Perhaps after three days eating wonderful meals in Italy has spoiled me, but Della Corte Bistrot was a tad disappointing.
Our sympathique tour guide led us downstairs to the vaulted dining room, and we settled in for an authentic Bolognese lunch. I was persuaded to order the local white wine which was okay and pleasant, but did not have much depth or body. Our cheese plate was enormous, and I enjoyed eating fromaggi with the fried bread and crackers. Surprisingly, the let down was the pasta. The tagliatelle with a ragu sauce was decidedly mediocre, and my lasagne tasted bland, a poor comparison to the Arthur Avenue or Jersey hearty lasagne of east coast USA fame.
Service was very nice, warm and engaging, but so slow our jet lag almost had me fall asleep face down in my lasagne. That would have been a highlight and earned Il Caffe della Corte an extra star. read more
