I grabbed one of their catalogs and browsed as I walked around the mall and by the time I arrived back at my car I had decided that I had to go back and buy some items. I bought a cute Nordic skater doll for my mother and a typical Christmas elf for myself. The store was packed with interesting items, and many people were browsing the Christmas display so I was glad to grab my stuff and go. I thought the prices were somewhat high but you never see items like this for sale in the US so I didn't mind paying a little extra. The store reminded me of a Pottery Barn and had many items that I would have love to decorate my home with if not for the perils of airplane travel.

In other words, they carry just about everything you need for your house. About the only things they do not sell are clothing and groceries. Unless, I've missed seeing them which is possible. The store is huge, and it is divided into separate sections. Pretty well organized and stocked. The young lady who assisted us was terrific. This Clas Ohlson store in Stavanger, Norway was wonderful. Got what we needed at a fair price.

Most, if…read morenot, all stores are well known in the Scandinavian/European communities.There is, however, a huge discrepancy as far as selection of apparel for guys. Now, I didn't visit every store so take this with a grain of salt. The stores I did go into though, I witnessed a big disparity between the amount of clothing offered for women and men. The men's section of goodies is like a 1/10 of the selection compared to the womens' side. I understand that there are "more" choices as far as variety of clothing for the girls but still... Having a little corner for men's clothing is ridiculous. Had a nice lunch here at one of the main restaurants. The chicken club sandwich was filling. The fries were plopped into this little deep fryer basket which was a nice touch. Loved the execution. The sandwich also came with a side of mango apple bbq sauce in a mini jar.

kvadrat is one of the largest shopping malls in norway and the largest one in the area. it doesn't…read moresay too much if you're used to the supermalls of the united states, but it's a useful one-stop-shopping area. and being indoors, it's good when the weather isn't very good for walking in downtown stavanger n such. kvadrat has most of the franchise clothing stores available in norway as well as home goods stores, electronics, music/movie shops and obs, helgø, asian foodstore, middle eastern shop, and the wine monopoly. as far as restaurants and eateries, there's not much to recommend personally. there's a few bakeries, cafes, hot dog/ice cream stands, dolly dimples crap pizza, a chinese restaurant (seems to be consistently busy for lunch, but i don't know why because the food isn't good at all), mexicana tex-mex'ish style food which is probably the most edible warm-food-joint in the mall unless you just want to grab a sandwich or pastry from the bakeries.. an italian restaurant is in the works so we'll just have to wait and see how that place stands up to the rest. for people with kids, there's a place you can either leave your kids at for them to play or you can play with them. they can also host kid's parties as well.
