I am really picky with my hair. I know what I like and I come from a family of hairdressers so I can more or less tell when someone knows what they are doing and when they have no clue. I moved from out of town with my hair dresser's formula praying they could do just that. Ivan convinced me to try just a slight change on the color formula. My hair looks better than ever and I was so happy that I even let him cut it. Cut and blow-dry were excellent as well. Ivan and his team are sweethearts and professionals. The location is convenient, clean and laid back. This is exactly what I want out of a hairdresser. I can't recommend it enough although a big part of me wants to be selfish and keep him hidden from everyone else. I have just returned from my appointment and could not be more thrilled with how my hair turned out. I had color (single treatment) done to correct years of color-mishandling by numerous hair stylists around the Los Feliz/Silverlake area who seem to be skilled in adding neon pink to hair but cannot deal with simple brown and pre-mature graying hair. Ivan took 2 minutes to sum up my hair and knew what I wanted and then promised "You will be happy"(scary words). And beyond happy is what I ended up being. Ivan knows his color and has a lot of experience under his belt. He also juggled multiple clients while not being rushed. Having the lovely Leala (name?) there to shampoo/condition/finish helped but the clients seemed perfectly timed. Like I said, I only had color done, but the lady who was finished before me walked out with stunning highlights and also seemed like a new client and then there were 2 repeats behind me who were getting cut and color so he has a mix of old and new business. Faith in humanity restored! So I make a haircut appointment online with lifebooker. Appointment was for 11 am, and I enter to find out, "We haven't worked with Lifebooker in over two years. We don't have appointments with them." And there's a small film crew in Ivan's waiting area! I'm stunned. Anyway, Ivan must have fully taken in the incredibly twisted look on my face as he said he doesn't have me scheduled... because he decides to talk to his film crew, then tell me, "I'll honor the price and the appointment. You'll be happy and come back." Damn straight! He did and I will. What a great guy, and a great haircut. And after he was done, i noted that I got an email from Lifebooker saying the appointment was cancelled - received in my inbox just minutes before the scheduled apppointment, so it came while I was driving! No more Lifebooker. Lifebooker even made the text of the email sound like the salon had cancelled - and not admit the truth, that the salon doesn't work with them anymore. But like I said, Ivan went above and beyond. read more
