Worst customer service ever! I have been trying to cancel an order for a month. I call every day and can't get through to customer service. I went to the store and they tell me to call on the phone. Well that would be great if someone actually answered the phone. I have emailed and left messages on Facebook. All I get is a standard reply sent to everyone. I tried to cancel my order on the track my order page as instructed by an Ikea worker but I just get an error message. There has been no update to my order in a month! I always love a good trip to IKEA. I make an annual pilgrimage, honoring the homeland since my grandparents came from Sweden. Once a year, I stock up on candles, cheap kitchen gadgets, a few plastic trash cans, and a toilet brush for $1. I love it!! I like some of the furniture, and if I need a bookcase or footstool or maybe even a small desk for a guest room it's good to at least take a look at what they have. The Billy Bookcase they offer is standard and usable, not a work of art or anything, but it meets my needs. I wouldn't care to furnish my whole house in IKEA-ware. I adore the cafe upstairs. I grew up on Swedish meatballs and lingonberry sauce, so this is a little trip down memory lane for me. Good prices too. A platter of those savory little meatballs, lingonberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, all for $3.99. And I also love the lingonberry drink at the soda fountain (add lots of ice, though, or it tastes too tart). I always end up taking home a bag of frozen meatballs and concentrated lingonberry juice so I can relive my annual experience at home. They have a separate kids play area where you can drop off the little ones if you are so inclined, and then you can shop in peace. Pretty innovative, and I wish more stores offered this to customers. It can get crazy there on a weekend, traipsing around the store, and I'm sure it's tiring for many a kid (not to mention many an adult). It does sometimes seem you are stuck on a track around the whole store, which is huge. But there are shortcuts and hidden exits that can get you from one end to the other much quicker. Just be on the lookout for them, there are plenty of maps within the store telling you "YOU ARE HERE" (yes, it's that big). And the staff is very helpful if you get lost or are desperately looking for that shortcut. read more

