It was myself and two other tourists there, and the waiter was too busy entertaining his friends and checking on others that he completely ignored us. We attempted to get his attention on several occasions to get our bill because we had to leave, and from the time we initially got his attention to the time we paid our bill and left, was approximately 20 minutes. I prefer wine, but must admit cocktails are good as well. The name M&V goes back to the historic Hamburg distillery "Mulzer&Voelkel" established in 1924. M&V is on the Hamburg List of Gay Bars. Located on lively "Lange Reihe" it has been open to everyone since 1953. Some visitors complain it looks more like a Hetero bar nowadays. I am not the one too judge, as I never witnessed the glory of the place in 60s. I like how it is now with all the friendly locals, an admirable place of tolerance.

Our main comment and unfortunately it affected our experience a lot is that smoking is allowed inside. This is not uncommon for bars in this country but they could have provided a pleasant experience for everyone and not just some by not allowing smoking inside. We smelled like smoke and our drinks came with a side of ill health. Genuine atmosphere, a bit dark, just what's needed, with cool music and people. I tried their special menu which basically is a 6-course cocktail tasting (no worries, they all come into the "Chug" size glass;)) through which you'll discover their signature recipes. Pretty cool stuff, I recommend it for sure. Prices are very ok and staff is super friendly! I loved it and will go back next time I'm in the city !
