The restaurant is open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM; it has a separate Yelp page. For safety reasons, Smaland play area for children is currently closed until further notice. I swore I would NEVER step foot inside this megastore, but I broke that promise today. A bit of a furniture snob (mostly 1920's thu 1940's grace my home), I never expected to find anything redeeming here, but I definitely did after a friend said everyone should view Ikea in action at least once in his/her lifetime. After finding a parking spot (one of 1,700 spots) in the ginormous parking lot, I walked inside & almost immediately experienced SENSORY OVERLOAD. I am not joking; it felt as though my jaw dragged behind me w/ every step along the carefully laid out path to a unique shopping experience. Upon entering, I was first greeted by a large sign advertising the second floor restaurant-- there's an escalator (as well as an elevator) to reach it. I stopped in later to take pics. (I would have eaten here had the cafeteria-style line not been so long.) Large, yellow plastic bags are available for shopping use, but also available are standard grocery carts. Then there's the series of floor arrows & overhead signs to follow-- kinda like the Yellow Brick Road, which may be why yellow shopping bags are offered-- my English teacher brain would like to believe so:) I walked through each of the 49 "rooms" (aka sections). All the basics were covered: kitchen; dining room; living room; game room; home office; bedroom; baby room; bathroom; along w/ rugs, mattresses, home textiles, storage, candles, artificial flowers/greenery, holiday home decor; & so much more! Then I reached the entry way to the mesmerizing furniture section (L00K up!) followed by Checkout-- 18 registers; & finally a To Go Cafe that offered pizza, hotdogs, a salad, one vegan offering, & limited beverages. Through my shock & awe over the enormity of Ikea, I did enjoy what appeared to be GOOD TO LOW PRICING. I filled my cart w/ scented candles that were 5x less costly than what I would be expected to pay elsewhere; colorful 50-count paper dinner napkins (dirt cheap @ $1.99); & excellent quality 20 x 20 accent pillow coverings @ $11, which is a phenomenal price. Should I ever need additional STORAGE CONTAINERS, this will be where I come-- very good pricing! My masked checkout cashier (hidden by lots of plexiglass & caution), was extremely friendly. She welcomed me & expressed similar feelings about the vast quantity of items sold under such a huge roof. Before I reached her, I gathered that I would need to buy a handheld plastic bag for my stash; thankfully, there's a shelf of bags for purchase in front of every register, including the self checkout section that was tended to by a lone staffer. WHAT ELSE IS OFFERED HERE? Interested patrons can book a Kitchen Planning appointment. Assembly through TaskRabbit is offered. DoorDash will bring groceries to your home. Virtual organizational workshops are offered, as well as other monthly events, such as free crafts kits for kids (already closed for December)-- check the ONLINE SCHEDULE FOR ALL CURRENT IKEA EVENTS. After walking my items to my vehicle, I returned to check out the second floor restaurant that seats 350 diners & offers Swedish & American food. Seeing dozens of people corralled in a cattle-like line awaiting to order lunch was unappetizing, so I took pics & headed to Whole Foods to grab a hot lunch:) I did hear from friends that the Ikea food is good (especially the Swedish Meatball entree) & offered @ reasonable prices. Ikea at Tampa is a big disappointment. I have visited Ikea store in several states and cities. The Ikea store at Tampa is run down,their display is a disgrace-broken,not well assembled,faded,damaged. I used to love going to Ikea stores to look for inspiration,ideas and just to admire the clever solution. On top of that about a lot of items are unavailable. When you check out, you can find to the right of the cashier area some items for sale. There is massive parking area so no worries finding parking. This is the first two-story IKEA I've ever visited. It is really neat. It's located not too far off of I-4, soon after you enter Tampa and it's not too difficult to find if you use your GPS. Huge parking lot. The first time we arrived, we immediately went upstairs to get lunch. Then back downstairs to get a cart, then back upstairs via the elevator to walk around. (There are no carts on the second floor. You have to pick one up on the first floor. A bit odd, but understandable.) The bathrooms are located right when you walk in behind the escalators downstairs and behind the cafe upstairs and are very large and clean. We have a great time here. Thanks to the IKEA app on my phone and very knowledgeable employees, we are able to locate everything we were shopping for. WiFi is easily available throughout the entire building. read more

