Ikea, their products are bright, colourful, and rather trendy, I managed to transform my room on quite a small budget. The only bad thing about Ikea for me was that all of my housemates had bought their stuff for Uni from here too, so it was an absolute nightmare working out what belonged to who. read more

Unlike some other IKEA stores, Cardiff IKEA is very easy to find. It's close to other retail parks meaning you don't have to make a special trip just to get there. There's plenty of covered parking below the store and lots more room in the outside car parks. Inside there's everything you'd expect from IKEA and more. There is a crèche, a café and a separate takeaway section. There's a separate entrance specifically for returns to you can access what you need very easily. There's also a small food market there as well as vending machines to grab a quick drink. Overall you get the excellent IKEA value with the added bonus of it being in a very easily accessible location. read more

I absolutely love IKEA! The ranges are so affordable, and so different to your usual homeware shop. The childrens creche is a godsend, they can play for up to 40 minutes in a childs paradise, and you have a beeper that goes off when you need to collect them. The food in the restaurant is tasty and well priced, and if you sign up for a family card you can get free cups of tea! This is probably the only shop that I actually look forward to taking the kids! read more

One of those stores that you mean to go in for one thing and hours later you emerge from the dark depths of the store loaded with items! While the quality is generic and simple, their items are functional and excellent for those on a tight budget. Located in the Channel view area, if you don't drive, you can get the Number 9 bus (Sports village). Everything you need for the home and then some! read more

If you've ever been to any Ikea, then you'll know what this one's going to be like. As Ikeas go, this one is a little bit more spacious than some (for example the Bristol one). The paths for the big trolleys are a bit easier to follow, and the car park is pretty manageable. However this extra spaciousness doesn't stop it filling up with people every weekend. If you need something from Ikea, go during the week if you possibly can, it's a much more pleasant buying experience. When I've been there, the staff have been friendly enough, to the small extent that I've had to have any help from them. They were particularly helpful in the 'seconds' section, where there were staff happy to talk about what damage there was to any particular item, how it could be dismantled, that kind of thing. The food in Ikea used to be a little bit of a draw- I know people who really do enjoy the bargain meatballs. However as the 'restaurant' gets a bit bigger and busier, the Subway-style approach to catering gets exposed a little bit, and some of the ingredients are poor. However, the one exception is the Daim bar cake. It's out of a packet and you can buy it in supermarkets but it still makes a trip to Ikea feel a lot happier. read more

Ikea Cardiff has been a fantastic place to furnish and make a house a home. Great kitchen accessories which make cooking a far more fun experience and ideal storage containers which are both attractive and practical. Bathroom accessories are also bright and useful as well as good value. The ranges of furniture are ideal as they start at very reasonable costs and work their way up to solid wood of good quality as well as being easily assembled. Anyone who loved lego or meccano sets will be in their element making ikea furniture. I've been nicely surprised by the service in Ikea Cardiff as well with helpful and friendly staff. read more

OK - I need to preface - I have nothing against IKEA. I'm a MASSIVE Ikea fan. However, this IKEA in particular? The 1 star is for the HORRID customer service. --- IKEA in general is amazing. For young adults like me who just got started in saving but still need decent furniture, IKEA is a godsend. I'm not sure how I would be able to afford a sofa or a wardrobe otherwise! However, the customer service here is seriously god awful. Story time... I wanted to get a couch for home delivery but I hadn't made the order online. I was hoping to do it in-store so I was wondering if someone would be able to help me make the order as it was my first time getting home delivery. I went to the home delivery section and there wasn't a single soul there. I found another employee and asked if there was anyone available to help me at home delivery and they said the girl on that shift was on her break and would be another 15 minutes. I asked if there was anyone else available and they said no, only she was able to do that job. UM.. OKAY??? When she finally showed up, she told me that I should go to customer service instead and pointed me all the way to...... the OPPOSITE end of the store (and IKEA is huge). After a long trek over there to the customer service desk with just one guy working, he said he doesn't handle the orders. I said that I was pointed here and he seemed really confused and unsure why I would be told to go there. So, he directed me another while away to another desk. When I arrived to that desk to ask for help, guess where that guy tried to send me? BACK TO HOME DELIVERY!!!! I was about to lose it but kept cool and calmly stated, "Sorry, but this is the third place I've been sent to now. I started off asking for help in home delivery." So he literally huffed and turned on his computer to log in and help me make the order. ARE YOU SERIOUS?! HE WAS COMPLETE ABLE TO DO IT BUT JUST COULDN'T BE BOTHERED SO TRIED TO SEND ME ELSEWHERE! I told him the model I wanted and he did a search and said he couldn't find it so told me to get its exact item code. He wouldn't let me see the computer so I walked over to use one of the customer-ones, batting away little kids who were just on there playing and parents not caring. Searched for my model and it was literally the FIRST one that came up in my search. Lol.... okay??? I waved the guy over and guess what he said? "Oh, there it is!" Order finally done, I went back to home delivery. A wait later, and it was all done. I'm betting at every one of those stations, they could've probably helped me make the order but unfortunately I interrupted their lovely time of not-doing-anything-at-work. Hard lesson learned: Do all research on EVERYTHING yourself beforehand. Do not expect any help whatsoever from customer service. read more

