I am glad that they are expanding and have many hotels now in various European cities. This chain will probably be my first choice when booking hotels in Europe. This location is very conveniently located next to the Berlin Zoo train station. It's about a 2 minute walk to the station, and there is an express bus that goes directly from the Berlin Zoo train station to Tegel Airport. It's right close to the Kufürstendamm, the major shopping street in the former West Berlin. The room was comfortable and extremely quiet. I got a nice room on the seventh floor. The decor is modern and the bathroom fixtures are very nice. The lobby has a bar that serves drinks and small snacks late at night. It was nice to come in about 11:00 pm and relax with a beer in the pleasant hotel lobby before retiring for the night. The breakfast buffet is very good with hot and fresh rolls, pastries, cheese, cold cuts, boiled eggs, and bread. I especially liked the loaves of bread that you could slice. Nothing beats German bread. This is a good choice if you're on a budget but want to go slightly upscale.

But nice interior, free wi-fi throughout the whole hotel and a decent breakfast buffet. This one in Charlottenburg has one advantage: location; as it's near the Bahnhof Zoo train station and the new "Kranzler-Centre" on Kurfuerstendamm. But be aware, as the aforementioned Bahnhof Zoo and the nearby erotic museum mark this area as one of the (also historical) more seedy areas of Berlin. So please be prepared to encounter some really special characters when returning from partying in Kreuzberg in the wee hours of Sunday.

At night, you will have a long walk to a restaurant or bar. Walking to the city center is out of the question but two or three stops on the train will get you there. All in all, I probably wouldn't stay here again because the price is comparable to high end hotels. But when a girl's feet hurt....price doesn't seem to matter.

Call me crazy, call me stuck up, but it's the truth. But I'm not so snobby as to let a charming boutique hotel like East Side go unnoticed. My Beloved and I stayed here for three nights (my first trip to the capital), and I found the staff here warm and welcoming, while representing a hotel that is clean but delightfully unconventional (I mean, part of their branding includes Leonid Brezhnev smooching Erich Honnecker for God's sake). When we arrived, our room wasn't ready, but the gentleman behind the counter made amends by offering us a free beer while we waited (which, for a weary traveller coming from the UK, was a welcomed gesture for only a 15-minute wait). East Side is like a haven for hipsters, with charmingly playful colour schemes and eccentric photography dotting the walls. Our room was fairly large, and amazingly, the bathroom was nearly the same square footage. The staff thankfully granted our request to have a room facing the iconic Berlin Wall, which made for fantastic people watching, even in the deluge of autumn rainstorms. East Side is within convenient walking distance from some of the city's best bars and restaurants, which meant we didn't bother taking the U-Bahn until the second day of our trip.

It's much closer to Schönhauser Allee than it is to Friedrichstrasse. There is nothing special about this hotel. It's an Ibis, what more can I say? It's like trying to review different branches of McDonalds. The location is not very nice down at the beginning of Prenzlauer Allee, a street which gets steadily grimier as you progress north. If you get hungry, there are very few options close by. There are a couple kebab shops and a chinese imbiss up the road, but if you want anything fancier you'll have to walk up further into Prenzlauer Berg or towards Alexanderplatz. However, there is a petrol station next door, which is convenient for drinks and snacks. As for the staff, I found them to be pretty cold and unfriendly. But I can't be too harsh on them. If I was working behind the desk at an Ibis I wouldn't be a very happy camper either. Ultimately, Ibis does what it says on the tin. It gives you a modest room for a modest price.

They have bathrobes and slippers but need to ask housekeeping to bring one. The room was small but if you stay at the third floor, because of the ceiling is high, I didn't feel that crowded in my room. Service was good. Whenever I asked for something, they responded very quickly. I had a chance to eat breakfast at the hotel, while the food was average but the service was great. She kept coming back to make sure I was doing good. Overall, it was just an average experience for me. Hotel itself is not that great but their good service make up for it.

The room was still pretty hot the whole night, and when we complained at front desk, all we got was a "well it's 38C outside, there's no way the AC's gonna work!" Other than that, it has a nice enough indoor pool and a decent breakfast buffet in the morning.

My room had a good view of Rosenthaler Platz, nice shower, TV, closet space and hangers, comfortable bed and pillows...and clean! The bright colors are lovely and the wifi/wlan is fast as can be. The breakfast was extremely crowded but also extremely good! Coffee/espresso machines, fresh cheeses, meats, eggs, bagels, cereals and fruit salad. Best way to start the day. Also felt really safe in this area. Running in the morning was exhilarating and coming back late at night, there were plenty of people around. Only thing was their parking was full so we had to find a spot on the street. The traffic ticket cost probably as much as a parkschein anyway, no big deal. Super convenient and I would absolutely recommend staying here!!
