I swear that, in all the years we have been coming here to eat with the family, the owner/grandfather greeted us in Italian -- partially because my in-laws used to live in Italy and speak fluent Italian. My husband still gets the "Italian" treatment... lucky him. My personal favorite are their pizzas (yes, of course, a real wood oven) and my children swear by the lasagna. Through the years I have crafted my own version of a "great" pizza, by ordering a plain pizza and adding gorgonzola and aetichokes. I cannot explain the flavor combination, but the tartness of the artichokes and creaminess of the gorgonzola compliment and expound upon each other. They have Pellegrino, Grodino, and a full bar with (home-made) limoncello: nomnom. If you're stuck in Ede and considering my Bernardo's icecreamery, go here first for dinner!

They are perfect for when you want to eat delicious but not self-over-indulgence. Italian to the core. We were pleasantly surprized at the comfortableness yet authentic atmosphere that this place exuded. We walked in because we were shopping in Zutphen, an orginal Dutch "Hanzestad" and therefore very old. This reaturant was located in a building from the fifteenth century, with 15-foot ceilings with beams measuring at least one foot in width and height. Different kinds of pasta, made fresh and in-house. I had the bucatini alla putanesca, our son had the papardella gamberini, my husband had a pizza napolitana. Alll were excellent. For dessert we allowed ourselves to indulge. My husband had the panna cotta and I tried something new: the cheesecake from Italy with riccotta cheese. Quite possibly the best cheesecake I have ever had!!! These days they serve a fresh ginger tea so that finished off this outstanding Italian meal just fine.

The owner welcomed us and made sure we had a table, even though we had to leave for a little while because we forgot something. We ordered a salad, which was nice, but not great and we ordered pizza which was very good. We each had a different red wine from Italy and they were both good. The music was not too loud and they played nice songs, and there are three big screens with changing slides of scenery in Italy, which is fun. We would probably come back here.