Right i'm going against the grain a bit here, as unless you've been living underground for the past few years you'll know exactly what Ikea is and what it does. If you don't its the place that puts the weird adverts on around about tea time. Anyhow, i don't want to talk about the furniture, i want to talk about the nick knacks you can get here for mere pennies. plants, cushions, kitchen utensils all for stupid prices, last time i was there i bought a baby fern for 69p!A living thing for under a pound! eewwfff bloody marvellous. Now if the basement of this place doesn't keep you happy, head up to the restaurant where food is also stupidly cheap but not stupidly disgusting. The food here is actually great and i think nowadays Ikea is more famous for it's meat balls as it is its wardrobes! Prior to my visit checked stock levels of items all in stock (green). When got to store two items on list unavailable and one only had 1. Not quite what internet said so checked stock levels when got home all in the green!!! Decided I would have something to eat so visited restaurant tried to use my Ikea family card told it was faulty/ not latest edition was told to go to a machine when would be issued a temporary card I could then use. Funny my family card worked when I'd finished shopping and in food hall. !!!! What's happening? read more

They provide extensive parking facilities and theres always plenty of room. There is a cheap and cheerful resteraunt should you get hungry after all of the shopping. ikea is ikea, and is great for cheap yet stylish furniture. I love bargain corner, where items that are slightly damaged, or marked get put. at sometimes mega low prices. Ive save quite a few pennies there! i like the faily card idea, which isnt about how much you spend, just how many times you use it, if it be for a £1 or £1000 you get the same benifits. and it saves you money on items, and on some food in the restaurant. The retaurant is brilliant! and brakfast before a certain time is only like 99p or something silly, and you do get a fari amount. For a cheap meal this place can not be beaten. And still has good qaulity. The only thing about it is that is gets sooooooo busy on the weekend and really spins me out! read more

I love Ikea. Even if you're not looking for furnature, for some reason it is still such a great place to go. I love the way they lay out the display rooms, it doesn't seem at all boring walking around thinking about how you would love it if your kitchen looked like that, even if you don't even own a kitchen! After walking around the displays you have the treat of visiting the basement where it is impossible to leave without buying something. I usually bring home a stray cushion, a photoframe, even a pot plant! Always candles too. There are so many candles! The layout makes it easy for you to grab what you want as there are always lots of everything. For some reson, it always seems like a great idea to visit the hot dog counter in Ikea. Nowhere else would I be drawn to this. There is just something about Ikea, I can't really explain it, you'll just have to go and see what I mean. read more

They double charged our card and were very rude when rectifying their mistake. We waited hours the next day for our order and then the lorry wouldn't stop as it said there wasn't room outside out flat. Ikea should have warned us of this in the store. A manager called me later and was unbelievably unhelpful and did not apologise for the error and charged us again to redeliver the goods the next day. Customer service is non existent, they have no head office and this affects their customer service. I have never been dealt with in such a manner by a retail company and would not go near them again with a ten metre pole. The furniture is above average for the price but if there is the slightest thing wrong with it or the process of getting it then God help you because Ikea will not. read more

THE LACK OF ASSISTANCE FRO DISABLED IS GASTLY TO SAY THE LEAST.....my dad was left at 76 yrs old to dissasemble a wardrobe where the people in ikea put the back board on so tight that you would need a van to take the wardrobe away not a picasso like we had we had to dissasemble the wardrobe down but took an hour as noone in ikea would help "as if they broke it they would have to be responsible" well if thats the case then why work in a shop that involves assembling and checking items and leave an elderly man do it all alone not even help loosen the screws the backboard had to be physiclly punched off as nails in so tight that the claw of the hammer even a flat head screw driver couldnt prize the nails out so the backboard is nackered and will cost £11 for a new piece some bargain !!! read more

Ikeas styles range fom bright and funky to classic and wooden, everyhting you could ever want for your house all under one roof(and at a cheap price too!). Staff can be a bit mardy at times and seemingly unaware of their duties but otherwise Ikea is a really good quality place to shop. read more

