    Gelato flavors
    Hanh N.

They have 32 flavors for gelato and 8 favors for granita (a semi-frozen dessert). They even had an instruction for what is included in different flavors of chocolate. It is a bit more expensive than other gelateria in Milan, but the tastes are good and worth it. The staff is nice. The girl who served gelato was always smiling each time she asked a guest which flavors he/ she would like. In theory, they accept cards but the system did not work for me and my friend. Thus, it is better to have cash ready. They have a little corner for two or three people to sit down. But it was crowded so we had to take a walk outside.

    Yummy! Pistachio and coffee

This was our first gelato stop during our visit in Italy and it was so yummy! There were so many different flavors to choose from. We tried four different ones and each one were so flavorful. There were so many different chocolate options too! Depending on how dark you wanted the chocolate. The hazelnut was a very popular one. We all enjoyed that one. Pistachio was also very good. Coffee was super fragrant. Overall, I felt like all our choices were really good so all the flavors there must be amazing! If I ever get a chance to visit Italy again, I'll be visiting here to get more gelato!

This place is the real deal. I wasn't crazy about all of their gelato flavors but the 70% chocolate and the stracciatella were great and plenty enough for me. Prices are super reasonable and the waffle cookie on top is the perfect surprise treat. Plus they let you try practically as many as you'd like so you don't have gelato regret...

To the left is the Sicilian orange and coconut.

The things I do to eat gelato... I discovered Il Massimo via Conde Naste Traveler recommendations for best gelaterias in Italy. I'm all about gelato, so I HAD to abide to the list and go accordingly. Massimo is in central Milan; however, it's kind of on the outskirts where nothing else interesting is nearby. However, I made sure I went here even if it meant a 20 min or more tram ride & long rainy walk had to happen. There were tons of flavors.. well maybe less than 20... and everything was so yummy. We went to a few gelaterias while in Italy, and their pistachio flavor was the best of them all. But don't let that deter you from tasting anything else. I had the Sicilian Orange (mmmmm) and the Coconut (super coconut with lots of pieces).

Yelp made me go to this gelato shop, what can I say? I was in Milan for a day and was at a hostel around the corner, and I was trying to find something to eat. Well, gelato was a good start to my day. Too expensive, but damn was it good!

Great gelato in Milan! I stopped by here and got the biscotti and bisquit which were fantastic. It's very creamy and delicious. I understand why it's such a popular location! At €3 for a cone it's a little on the expensive side but you're getting what you pay for and you don't find much cheaper for gelato in Milan. Will definitely be going back!

Chocolate 100% oro + chocolate bacio + almond. Perfect!

WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! Enough said =) My highly-traveled backpacker friend recommended this place as the best gelato she's ever had and that it changed her life. I was highly skeptical, but it's actually true! I walked 45 minutes (one-way) from my Airbnb for this, and it was perfect! First of all, at 2.9€ for 3 scoops, I happened to have the perfect amount of change. Heck, small things like that already made my day. They had a lot of chocolate flavors which is what I like - no nonsense fruity or extra-creative flavors. A lot of places are popular because they have 50+ flavors, but I loved the simplicity here. I got the chocolate 100% oro, chocolate bacio, and the almond flavors in a waffle cone. It was creamy and fantastic, without making me feel gross afterward. Fantastic waffle cone and waffle chip. The 100% oro was rich and dark without overpowering other flavors (which happens a lot with other places when you mix and match certain flavors!). The presentation was also great - it was made very prettily, and not just huge, overflowing slabs. I was so tempted to get another cone! The lady helping me out was also nice enough to take a picture of me with the ice cream since I got so excited by it (she took 4 which was nice!). Milan actually has the best gelato in Italy!

Great gelato place in a residential neighborhood. They offer over 6 flavors of chocolate. Tried the 100% one very tasty!

There were a lot of kids lined up while we were there it was end of school time. I got the red orange and the gold kiwi, not a popular combo but the fruit flavor is so dense it feels like eating the fruit itself. The shop is tiny but it was bright and clean and attractive. Definitely would come back for other flavors. Very convenient right across from our hotel Joy 124.

If…read moreyou are a real foodie don't be fooled by thinking that any gelato in Italy will be good and authentic, even if it says "authentico"... trust me I learned this the hard way my first time in Italy. Prossima Fermata is just a short walk from the central train station, but probably not something you would stumble across accidentally on your normal tourist path, but trust me it's worth the 5-10 min time investment if you want some serious gelato. No dyes, preservatives, or other artificial ingredients, just real gelato flavored with natural, seasonal produce. They even have a poster displaying which month each flavor can be available based on.....(drumroll) the months the fruit is at its peak and most readily available. My personal favorites were the melon, cinnamon-ginger (if you like ginger...this is a very unique and amazing combo...gotta try it), and some honey or caramelized fig heaven-in-my mouth flavor. There are of course other authentic gelato places in Milano/Italy that are equally as mind blowing...just don't be fooled by the places downtown that use bright dyes and fancy fruit decorations to entice you. I got some good advice on my second Italy trip regarding scouting out good gelato: Remember real gelato is made with real seasonal ingredients...which means pear favored gelato should actually be fairly dull in color with perhaps a few flecks from the skin showing here and there...not bright green, you shouldn't see strawberry offered in the winter, and "smurf blue" gelato should never be offered. To ease your search, if you find yourself anywhere near the stazione centrale on your next trip to Milan, make your "prossima fermata" (next stop) at the Prossima Fermata.

Per me, promossa in pieno...
