This is not good Japanese food. I don't know how they have all these good reviews. I've been to Japan and live in Southern California so we have good Japanese food. This was a rip off in full fashion. We started with black cod gyoza which was not cooked traditionally the wrapper was still too tough and doughy. Wife ordered the hamachi which was kinda fishy and seasoned with olive oil pearls and tomato bread. We each ordered a roll. I got the lobster roll which didn't mention that it was tempura fried which destroyed the lobster. Wife ordered the tempura shrimp roll. They were okay but not worth the 19€. We each ordered water and got our bill 75€! Stay away I'm so upset I ate here. read more

Really didn't expect this as we were just walking by but probably the best sushi I've had in a while.. iKibana has the right mix of trendy and Asian style interior, the service is good, the wines are fine and the Sushi is awesome!! They have 'surprising' dishes on the menu like Maki with Picanha (Brazilian cut meat) and roasted duck breast. Will definitely go here next time in Barca! read more

Awful service. This has been the worst service we had received in Barcelona. We arrived there early for dinner, me and my friend. The place was not packed, only two other tables. They took a long time to take our order. 30 minutes later they brought us half of our order. We finished it, noone checked on us until we asked our waiter for a status. She forgot to placed the other half, which is fine, however she never apologized or gave an explanation or a status of the order, we came to that assumption based on the way management kept looking/pointing at us. We were friendly and gracious with everyone, while everyone kept a dismissive attide. The waiter came with water, he accidentally spilled soy sauce all over my friend's dress. He laughed, said sorry and left. 30 more minutes passed for the missing order to arrive. We finished and waited for someone to come with the bill. No one came, so we went inside to pay. The waiter who spilled over my friend's dress was making funny jokes about it and the manager heard the whole thing and did not care or apologized. He just made a dismissive comment. When we tried to pay the lady had a us fo the math and left, she could not be bother to wait 2 minutes with us to make the payment. Very disappointed, we were so excited for a fun sushi night. read more

Honestly, just go to the Original Ikibana at diagonal. This one is not anywhere NEAR good. I was EXTREMELY disappointed.

Haven't tasted the food yet considering that I have been waiting 30min for simple nigiri. The service needs a lot of work. They may have bit off more than they can chew. I suggest either reorganizing the staff or setting up less tables. read more

Not only was the food sub standard but I was charged for both the price fix and each item separately, probably because I do not speak Spanish. I would recommend it outright, but when we got the bill, well, $114 for what amounted to some appetizers and a couple of drinks? Sashimi and salmon tartar were spectacular! We have ordered Paulista plate (with rolls, nigiri and sashimi - 28 pieces altogether) and tartar - for two people this was a good deal for dinner, but I think we could have easily ordered another appetizer and be just as fine. I should also mention amazing service. When we have arrived (without reservation on Saturday night) they were full - but manager quickly arranged one more table outside for us and we were served just as quick as we were seated. Our waitress was a super sweet girl who recommended to order Paulista and also brought us double portion of fresh wasabi, which by the way was absolutely delicious and even spicier than the ordinary paste-like stuff. I have also heard that they have amazing cocktails - do not know, but everyone except for us seemed to be ordering mojitos to drink. I did not particularly like the interior design- it seemed too posh and pretentious (my opinion). And music was very loud. We are typical Los Estados Unidos tourists here in beautiful Barcelona for a meeting and our concierge recommended this place as the local Japanese grub. Good place. Sit outside even if you don't smoke. Everyone is friendly. They even accept AmEx! Food, however, was nearly room temp. Taste was up to our standards being aficionados of Japanese Steak Houses back home. Just make sure the staff brings your food as soon as it's prepared. read more

Ikibana is Brazilian/Japanese fusion sushi. They have some interesting Makis that are memorable, but sadly do not have much choice for the traditional sushi lover. That said that food is good, though the service is questionable. I've lived in Barcelona for many years and appreciate the more "laid back" attitude of servers. Here you usually have your table for the night, unlike in the US for instance. However at Ikibana you may have to wait 20 minutes before you even get the food menu, but I digress. The real killer was our most recent visit, where three of us spend about 150 Euro on food and drinks. When the bill came it was immediately clear that an error had been made. We were charged for two bottles of water, though we only received one. While we'd ordered a second bottle on several occasions, we never received it. These mistakes happen and usually any server will normally "take care of it". However in this case we had to discuss a 4,10 Euro overcharge a few times with the waiter, before they corrected the error. He went on to talk about "the system" they have, where we should never be charged for something we did not receive. Guess what, no "system" is flawless... In the end he took care of it, but it took another 15 minutes of waiting. I'd suggest to go to one of the many other sushi places around Barcelona instead if you crave sushi. read more