This is the furniture shopping experience you've never had. I've been to this location approximately 10 times in the past four years. I always try to bring people who've never been, just so I can share the experience that is IKEA. The good: the selection is here is second to none. Some people like to complain about the quality of the furniture, but for the price you're paying it's well worth it. They have an immense showroom upstairs with just about every piece of furniture they sell in at least one color. They also have several rooms mocked up to give you an idea of how the furniture would look put together with other items. The staff here is AWESOME. They are always super helpful and if they can't find what you need at their store, they will find another store that has it. The bad: I really should have known better than to go soon after the store opened on a weekend (big mistake!). I usually make the trip down to this location during the week, and right after the open. This ensures the absolute fewest amount of people roaming the halls and minimizes your time at the store. A Saturday morning is absolutely jam packed with people. Some parents choose not to drop their kids off at the play center on the first floor and that makes for a very crowded showroom upstairs. Overall, this is a place you need to experience when you're in the market for furniture (or even a lot of other things, like fake plants, for instance). You could easily spend 3 or 4 hours looking at furniture and picking out accessories for your rooms. I seriously could live in this IKEA store. They seem to have all of the "IKEA things" that look amazing, but could be a challenge to put together. What is there not to love about IKEA? You can style any room in the house for a great price! If you have never visited an IKEA store, here is the rundown: They have everything from batteries to patio furniture. There is a path, which will lead you through the entire store. Just follow the lights or decals on the floor. They have rulers and pencils for you to use to help with larger projects. Most of the small items can be picked up from the floor as you see them. For other items (large and some smaller items), there will be a (red) tag on the item that will list the aisle and bin numbers. You will want to either write these numbers down or snap a picture with your phone (my preference). Once you make it through the path (which is on purpose so you can fill your cart with over $500 worth of goodies), you will reach the lower level that will have the "warehouse". This will be on the same level as the cashier, so the good news is most of your damage is done. The "warehouse" is a self-serving one, but there is staff around to help you should you need it. Looking at your aisle and bin, you can locate the item(s) in the "warehouse" and add to the cart. By this time, these larger items won't fit in your cart. You've taken the $500 path, and simple are out of space. Don't fret...there are more carts on the lower level (told you it was on purpose)! Grab (another) cart, get your large items, and look weird with the rest of us trying to push two carts to the cashier. Make sure you stop by the IKEA family station to get a key card that saves you money on promotions! Not sure your cart will have any promotional items, but it never hurts to scan it every time you check out. IKEA stores also have a cafe that is known for their Swedish meatballs. If I get hungry, I will typically grab some fries, but there are options there for you. It's a typical cafeteria style setup with trays. The return policy is great, which is awesome. Why? Because you take the $500 path, and when you get home you realize some things just don't work for the space. No worries, save the receipt and take it back. Try not to open the items if you don't know for certain that you will keep it. This will make the return procedure that much easier. Now that you are an IKEA pro, go visit and have a ball! OH! ONE. MORE. THING. They also have rooms fully set up with dimensions, to show you what you can do in a space of that size. This is very very helpful as sometimes visuals are the most impactful! I don't even know where to begin with my love for all things Ikea. Anyone who knows me knows that practically my entire condo is Ikea exclusive furnished. I love the names of the items, the modern feel to them, their designs and functions and their price. People who complain that their furniture is crap are probably a) not putting it together right (I've been shopping here for 8 years and never had anything break unexpectedly) or b) haven't bought anything and just heard from a friend it sucked. They actually have a customer service line you can call for help to build their things where someone will hand-hold you through the entire process (not that I've ever needed this). And really once you build one thing from Ikea, you can pretty much build anything. There's also two great little spots to stop and eat (.50 hot dogs and ice cream?! Wow! Free coffee? Yes!) They are cheap loss leaders but still very yummy. Check out their food section if there's something you like the taste of and want to take home to try again. This specific location has undergone a lot of changes in the last couple of years and the new layout is my least favorite. Don't be upset if you get lost and pass by the kitchen section several times, it's easy to get turned around. Great if you need ZERO HELP. ZERO. We got to the checkout with a cart and a flatbed of furniture boxes. Realized that I would need help loading them into vehicle, since my helpers are under 10 and less than 5 feet tall. So, I asked the checker. Yes, someone will help you. Asked again at conclusion of sale. Yes, someone will help you. *wait, how??* Ask second person. Am told my checker will call someone over. My checkout person has moved on to the next customer and I am dead to her. Ask third person. They point me to customer service desk. Walk there with stuff. Stand around and try to find someone who looks like they're in the same predicament. Spot couple that is being told if stuff doesn't fit in their vehicle, they can ship it via NAL. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!", I scream, throwing my Flürgenwaffle pillow at them. "IT'S A TRAP!!" (Okay, maybe that was my internal voice). Ask fourth person. They have no idea. Hordes of people with carts and trailers and exasperation on their faces stare at me. Finally ask "order pick up" guy. Breathlessly, he explains that Sam Smith outside will help me. "WHATEVERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!", i screech. I find Sam and ask him if he can help. "Uh, I guess..." he says, confused, although he just finished loading some stuff for another customer. So I leave $600 worth of stuff with Sam and go get the car. He wants to put my young kids in the front seat to fit everything, but I insist on trying to fit it in otherwise, and all boxes actually make it home. What's not to like about IKEA? We have never lived closer than an hour to an IKEA so we were thrilled when we moved and one was less than 2 miles away! This location is always fully stocked and stocked. Although it is extremely crowded the prices and selection are completely worth it. We have purchased furniture, rugs, faux plants, dishes, glassware, and storage items. All have been affordable and good quality. If you are planning to go, make sure you wear comfortable shoes and leave plenty of time. If you get hungry or thirsty there is a restaurant in the middle of the store. read more

It's not just shopping, it's an entire experience. I love to walk through the model areas, even when I'm not looking for that particular type of product. Actually, I think I do end up walking away with purchases I didn't intend for... IKEA does a good job of reminding you that you need these products, even if you didn't think you did haha. It's also a novel experience to stop at the cafe and get food. It's not gourmet by any means, but it's cheap and intelligently showcases the food they offer. I'm a fan of their desert-y items. I've been here a few times with friends to pick up stuff for myself and others. It's very crowded on the weekends, so keep that in mind. The quality of the furniture is usually on the lower end of the scale, so if you want to keep an item for a long period of time, be gentle with it. The prices are usually decent for furniture, it's great to pick up the basic essentials when you've getting your 1st place. Always make sure what you're buying that day fits in your vehicle. Try to avoid the delivery fee if you can. So far I've gotten hangers, a dresser, side table, and a comforter from Ikea. The side table and dresser are pretty solid, they're 3-5 years old, the comforter is basically a slightly thicker sheet, kind of useless honestly, and the hangers are sturdy, about 3 years old. The cafe is crowded as well, I don't recall having anything that impressed me. You're better off getting lunch or dinner before or after coming to this store. Honestly this should be an absolute last resort for furniture shopping. Try shopping second hand (online in places like facebook marketplace, letgo, offer up), in thrift stores that sell gently used furniture, and maybe even antique stores or flea markets. Most likely you'll get better quality furniture by shopping in these places instead of ikea. read more

