        For 70 years, people have welcomed IKEA into their homes. Now it's our turn to welcome you to ours, in Älmhult, Sweden. The IKEA Museum is the story of IKEA. Here, we share everything that makes IKEA what it is today, and what it may be tomorrow: the ideas and the driving forces, the people and the furniture, the mistakes and the lessons learned.

        History

        Established in 2016.

        The IKEA Museum addresses everyone curious about IKEA. Visitors can follow our development decade for decade - by means of interior designs, furnitures, products and events. Here we explain our work with design and product development, suppliers, and logistics, sustainability and the environment as well as communication and marketing. We also highlight our origins in the province of Småland in Sweden, our values and our company culture. Of course, we tell the story of Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, and how he and all his co-workers set up his business. The IKEA Museum features a main exhibition and a temporary exhibition, as well as restaurant and a shop. The museum's archives and collections are parts of the operation, as is our school programme.

This "new" IKEA location has been around for a while. Good parking, lots of the regular IKEA stuff, and the standard restaurant. We had their Julbord buffet (Christmas buffet). It is SEK 199 but you get a coupon for SEK 50 off in the store. Decent food selection although they were missing staples such as lutfisk and ribs. Lots of new dishes catering to vegans and vegetarians. Worth it if you are going to IKEA anyway.

      Looking for awesome antiques? You're not the only one, so be here on time! They used to be opened…read morethe last Sunday every month but during spring, summer and autumn they're open every Sunday, 10-18. To be sure to see if they're open, check their homepage www.ostregard.se People from all over come here, north of Sweden, Denmark, Germany, you name it! They do have a few corners for those who like.....junk, but mostly there are very nice things that can be purchased here for those who like the rustique/antique style. The lady who runs the entire business doesn't let anything in her antique shop which you will notice when you come here. They also have a hot dog trolly there where you can by hot dog of if you just want to soak in the atmosphere, try the garden café. Be very sure of WHAT you are looking for before you come here as there are so many things there and you can easily get lost and end up with too many things or just nothing because there are a lot of people there and everybody are after the same thing-get THE special thing for their home. Go get it you too!!