I dont no about you but i love ikea, in cardiff its buy the big asda down the bay with boots & the sports shop etc. Ikea has so many wonderful things for the home & a grea range of furniture from funky & bright chairs that you can hang from your ceilling (kinda like a swinging chair-i wonder if thats what its called?!!!) to rugs & photos for your wall. I bought some wavy long lenght mirrors for my wardrobe door which were very good value for 4. Ikea also sells hotdogs (bit off subject but they are lovely hotdogs & very low prices!!!) read more

Ikea Cardiff is located near the bay area on a large retail park that has everything for Argos to McDonalds! A great place of a day shopping. As always ikea offers great 'student furniture' and nick-nacks, but my anobeda wardrobes lasted just 6 months of daily use! That said if you're renting a flat and don't want to furnish it at any great cost then look no further. One more thing to say is that the food in the restaurant at Cardiff Ike is pretty good; don't get me wrong I'd be miffed it my husband took me for a romantic meal there!, but the meatballs and the fish are a welcome treat after a tough few hours of shopping. read more

IKEA is one of those places you either love or hate, and I'm one of the latter. The range of furniture looks great and there are lots of room displays in this store so that you can see how your flat pack will look when assembled. And there's the rub; self assembly. Twice when I have bought items and tried to assemble them, I have had to go back to the store to get missing parts. By the time you add on the extra petrol and wasted time, their furniture is not so cheap after all. The staff are helpful. ..... but that is only if you can find one to assist you. There just aren't enough of them in this store. Everything is self-serve as well as self-assembly. This may be ok if you're 6'2 with strong muscles, but if you are 5' nothing, this is no joke. Even if you opt to pay to have the furniture delivered you still have to get the items from the storage racks to the till and this can be very difficult (see above re my lack of muscles!) read more

Really cheap as everybody knows- you can shop online as well- though delivery is really expensive. I find it best to find all the things you want online and then visit the store and ge the items and leave. Can get very very busy at the weekends/evenings. Food is rather strange sometimes, but also quite good. read more

A nice store where things can be found easily, food is cheap. I would avoid weekends as it's very busy. Weekdays are great plenty of room to look about. They also have big tv's scattered around so you can watch those big sporting events. By the checkouts there is also a great bargain corner, always worth a look read more

There wer some very nice items at good prices as I remember, I only went there twice because the experience was not a good one. I wandered around for ages trying to find my way out. Eventually I found a member of staff, apparently there are a few even though they seem to all be in the stock room or somewhere other than the shop floor. By the time I found someone I was very irritated and knew I wouldn't shop there again. I asked for the way out and as I did I could hear other people behind me discussing how annoying the layout was, one man suggested we had been locked in deliberately and seemed to share my annoyance. I did go back months later to see if I felt any different and I'm afraid my second visit was no better than my first. Anything good about Ikea was negated by the overall experience. read more

I have shopped at various branches of Ikea for years, but yesterday was the first time in my life where had been asked by the cashier to show a receipt for a large Ikea bag- full of items bought earlier. After our first buy we went to the restaurant and as it wasn't busy and pouring with rain and we had time to spare we returned to the Marketplace and paid for a for a couple more items. It would have been a very clumsy effort at shoplifting if I had tried to sneak all those bar-coded items out of the store!(or tried to remove all those sticky labels, not really worth the effort) and paid for just a mug and umbrella. Plus, to make matters worse, she didn't give us a receipt for the mug and umbrella, so we could have been accused of stealing those as well! What would happen in those circumstances if you couldn't find your receipt and paid cash? I am normally pretty careful about keeping receipts but I was panicking as my daughter paid for the items on this occasion. Would we have proof on CCTV or the Ikea loyalty card? I am going to think several times before shopping at Cardiff Ikea again, as they treat their customers with such contempt. If you bought something in other company stores and then returned for a forgotten item, I don't think they would have the audacity to stop you without adequate reason. It's a shame because I used to be a loyal customer. I know it's sadly a sign of the times, but don't demean your customers. read more

IKEA are a shocking company and their customer services are rude and inept. i placed those words in parentheses because, it seems to me, they don't really know what customer services means. I ordered a fridge freezer from them only to find out that they would only deliver on days when I was not available. I was quite shocked by their my way or the highway attitude and their unprofessional attitude when I phoned them initially. To their small credit, they did phone me back when i emailed them (having refused to spend twenty minutes waiting for a customer services rep on a mobile phone to the 0845 number they provided me with) but this experience was no better. Their customer services rep was completely closed-minded to any compromise suggestion I came up with and I came to the conclusion that the call was nothing more than a determined effort to get me to toe the IKEA line an put up or shut up. I'll never use this appalling outfit again. read more