Lots of people showed & the lines were long. This review is for their free child care. Having two toddlers makes doing anything without my husband difficult. Being able to stick at least my older child in free child care while I navigate the Ikea maze made it possible for me to visit Ikea during the weekend. Check in takes about a minute. My son happily ran inside to play in the pit of balls. After an hour, I picked him up. He happily ran to me, and the staff gave me his shoes and a picture he "drew" (read: scribbled). The whole time I was shopping, I felt like he was in a safe location (only children and the Ikea child care workers are allowed in the area), and I didn't have to worry about him knocking over a display of glass jars. And after I picked him up, we were able to go shopping for some yummy organic boxed juices that he miraculously agreed to share with his little sister. Score! read more

We've been here multiple times before, just never reviewed it I guess. In the days following our wedding, we stopped in for a few items to tackle some home projects on my new honey-do list. As an aspiring DIY couple, we enjoy the challenge of updating and decorating our house together. My wife has a keen eye for home decorating and our marital home is picture worthy. There are many aspects to an IKEA trip. As you enter, you head upstairs to the model rooms. Here, we checked out different styles and themes. It's nice to see them use the furniture pieces in a practical setting, that way it's easier to envision for your own project. We checked out all the different models and worked our way around, stopping to check out items that we were wanting. As we came to the end of the model portion, we were getting hungry. Luckily, IKEA has a cafeteria and we've never been to it before. We walked in and were shown to a table. We then walked over to a serving station with trays and metal poles to place the tray on as you slide it down the line. We ordered the chicken tender meal and then a side of Swedish meatballs, a food they are known for. Quick, easy and inexpensive, we sat down with our $10 lunch and dug in. I loved the meatballs. They were tiny, in a rich dark brown gravy with a side of cranberry relish. The sweet to savory ratio was excellent and almost reminded me of Thanksgiving. The chicken tenders were pretty good too. Nothing too Swedish about these but it came with two sides, we did fries and mac and cheese. The chicken tenders were moist on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. The fries were actually really good, better than fast food fries. They had a starchy, potato flavor inside and a crunch on the outside. Not greasy. The mac and cheese had good flavor but we both decided that the somewhat powdery texture made this either an instant or frozen recipe. After we satisfied the hunger, we continued downstairs to the shopping area. We snaked through the many aisles, leisurely pursing, picking up items that we needed and walking off our lunch. IKEA has good deals and items, while notoriously difficult to assemble with limited instruction, that make any house feel more like a home. We love our trips to IKEA and this won't be our last time visiting. As for the $1 hotdogs, we will have one on our next visit. read more

The man with gray hair was VERY rude he assumed things about me and forced a quality check because he wasn't happy that I called him a smart as* for assuming. Prices were good. This is only my 2nd time to an IKEA. If you are going I suggest comfortable shoes and clothes! Upon entering you will see maps and if you've never been I suggest you take a map. The place is set up on 2 floors. I found walking thru to be like a maze. The second floor has all the furniture and it's all set up like rooms. The furniture here is more reasonably priced because you purchase it, take it home yourself and assemble it yourself. I'm not sure how good the quality is but if you're on a budget I'm sure you could find something here. The first floor is all household goods. The amount of things available was mind blowing. The prices are all very reasonable. I'm pretty sure if you need it they have it and then some. They offer a childcare center where you can drop off your children while you shop. It's conveniently located right when you walk into the store. Next to the childcare center is a wall of free lockers for your convenience. You can also eat here. I didn't but I saw that they have a food court with lots of options. IKEA really makes it very convenient for you to shop in their store! This store is conveniently located near downtown Tampa. The parking lot is huge so make sure you park near the doors or you may have a long walk to get into the store. I went during the week and it was very quiet with no lines to wait on. I highly recommend going during the week if at all possible. Everything in this store is labeled. If you decide to purchase anything large you will need to write down or take a picture of the aisle number and bin number. On the first floor you will see signs directing you to an area where you will pick up your boxed items you wish to purchase. You will look for the Aisle and then the bin. I know a lot of businesses are hurting because of the current situation, but this place is empty compared to times past. Many of the items are marked 'temporarily unavailable. You can tell the spread the remaining items out to make the location look better but if you've visited them in the past you know it's empty. We got some snacks from the food bar by the registers and yuck! The pretzel was hard as a rock, pineapple and mango smoothie was watery and had a super out taste. I do not like the whole process of writing down codes, going to search for the items and then finding a way to get them. Then, after all that, I have to take it home and spend hours putting the furniture together. if they offered more assistance in the whole Process I would buy something. If you're looking to improve your life and your environment, there aren't many places better than IKEA that allow you to do this at a reasonable price. In case you've never been, they carry everything from full on complete kitchens to a simple fork and knife and their prices are unbelievably inexpensive. I'll say this...some of the quality in some of their products are really cheap in terms of material make up, but they also have other options that are on the other side of the spectrum. Many of their furniture is modular so you can get different looks and it all just works together effortlessly. If you don't have a large vehicle to take the things with you, they also offer a delivery service, but the fun part isn't taking the things home with you...it's assembling them all together which I highly suggest reading the directions and getting it done the right way the first time! There's a reason for the way they tell you how to use specific pieces at certain steps, but me with my ADD always makes me jump ahead only to disassemble and fall back several steps, sometimes all the way to the beginning. Pro Tip...if you're stuck and can't take apart some of their furniture, youtube it and you'll find how to proceed; true story...some of their furniture looks simple to figure out but you could get stumped just trying to figure things out and in my case, youtube came to the rescue once again. read more