The return and exchange was poorly operated. The line was short when I came in and I had one item to return. This employee let this guy in front of me while I was already in line. He had multiple receipts on him with the look of 100+ items to return. We both got in and I was put in a line behind him. I HAD ONE ITEM to return. I asked the employees if I could switch lanes and they said "I'll be right back". I guess they had forgotten about me or They ignored me. Everybody that was behind me in the line was done long before I got the chance to get check out. This was ridiculous. I had to wait 1 hour to return an item while it took others 15 minutes. My favorite place in the wooooorld! It's inexpensive furniture, household items, plants, home decor, etc. One of the reasons I think it's pretty inexpensive because you have to build it up yourself. This place is like a maze. There are showrooms for each room in the house (dining room, kitchen, living room, bed room, etc) to show how each furniture is displayed in a room or how to decorate with it. After each showroom, you walk into a room that has all the items you saw in the showroom displays. If you want a furniture piece, you will have to get the paper note (comes with a pencil) and write down the item number for you to find in the warehouse later on. The warehouse is at the end of the "maze". It has all the furnitures in a box, this is where you can pick up what you want and what you saw in the showrooms. Also, ikea has a cafeteria! Their food is really good, but I like their breakfast even better. They're known for their Swedish meatballs. Forgot to mention that they're also inexpensive! I can't help but love Ikea for kitchen accessories and other little things, but only before noon during the week and first thing in the morning on weekends. After those times it is way too busy and full of people who get so overwhelmed by the "oh my god, I can't believe it only costs $XX," they freeze right in the middle of the aisle. If you can manage it, use one of the yellow bags for your shopping instead of a cart, much easier to maneuver around the frozen shoppers. I have a few pieces of furniture from Ikea, a bed for my guest room - the bed was inexpensive and not too difficult to put together, Ikea did same day delivery, and the delivery guys were very professional. The prices on the box spring and mattress, however, were not that great of a deal and I ended up purchasing those elsewhere. This past Monday I got two book shelves - $39.99 each. What wasn't clear until I got them home was that Ikea claims they need to be bracketed to the wall. This isn't possible for me to do given the baseboards on my walls. But, since I don't have kids that are going to try and scale the shelves they seem pretty stable. Again, Ikea is great for inexpensive dishes, candles, and furniture. I don't come to Ikea often for two reasons. 1. I don't buy furniture often. 2. I don't live close enough to visit for leisure. But whenever I visit this IKEA, I leave in a better mood than I walked in with! I recently remodeled my bedroom, but didn't want to spend a significant amount of money as I move frequently. With some ideas in mind, I visited IKEA in search of more concrete inspiration and left with essentially a new bedroom. First of all, I love that IKEA is organized by product type, as opposed to "feel." This makes it easier for me as a shopper to remember the type of products I need, instead of getting sucked into buying random/potentially useless items because they appear to fit my "theme." Secondly, don't sleep on IKEA's quality!! You CAN ball on a budget, my dudes. Thirdly, this is seemingly unrelated to furniture (although totally related if we're talking bigger picture), but IKEA offers SO MUCH vegan food!!! This is awesome, especially for non-vegans who may try/learn about a new lifestyle & its benefits (I miss you, plant-based dogs with lingonberry & soy soft serve). Thirdly, my favorite thing about IKEA is their customer service!!!! There are so many things that could go wrong when furniture shopping, especially if you visit on a busy Saturday during college shopping season like I did. Although the store was sold out of many of the items that I wanted (I saw the most gorgeous mirror online & used their nifty "in-store availability tool" to make sure it was in stock. But someone purchased the last 14 while I was in the store, so one of the associates asked their manager to sell me the display.), the staff offered options for securing them. It's awesome that IKEA is able to offer items from the floor, mark down damaged items, help carry things, & installation. Fourthly, I like that IKEA offers items that I might not associate fully with a home goods shop.. like plant varieties & food. While I've only been to two IKEA locations in my life, I think that the woodbridge location has an awesome staff that is always willing to help!! Even if it isn't a particular team members "specified job" to help me with my request, they all ensured that I was taken care of my directing me to the appropriate person. How I heard of this place: I first found out that IKEA served food from my parents, who used to travel to the IKEA nearest them on weekends and enjoy at least one breakfast, each, for $0.99 to $1.99. Type of cuisine: A limited variety of options including hot dogs and pizza, dill-crusted fish and salmon to chicken tenders and a selection of desserts. Ambiance: The first thing that comes to mind is a corporate cafeteria when entering the IKEA kitchen. Plastic tables and chairs are set up around the open space of linoleum-tiled floors. The food is displayed behind clear plexi-glass, and trays are available for patrons to take and pile onto, while sliding the tray from one display to the next. Beverages and impulse buy items (potato chips, crackers, cookies, etc.) can be found at the register. The do-it-yourself soda fountain and condiment bar is centered within the seating area for easy access. What I ordered: Being less hungry than my two dining companions, I enjoyed samples of their meals, which consisted of one order of the Chicken Tenders ($3.99) with four pieces of fried chicken and savory battered fries, as well as two orders of the North Atlantic Saith ($4.99 each), dill-crusted and lightly breaded saith (fish) with a side of mashed red potatoes and sliced orange and yellow carrots. An optional slice of soft and fluffy, buttery garlic bread could be enjoyed as well. IKEA is IKEA - all of the places are more or less the same - but this is a good one. I've been to IKEA a number of times for different items, and it's always been pleasant. Admittedly, the "walk through the designated lane" sort of guidance they provide is odd, but the overall experience is like a fun trip, and the prices/options are always cool. I'll note that the style of IKEA places hasn't seemingly changed in the last ~4 years - my old couch is still being sold, which can be a bit weird to me - but it's all solid as a rock and dirt cheap. The only complaint I have - the parking garage and two-level layout is a bit odd. I can see it being easy to get lost here. read more

