Two lovely, properly local restaurants to eat in form the Il Bacio Stoke Newington pizza restaurant empire. The pizzas come with a variety of interesting and standard toppings including one with Italian sausage (proper sausage not just the salami that I was expecting) and rosemary and there is a long but not too long pasta menu. Salads, starters and garlic bread are also available although I'm always far too stuffed to even attempt dessert. They also operate as a traditional pizza delivery restaurant, great for those days when it's just too cold and too far to walk the few paces from my house to the restaurant. The only thing I have against this place is that I don't like the cheese they use as standard on their pizzas, I think it's kinda plasticky and so always have to pay the Buffalo Mozzarella supplement.

Probably the most authentic Italian experience you could find on Stoke Newington Church Street. Authentic in the way of food, décor, service and ambience. In an area that has an abundance of places to eat, this one stands out as a complete package. There are a few places on Stoke Newington Church Street that can transport you out of London and into another country, and this is one of them. The pizza is the real deal, not the kind of deal that chain pizza store would offer, but the real thing. The décor is full of Italian pictures and paraphernalia that makes you feel relaxed. The restaurant is licensed and has a great selection of wines. The food is very reasonably priced as well. I guess that are keeping it authentic in every possible way, as you would not pay through your nose if you were in Italy.

I had the prosciutto e funghi pizza, and he had the spaghetti bolognese. The pizza was a perfect Neapolitan style pie, reminiscent of ones I've had in Italy on other travels. Service was friendly, albeit a tad slow. This is a fun, cozy local place that I would definitely recommend to fellow travelers!

The food is extremely reasonably priced and the portions are enormous (I had the American Hot pizza for their promotional deal for 6 quid). Only thing I would say is the pizza was slightly too runny for my taste but it was still delicious. The decor also is very simple yet cosy, I wouldn't hesitate to have a date night here or even a group meal with friends. The wait staff are lovely, very attentive and extremely polite. I will definitely be back! Thanks guys.

I was starvin like Marvin on the day in question when I tried this spot. After dithering around the new places for ages, I picked this one as it looked heathy and speedy (2 of my fail-safe concerns for food ordering these days ;) The new-ish staff were very kind when I got confused about what the mushroom option entailed and the care they took over creating my order was touching. I do hope that the enterprise succeeds as the salad in particular was super-fresh and of good quality :D

There's several booths where you can eat in but they also do takeaway. But whether eating in or taking out, I love the food here. The salad boxes are £3.50 for any combination of apple slaw, bean salad, jalapeños and other freshly made veggie delights. And of course, the arancini. Crunchy on the outside soft and creamy on the inside. These little morsels are perfect with the garlic and tomato sauces that accompany them. Once you start you won't stop. Luckily they're sold in snack boxes of three, five and if you're feeling up for a challenge (or sharing), twelve. I keep coming back to this place and they never fail to fill my luchtimes with arancini perfection. Yay arancini!

Being fairly new to the area we thought we'd just have a stroll down the road until we found somewhere we liked the look of and serving something we fancied. Brooksby's Walk stands out with its twinkling lights enticing you in and the fact its in a converted bathroom. You can still see the Men and Women's signs above the doors! On entry, it has a cocktail bar at the bottom and after finding a table for some food we were led up to the awesome roof terrace which lets you look out onto the street below and opposite. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We ordered a beer and glass of wine and then took a look at the menu. Unfortunately, due to its popularity, the Octopus was sold out so we opted for the fermented pork belly, baked cheese with apricot and lamb's heart served with girolles and Scottish beans. 3 dishes to share was just right for us and the staff were so helpful when it came to the gluten-free question. They even had gluten-free bread on offer and all the dishes were gluten-free with bread removed. The food is fresh and seasonal and we spent a bit of time talking to one of the staff about the menu and dishes which change dependent on season and what the suppliers have. I love this as it means you rarely get the same dish twice and you end up with something really special. Highly recommend Brooksby's Walk for delicious food, excellent staff and to top it off its really good value for food of such high quality.