Masks are a must. If you don't have one, they will give you one. There was a line to get in and it was raining, they had pop up covering for the part of the line that wasn't under the overhang of the building. It was still a little nerve wracking since it was thundering and lightning. Several hand sanitizer stations. And Ikea naturally has one way paths throughout the store. The cafeteria was closed and blocked off with curtains. Server items in the snack area of the exit were not available... gummy candies, ice cream and drinks. I first bought their furniture at Houston IKEA when we have vacation there. Soon they open the market in Florida then Tampa. IKEA provide nanny care while you are shopping. There also have their restaurant inside the store make shopping or lunch there easy. It is very convenient to many customers for easy strolling and look for the furniture. The furniture is great for small apartment. There are many space saving ideal. I would said their furniture required a person can follow the instructions of assembling and time to put it together. Their furniture is good price. Since it requires assembly, some people just don't have the time. But I like it to make it my weekend project. I would said their furniture are not great for house moving. Once it assembled, they just need to left it in place. Because once you move it too much, you will damage the furniture assembly Joint or connection. Their furniture do look great. And they are very contemporary and modern look. read more

I love this IKEA. It's even better than the one I went to in Sweden (my Swedish fiancé agrees, and yes, I make him read me all the name tags on the furniture and tell me what they mean). It's always clean and well-organized, and the staff are super friendly. In the cafeteria, there are at least three staff cleaning and bussing tables during peak lunch hours. No table is dirty for long. The cashiers in the cafe are also really nice. They remind you to grab water glasses, instruct you where to find utensils and salad dressing, and even reminded us to grab an extra knackebröd from the buffet, because they were 2-for-$.34. The checkout lines get really long, unfortunately, but you'll find yourself waiting for less time than at Walmart. And you get to smell the amazing aroma of the cinnamon buns while you wait. Ahhhhhh... (they smell better than they taste though.) I've had to visit customer service twice, but the wait is never that long. The staff there are helpful and try to keep the line moving along. Make sure you stop by the clearance section before the registers! I've found some great deals there. Also, make sure you get the IKEA Family card! It's free and gets you amazing deals! I just recently got a $20 coupon, and it was much appreciated, since I had a big purchase to make anyway! They also have days when you can get your entire family's meals for absolutely free in the cafe if you make a $100 home furnishing purchase. My fiancé and I had to get a new dresser and happened to visit the weekend of this amazing deal. We had a huuuuuge lunch for $21 ($23 before the normal IKEA family discount) and then were reimbursed at customer service. ($23 is a LOT of food at the IKEA cafe, where everything is silly cheap.) We did this process backwards. You're supposed to eat, then shop and get reimbursed at checkout. Whoops. If you mess up like us, just head to customer service! Overall, I love this IKEA, and although it's about 45 minutes from where I live, I don't mind, since it's a well-maintained store that provides an excellent experience every time. read more

We ordered several pieces to make a wall sized entertainment center. After a long walk we finally found the department that could help us. The gentleman who helped us had absolutely no personality. We don't get a warm vibe. He lightened up later. Then we were told we had to go collect our picked part of the order after an even longer walk and to go to another area to actually hand pick the other pieces. The whole process was extremely daunting. Three weeks later, we had a few pieces that we found we didn't need to came back to return. There was one person working returns and there was a problem with the customer's return. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait until it was our turn. Absolutely unacceptable!!!!! So my husband went to find someone to come and manage the situation. Another person came, she wrapped up the customer with the problem and left. Now the second person left and there is still only one person. She proceeds to enter some paperwork into the computer while a roomful of customers are sitting and waiting to be taken care of. Very poor management. Someone needs to look into this atrocity. read more