Ikea in general 4 stars... This review is specifically for our recent order of kitchen cabinets. They offer home delivery of cabinets, unlike the rest of their items it is highly encouraged to do it that way. You may not "pick yourself" from the warehouse. We went in on Sunday, waited for at least 30minutes for someone to help us with the ordering process. They essentially left us on our own to work the computer system while they helped other people and would only come back to us when we flagged them down/begged for help each step of the way. Delivery...if we accepted delivery the next day, we were told we could have a 4 hour window. It wasn't ideal, but the alternative was choose another day and have a 12 hour window...so we picked today. Delivery window of 9am-1pm. At 12:58pm we received an email saying our window has been moved to 1-3pm. No further information given. We'll see if they arrive in a 7 hour window... read more

So here I am on a journey for an assembler and no luck yet! Last night I ordered a product from your website for store pick up. I did this to avoid the crowds while the pandemic is going around. I left my house which is 50 minutes away in route to your Woodbridge, Virginia store. Upon arriving I went and gave my order number for my product. I was advised that the order never came over to them. The young lady said I would have to request a refund and repurchase the item. The item Cost $242.75 and I would have to wait five days for a refund which would now tie up $485.50 if I charged a second item. I found this very dissatisfying as I had other things to purchase for the week such as gas and food for my family and anything else that came up. I then asked for a manager to speak with. This is when it got bad and I was really turned off by IKEA. Jonah the service manager came over and asked what was wrong. I explained to him the situation and that I wanted the product I paid for. I showed him my receipt and he pulled it up in the system. He then told me the same story and said he could not do anything for me. I stressed my item was paid for and he had my money I wanted my product, He told me it didn't work like that and that corporate had my money not his store. I asked if his store was owned by IKEA and did he work for IKEA. He refused to answer that and wanted to know where I was going. I told him he worked for IKEA and IKEA had my money. He then asked if he gave a check to my mother and she lost it what would I do. I stated aske her where it was and he said exactly you would go to her. I told him my mother is not me but he was IKEA. At this point he was going back and forth with me in-front of 25 to 30 customers which was embarrassing because he made me feel like I did something wrong. I advised him I was going into the store and picking my item up and leaving. He said I wouldn't advise you to do that. I told him I paid for my item and I was taking my item. He said I was not going to do that. I asked if he was saying that as if I was stealing my item. I advised him to call the police as I am going to go get my item. It got so bad another employee, not a manager, had to come tell him to walk away for 5 minutes and talk to him. This gentleman apologized and asked me to give him five minutes. He came back and started again with me. I asked for someone above him and he advised there is no one else. We continued on at this point to where I said again I am going to get my product to call the police and I will show them my reciept and bank account. At this point I noticed two security guards standing by the door like I was a criminal. Finally another person came over to me and asked what the issue was. I told him and he asked for a moment. This is now an hour of my time standing in this store arguing in-front of several customers and employees. He looked up my order and asked for my receipts and bank statement. Finally he said to Jonah to take his info and let him have his product. He advised me if the payment did not get to them he would reach out to me. An hour after I left I received a follow up email from IKEA showing my item was pulled and ready for pick up. Then seconds later I received another email saying that my product was picked up. So obviously they figured out the issue and took care of it. Not sure why they could not have done that while I was there and saved me the embarrassment in-front of hundreds of people. I have purchased tons of things from IKEA and travel 50 minutes each way just to go to the store. I am left with a bad taste and feel like I never want to step foot in that store or any other after this. read more

Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced at the returns counter. Greetings, even basic acknowledgment, were absent, guidance was nonexistent, and when I was spoken to and finally helped, it was by another customer. I worked for Starbucks for years and if I had treated a customer similarly, I would have been given a talking-to at best and written up at worst. Oh, and I was carrying a thirty-pound chair the whole time. The exception was Jose, who re-assembled my furniture while explaining the problem I'd encountered. I usually love IKEA, but I placed an order online. It came in a timely fashion, but was not accurate. They had not placed one item in the box. I attempted to call several times to inquire about the missing item, but the system kept telling me that they were busy and couldn't take my call and would then hang up on me. I'm not sure what my options are at this point, because they will only accept emails if you are cancelling an order. Very un-IKEA-like to not be helpful or assist a customer who hasn't received what they have paid for. I hope to someday resolve this, but for right now, IKEA online is getting a 1 from me because I can't give lower. read more

If you come after 6 pm to return some things and you have more than five items- be ready for a long time waiting! Only 1 cashier is available to take returns ( one out of six!!!) IKEA staff recommends you to come back another time (instead open additional cashier service) Sounds ridiculous to drive 25-30 miles and "please come back another time" because we have only one cashier at this time and many customers" If you will lucky you may see more than one cashier available at the time you need to return your purchasing, otherwise you may be advised to "return another time" read more

Ikea is a place you either love or hate. I enjoy walking around. It's the best window shopping because even with a crowd I don't get overwhelmed or anxious. I just follow the light arrows on the ground. When I do buy furniture, I don't like having to assemble my own furniture, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice. I buy the tea light candles a lot because they're cheap and smell great. The best part about Ikea, is the food. My kids and I always eat the Swedish meatballs. I love the lingonberry soda and my son loves the pear soda. read more

I typically love Ikea. I will NEVER use or recommend their on-line ordering with delivery. I received an order 3 days ago. One item was damaged and unusable and one item was missing (a critical item I need to complete my project). The delivery company told me I need to call Ikea. I have been unable to reach a human on the Ikea 888 number. They have no way to report issues online. There is literally no way to resolve the problem. The only reason I didn't give them a 1 is because their products are priced well and the warehouse is always fun to visit. They get a -5 for customer service though. read more

Today checked this Ikea, I needed couple of things including tv stand. There was a guy in that section I believe his name was GEORGE! Let me tell you this : This guy made all my dream come th through. He was the most knowledgeable guy in IKEA ever. GEORGE helped us to customize and pick what we need in a way that nobody could ever done it! Honestly IKEA needs more of this guy in their locations to help people choose and ready to go. Always when we go they help but try to help than actual help, but GEORGE was very detail oriented and explained every detail of the tv stand , it was about 9 parts he customized it and hand it to us! He also gave the information paper so we could easily go and pick it up. He told us if you want in future you can come get the glass on top too. Guess what we did? We got it right away since he knew what to recommend and we trusted him on his knowledge on IKEA parts. Thank you George! read more

I have a condo that I rent out, and a lot of my friends were surprised when I redid the whole kitchen with supplies from Ikea. It seems like most people don't realize that Ikea sells kitchen cabinets, counter tops, sinks... basically everything that you'd normally buy from Home Depot or Lowes or specialty stores. Ikea quality is definitely hit or miss, but the quality of the kitchen stuff is surprisingly good. They don't cut a lot of corners, and the materials are really sturdy. I checked it all out really closely before going with them, and was pretty satisfied that the materials were durable and would last. Overall, you can't beat the price for the quality. This isn't a top-of-the-line kitchen, but it certainly isn't poor or even low quality, either. read more
