Let me just say this is my 9th IKEA location I've been to and I've been an IKEA family member for the past 13 years.
Guadalajara's IKEA is the LARGEST location I have ever been to. There's a great display of rooms curated in the showroom. And a wonderful stock of products.
The play area for kids is open unlike other locations where you essentially check in your child while you shop and check them out when you're done. Here there was a wide and ample variety of linens, and utensils and toys and even IKEA T-shirts?
The bathrooms are clean and well stocked with many stalls available and no lines.
As for the IKEA restaurant-- the gravy was missing cream, vegetables had a strange taste I couldn't figure out, the mashed potatoes were grainy and definitely instant but not the IKEA mashed potato pellets, the soda machine was down to only one in service and no carbonation on that machine. The cheesecake was also grainy and missing the tanginess of cream cheese and really not worth getting. They do sell Swedish beer at the restaurant and for a low price with everything else being on par with the U.S. For the meatballs, when we were there they only had vegetarian and truly you could have fooled me into thinking they were at least chicken. They were good, as were the cauliflower wing bites and French fries. The mashed potato, gravy, and lingonberry portions are small in contrast to the States.
If you're hoping to use your IKEA Family card from a different country, sadly I learned it will not work.
Overall great experience. I think they're still a very new store and have some bugs to sort out with registers and parking but I believe that will come in time.
This is an IKEA worth visiting and somewhere other IKEA enthusiasts should visit. read more
