As is the case in the United States, this IKEA store in Bergen, Norway is Gigantic!! It is like walking through a little city. So much merchandise to choose from. The way they set up their displays and rooms makes you want to copy what they are doing for your own home. Without a doubt, we would be regulars if we lived in Bergen. It is hard for the competition to compete with IKEA's low prices. We were even tempted to buy stuff for our home in the U.S. We ended up eating lunch at their wonderful restaurant where the food is better than the States. Afterwards, we purchased some candies for home. Yup, I'm a fan. read more

IKEA. You either love it or hate it. This one is absolutely gigantic (biggest one in Norway), and has every single item IKEA has to offer. It's great, but also a nightmare. It's big, clean and pretty much like most other IKEAs. What else is there to say? It's IKEA, pretty good quality at a price that can't be beat. The restaurant is pretty huge as well. I somehow always find a table, even on the busiest days. There's even a little play area for children, and a nursing nook with sofas. There is even a little area where you can prepare babyfood (you get a jar of babyfood for free) with bibs, bowls, cutlery and a microwave. The only downside of the restaurant is that it's almost always out of ketchup and it's impossible to find someone that can get more without waiting in a line. I love IKEA, but the store is almost a little bit too big. This one doesn't have as many shortcuts as the older one, and it's a bit of a nightmare on those occassions where you just need one thing. I never come on Saturdays because it's so crowded it takes an eternity to just walk through, and it's almost impossible to get help from the people that work there. I would also stay clear on other days Norwegian have off work, because the store tends to be understaffed and unprepared on those days. The store also has the regular playland for children, a little store that sells Swedish food and vast amounts of parking. There's a free bus that runs directly from the city center that runs every day it's open. read more
