Came here as it is recommended on several Milan foodie lists. They have 10 types of chocolate gelato alone along with several other classic and special flavors. Pistachio was my favorite. Be warned that the person behind the counter happened to be quite rude when I asked if I could taste one flavor (I'm not sure if it was racism or something else at play). They have 32 flavors for gelato and 8 favors for granita (a semi-frozen dessert). They even had an instruction for what is included in different flavors of chocolate. It is a bit more expensive than other gelateria in Milan, but the tastes are good and worth it. The staff is nice. The girl who served gelato was always smiling each time she asked a guest which flavors he/ she would like. In theory, they accept cards but the system did not work for me and my friend. Thus, it is better to have cash ready. They have a little corner for two or three people to sit down. But it was crowded so we had to take a walk outside. read more

This was our first gelato stop during our visit in Italy and it was so yummy! There were so many different flavors to choose from. We tried four different ones and each one were so flavorful. There were so many different chocolate options too! Depending on how dark you wanted the chocolate. The hazelnut was a very popular one. We all enjoyed that one. Pistachio was also very good. Coffee was super fragrant. Overall, I felt like all our choices were really good so all the flavors there must be amazing! Massimo is in central Milan; however, it's kind of on the outskirts where nothing else interesting is nearby. However, I made sure I went here even if it meant a 20 min or more tram ride & long rainy walk had to happen. There were tons of flavors.. well maybe less than 20... and everything was so yummy. We went to a few gelaterias while in Italy, and their pistachio flavor was the best of them all. But don't let that deter you from tasting anything else. WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! Enough said =) My highly-traveled backpacker friend recommended this place as the best gelato she's ever had and that it changed her life. I was highly skeptical, but it's actually true! I walked 45 minutes (one-way) from my Airbnb for this, and it was perfect! First of all, at 2.9€ for 3 scoops, I happened to have the perfect amount of change. Heck, small things like that already made my day. They had a lot of chocolate flavors which is what I like - no nonsense fruity or extra-creative flavors. A lot of places are popular because they have 50+ flavors, but I loved the simplicity here. I got the chocolate 100% oro, chocolate bacio, and the almond flavors in a waffle cone. It was creamy and fantastic, without making me feel gross afterward. Fantastic waffle cone and waffle chip. The 100% oro was rich and dark without overpowering other flavors (which happens a lot with other places when you mix and match certain flavors!). The presentation was also great - it was made very prettily, and not just huge, overflowing slabs. I was so tempted to get another cone! The lady helping me out was also nice enough to take a picture of me with the ice cream since I got so excited by it (she took 4 which was nice!). Good but overrated ice-cream place, with fairly annoying service. The gelato is good, but nothing fancy. You can find much better in Milan (Gelateria della Musica outscores this place by far) Anyway, this would be a 4-star review if it wasn't for the service. The first time I went with some friends and we had an argument with the owner: she wanted to give us a teared banknote as change and, when we protested, she refused to replace the broken note for a solid 2 minutes, until she eventually gave in. Absurd! The second time wasn't much better than the first one: the place was practically empty and the girls serving the ice-cream were chatting leaning against the furniture, totally ignoring me waiting at the counter. I had to wave at one of them to get my gelato, also receiving a bothered look for that. I worked in an artisanal gelateria in central Italy for some years so when I moved to Milan I thought I wasn't gonna find a place with gelato as good as that one... until Massimo! Any time of the day/night you'll find people lined up outside to get a delicious gelato. You'll have to choose among many different flavours for your cone or cup, like 10 different kinds of chocolates, many fruity ones and the classics - and you can also get boxes to go, priced by kilo, if I had friends over at home, this would be the best they could bring me (also because plants and flowers die when they enter my house). My favorite flavors are gianduia chocolate, pear and mango (but not in the same cone!), but all of the other are great, it's just that the gianduia is so creamy you won't even believe it's gelato, but a soft mousse that melts in your mouth... mmm... I need one! The only negative is that its location is not the best, it's in an anonymous street further up Corso Sempione (tramway n.1 will get you there from downtown), but it's sooo worth the trip! read more

I had the cioccolate cavour which has pungent cherries and sharp chocolate flavor, pistachio that had the perfect mix between sweet and salty, and biscuit which is the best reverse cookies and cream you'll ever have. You know when a gelateria is super good when the street gets blocked by a couple Fire Engines, while the firemen are inside getting their ice-cream. Wish i had taken a photo... but I was too busy eating mine! Lots of flavours. Beware it is CASH ONLY. And figuring out how the waiting lines work takes a master's degree. I cannot remember if you only receive a number to get your ice-cream after you pay, or if you have to also get a number for the cashier line. Just make sure you ask what you are supposed to do .Very confusing as people seems to go in and out and cut in front of you and push through the door to get inside: they may just getting their number or have already paid and are about to be called to place their order. Parking is a mess and the lines are humongous during summer hot days. read more

The line 20 people deep out the door and the 2013 and 2014 Best in Milan stickers prove that. The Lmapone (raspberry) was out of this world along with the Coco (coconut). This is easily the best gelato in Milan. Nothing else is close. It's not the best gelato that I've ever had but I've eaten at Gelateria Dondoli and Old Bridge in Rome which I would rank ahead of this. That being said, the chocolate is to die for - there are 6-8 different types depending on the day and you can't really go wrong with any of them. Must visit if you're in Milan. read more