I love the concept of IKEA being a one-stop shop where I can buy a bed frame to buying a pair of personal scissors - and of course, I always have to eat the Swedish Meatballs in their restaurant area. This location is huge with it being two-stories. The employees here are super nice, and always willing to answer any questions you may have which in my case, I always have a lot. When I bought more than 20 furniture items during my last visit here, the employee who helped me was very knowledgeable about the whole delivery process and basically, knew everything about IKEA. I then asked if she could help with the length of the desk tops because I was confused. She huffed and puffed and was extremely rude. After a couple minutes I said "Nevermind and there's no need to be rude." I decided to figure it out myself. But isn't this her job? To assist customers in the self service area with any questions? I miss the Tampa Ikea so much!!! The one where I live is single story and the cafe is in the center of the store. Tampa is 2 stories and you go up the escalator and BAM! you're next to the cafe. I took my mom and grandmother here for lunch after being at the aquarium around the corner and I was so happy I did! Love the Swedish meatballs and everything that comes with it and you know I had to snag a slice of that decadent chocolate cake! To be clear customer service was fantastic is helping with our online order HOWEVER their delivery service is awful. The first order that IKEA/delivery company screwed up was when "AI" had a distribution center, that was out of our selected items, allocated to deliver the items. The delivery was broken up into 3 separate trucks who arrived over an 8 hour period of time. They delivered damaged goods and then failed to deliver the replacements. The deliver company called me today to reschedule pick up of the damaged items and drop off of the items but even then the man that I spoke with said "my bad" when I confirmed that they did fail to deliver the replacements. No apology, nothing. I do not recommend ordering anything that needs to be delivered. Buyer beware. The store has a good selection of kitchen cabinets that are a good value but the stress and loss of time dealing with the constant screw ups on the part of their delivery service is not worth the savings. read more

IKEA is a great place to get some steps in if you're into that kind of thing. I love IKEA, I just recommend that you try to go during the week instead of the weekend when it can get pretty crowded. Inevitably you will end up behind someone slow and you'll be trapped in the maze of IKEA forever or for what seems like forever. I actually enjoy the maze of IKEA and if you visit here often enough you'll get to know the layout of the store so you can buzz through the shortcuts if you feel like it. If you just feel like browsing you can walk through all the decorated rooms. I like to look at all the bedrooms and kitchens - it's very inspiring and I leave with a ton of decorating ideas that even if I don't implement them immediately, still influence me in all my creative endeavors. I've eaten at the restaurant many times and I find it to be pretty good most of the time and excellent sometimes. It's convenient and inexpensive if you're shopping. The checkouts can be kind of aggravating - crowded and backed up a lot of the time when it is busy - all the more reason to go when it's slow - weekday mornings. My new favorite thing about IKEA is the fabric - I'm a sewist/seamstress and their cottons and linens are attractive and very reasonably priced. They also have a couple of prints that are 18th century accurate, if you're into costume making or reproduction dressmaking. And of course, the dreariest part of IKEA is that you have to put your own furniture together - but I just got a great price on some cubby shelves and they actually go together pretty quickly. read more

This review is for the Click and Collect experience only. This process is essentially like an airport cellphone waiting lot. Except instead of having to pick up estranged family members and make small talk on a 45 minute drive home, you just get to ride back with a box full of pieces. But really, this whole thing is pretty awesome. The click and collect area is clearly marked. And when you pull into the designated lot there are plenty of signs instructing you on the proper number to text or website to visit. A few moments later you are told to pull into the loading zone. A kind employee will check your idea and load your car. You don't have to do anything, it's some real life WALL-E stuff. I'm all for this system. It's efficient and helpful. IKEA is a cool store to explore and while I do miss a rainy afternoon spent wandering. It's nice that I can still take advantage of the well priced (albeit temporary) home solutions, without feeling unsafe or putting myself or others at risk. Very grateful for the staff that is willing to go the extra mile to fulfill this service. Nobody is asking but here are my personal fave things to get from Ikea: -guest towels (LOL, do you remember having guests? What a time) -extra (decorative) blankets that are safe to put in the washing machine-AMEN. -storage baskets -floating shelves -cinnamon rolls DUH! read more
